AMD Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2 did not universally end Windows 10 support. Its main release notes, published on October 29, 2025, listed only Windows 11 version 21H2 and later, creating the appearance of a cutoff. AMD then clarified on November 2 that Radeon RX 5000- and RX 6000-series owners would continue receiving drivers through separate RDNA 1/2 and RDNA 3/4 paths.
The driver added official Battlefield 6 support, but not a guaranteed frame-rate increase—and AMD listed Battlefield-specific crashes, timeouts, and recording-related texture problems. Windows 10 users should check the exact driver page for their GPU rather than assume that 25.10.2 is either universally compatible or universally unavailable.
What changed in Adrenalin 25.10.2?
AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2 was released on October 29, 2025. It introduced official support for Battlefield 6 using DirectX 12 and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 using DirectX 12.

The release also added initial Work Graphs support for Radeon RX 9000-series graphics products, expanded Vulkan support, and added support for the Ryzen AI 5 330. The driver identifiers were AMD driver version 25.20.21.01 and Windows Driver Store version 32.0.22021.1009. AMD marked the release as WHQL-certified.

These additions do not mean every Radeon generation receives every feature. AMD specifically associated the new game support and expanded Vulkan support with Radeon RX 7000- and RX 9000-series products.
Did AMD really drop Windows 10 support?
The confusion came from a clear change in AMD’s documentation. The preceding 25.9.2 release notes listed Windows 10 64-bit version 19044 and later alongside Windows 11. The main 25.10.2 release-notes page listed only Windows 11 version 21H2 and later.
That omission meant AMD’s unified release documentation no longer presented Windows 10 as a supported operating system for the main package. It did not, by itself, prove that every Radeon GPU had lost the ability to receive or run a Windows 10 driver.
AMD addressed the interpretation on November 2, 2025, in its statement “Continued Support for Every Radeon Gamer”. The company said RX 5000- and RX 6000-series products were not being abandoned and that AMD was moving to separate optimized driver paths:
- RDNA 1: broadly the Radeon RX 5000 series
- RDNA 2: broadly the Radeon RX 6000 series
- RDNA 3: Radeon RX 7000 series
- RDNA 4: Radeon RX 9000 series
AMD said RX 5000 and RX 6000 cards would continue receiving new-game support, stability and game optimizations, security fixes, and bug fixes. That is a change in driver organization and feature priorities—not a blanket Windows 10 or older-GPU shutdown.
Which Radeon GPUs are covered?
The 25.10.2 compatibility information covered a wide range of desktop and mobile products, including:
- Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9060 series
- Radeon AI PRO R9700
- Radeon RX 7900, 7800, 7700, 7650, and 7600 series
- Radeon RX 6900, 6800, 6700, 6600, 6500, and 6400 series
- Radeon RX 5700, 5600, 5500, and 5300 series
- Corresponding supported mobile Radeon families
Coverage is not identical across these products. New architecture-dependent capabilities such as Work Graphs are aimed at newer hardware, while the release’s Battlefield 6 and expanded Vulkan wording specifically identifies RX 7000 and RX 9000 products.
“Maintenance mode” should therefore not be read as “no more drivers.” It more accurately describes a separate, stability-focused path for older architectures. AMD promised continued support, but it did not promise identical features, optimization timing, or performance on every generation.
What does 25.10.2 do for Battlefield 6?
25.10.2 adds official Battlefield 6 support for DirectX 12. That establishes driver-level compatibility and game-specific driver work. It does not establish a universal frame-rate improvement.

AMD’s release notes do not provide a single Battlefield 6 performance percentage that applies to every Radeon card, resolution, processor, or graphics setting. Treat claims that 25.10.2 makes the game “faster” as hardware- and configuration-dependent unless they are backed by testing for the specific system.
Battlefield 6 issues listed by AMD
The same release notes list problems that matter to players upgrading specifically for Battlefield 6:
- Intermittent application crashes or driver timeouts while playing Battlefield 6 on systems using the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.
- Texture flickering or corruption while playing Battlefield 6 with AMD Record and Stream enabled on some AMD graphics products.
If texture corruption appears, first disable Record and Stream and retest with default Radeon settings. Avoid treating the release as a universally trouble-free Battlefield update.
Other known 25.10.2 problems
Battlefield 6 is not the only consideration before installing this historical release. AMD also listed:
- Cyberpunk 2077: crashes or driver timeouts when loading a saved game with path tracing enabled.
- Roblox Player: crashes or timeouts when task-switching between media on some RX 7000-series products.
- Counter-Strike 2: Radeon Anti-Lag 2 may be unavailable with DX11 on some cards, including the RX 9070 XT. AMD recommended Vulkan as a temporary workaround.
These issues are a reason to keep a known-good driver available, particularly if the current system is stable and Battlefield 6 is not a priority.
How Windows 10 users should check compatibility
- Identify the exact Radeon model in AMD Software or Windows Device Manager.
- Open AMD’s official support and driver page.
- Select the precise GPU family and model, not merely “Radeon Graphics.”
- Check the operating-system list on that product’s driver page.
- Download the package only if it explicitly supports your Windows edition and version.
- Install it as administrator and reboot.
- Confirm the installed driver version in AMD Software or Device Manager.
Package requirements can differ. For example, AMD’s separate RX 9070 XT/RX 9070 25.10.2 release notes explicitly listed Windows 10 64-bit version 1809 and later as well as Windows 11. That is why the main release-notes page should not be treated as a universal statement about every Radeon product path.
Laptops, all-in-ones, and handhelds
For laptops and all-in-one PCs, AMD recommends using the system manufacturer’s customized driver where one is available. OEM packages may contain platform-specific power, display, and switching features that are not present in AMD’s generic package.
AMD’s Adrenalin release notes also state that the package does not include support for handheld gaming devices. Handheld owners should use the driver supplied by the device manufacturer.
Who should install 25.10.2?
Installation makes the most sense when:
- You need official Battlefield 6 support.
- Your exact AMD product page offers a Windows 10-compatible package.
- You use a recent Radeon card and can revert if instability appears.
- You have a restore point or a known-good driver ready.
Windows 10 users should not install solely because a generic article says the driver is compatible. Verify the product-specific package first.

Staying on a stable earlier driver is reasonable if you are not playing Battlefield 6, depend heavily on recording or streaming, use an OEM laptop or handheld, or cannot tolerate troubleshooting a new driver.

There is also little reason to upgrade a working RX 5000 or RX 6000 system merely to obtain a newer architecture feature. AMD’s clarification indicates that those cards would continue receiving support, while newer rendering and API features could remain concentrated on RX 7000 and RX 9000 hardware.
How to recover if 25.10.2 causes problems
- Record the problem and note the exact GPU, Windows version, game, and driver version.
- Reset Radeon tuning to default; remove any overclock or undervolt.
- For Battlefield 6 texture corruption, disable AMD Record and Stream first.
- If the issue persists, download the prior known-good driver after confirming that it supports the GPU and Windows version.
- Use AMD Cleanup Utility before reverting, as AMD recommends.
- Reboot after cleanup, install the older package, and reboot again.
AMD Cleanup Utility is a removal and recovery tool, not a performance enhancer. Routine installation does not automatically require aggressive driver removal.
What the change means for Radeon owners
The important distinction is between operating-system support, GPU-generation support, and feature parity.

Conversely, a newer GPU may have access to new APIs or features while its exact package has different operating-system requirements.
That makes the 25.10.2 situation less dramatic than the initial headlines suggested, but it still signals a more divided driver strategy. New features are likely to be prioritized for newer architectures, while older generations continue on a separate path focused on compatibility, fixes, security, and game support.
Is 25.10.2 still the latest driver?
No. Adrenalin 25.10.2 is a historical release from October 2025, not the current universal recommendation. As a later example, AMD’s RX 9070 XT driver page listed Adrenalin 26.7.1 as the latest WHQL-recommended driver on July 28, 2026 and still provided a Windows 10 download path for that product line.
That later listing confirms continued Windows 10 availability for that specific GPU path. It should not be generalized to every Radeon card. Always use the download page for the exact model.

Bottom line
AMD Adrenalin 25.10.2 looked like it dropped Windows 10 because the main release notes removed Windows 10 from their operating-system list. AMD later clarified that Windows 10 and Radeon RX 5000/RX 6000 support had not been universally terminated.
The driver added official Battlefield 6 support, but it did not guarantee a measurable performance uplift and it carried Battlefield-specific crash, timeout, and recording-related texture issues. Install it only after verifying the exact package for your GPU and Windows version; otherwise, a stable previous driver remains a sensible choice.
