AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.5.2 was the official launch-era Radeon driver for EA SPORTS F1 25. It added driver-level support for the game and fixed an intermittent path-tracing crash on Radeon RX 9000-series graphics. However, it is an optional 2025 release—not the default choice for a fresh installation in 2026, when a newer compatible AMD driver may be preferable.
Use 25.5.2 today mainly when you need to reproduce a known launch configuration, troubleshoot a regression, or follow specific guidance from AMD or EA.
What Adrenalin 25.5.2 is
Adrenalin 25.5.2 is AMD’s Windows graphics driver and Radeon software package. It is not an F1 25 game patch, mod, or standalone performance utility. AMD released it as an Optional Update with new support for EA SPORTS F1 25.
AMD’s release page identifies the package as version 25.5.2. The same release contains AMD driver version 25.10.01.12 and Windows Driver Store version 32.0.21001.12002. The package also lists Ryzen AI NPU MCDM driver version 32.00.0203.258, dated April 1, 2025.

EA recommended AMD users update to Adrenalin 25.5.2 before playing F1 25 in guidance published on May 30, 2025. That was launch advice, not a statement that 25.5.2 would permanently remain the best driver.

What it changes for F1 25
Official game support
The main change is new game support for EA SPORTS F1 25. This means AMD prepared the driver for the game’s launch and identified it in the release notes as a supported title.
That does not automatically mean higher frame rates. AMD published no F1 25 benchmark results, average FPS figures, frame-time measurements, or universal performance guarantee for 25.5.2. The accurate description is official launch compatibility and driver support—not a proven performance upgrade for every Radeon GPU.
RX 9000 path-tracing crash fix
AMD lists one F1 25-specific fix: an intermittent application crash while playing with path tracing enabled on Radeon RX 9000-series graphics products.

The scope matters. This does not mean every F1 25 crash is fixed, nor does it guarantee that path tracing will be crash-free on every RX 9000 system. Crashes can also result from the game build, overlays, unstable overclocks or undervolts, corrupted shader data, third-party software, or hardware problems.
Known issues in 25.5.2
AMD documented two relevant remaining issues:
- Stutter or lower-than-expected performance may occur when using Alt-Tab while streaming to Discord across multiple monitors.
- Intermittent system crashes may occur with multiple high-resolution FreeSync monitors on Radeon RX 9000-series hardware.
These reports describe interactions among the game, display driver, Discord capture, monitor timing, variable refresh, and Alt-Tab transitions. They do not mean every Radeon user will experience them, and they are not necessarily rendering bugs inside F1 25 itself.
Should you install 25.5.2 in 2026?
For a new installation, prefer the newest compatible driver offered through AMD’s official support selector. AMD had already published the 26.5.2 branch on May 14, 2026, demonstrating that 25.5.2 is an older driver by September 2026. This does not prove that 26.5.2 is specifically the best F1 25 driver, but it does mean 25.5.2 should not be presented as current.
Choose 25.5.2 when there is a specific reason to use this historical release:
- You are reproducing a launch-era F1 25 configuration.
- A newer driver introduced a regression on your particular GPU or system.
- You are troubleshooting against a known-good 25.5.2 setup.
- AMD or EA support specifically requested this version.
- You need to test whether the RX 9000 path-tracing crash behavior changes with the documented fix.
Prefer a later compatible driver when installing fresh, using recent Radeon hardware or Windows builds, or seeking newer game compatibility, display support, and bug fixes. A stable newer driver should not be replaced merely because 25.5.2 was recommended before the game’s launch.

Start with AMD’s current driver selector rather than relying on an old direct installer link.

Mobile Radeon graphics
AMD lists the following mobile families: RX 7900M, 7800M, and 7600M; RX 6800M, 6700M, 6600M, 6500M, and 6300M; and RX 5700M, 5600M, 5500M, and 5300M.
The notebook package is a reference driver. AMD warns that laptop manufacturers may provide system-specific features and stability improvements that are not included in AMD’s generic package.
Integrated graphics, laptops, and special devices
The release also lists several AMD processor families with Radeon graphics, including Ryzen, Ryzen PRO, Athlon, Ryzen AI, and related mobile products. For laptops and all-in-one PCs, use the manufacturer’s driver when display switching, power management, hotkeys, hybrid graphics, external-monitor behavior, or OEM control software is important.
AMD says this Adrenalin package is not intended for Radeon products running in Apple Boot Camp. AMD also does not include support for handheld gaming devices; handheld owners should obtain drivers from the device manufacturer.

Supported Windows versions
AMD lists support for:
- Windows 11: version 21H2 and later.
- Windows 10 64-bit: version 1809 and later.
Actual operating-system support can vary by Radeon product. Confirm the GPU and operating-system combination in AMD’s release notes before installing.
Installation: the safe procedure
- Identify the Radeon GPU and determine whether the system is a desktop, laptop, all-in-one, or handheld.
- Confirm that Windows is 64-bit and meets AMD’s listed version requirements.
- Download from AMD’s official release page or driver selector. The release page identifies the installer as
amd-software-adrenalin-edition-25.5.2-win10-win11-may29.exe. - Close F1 25, Discord, browser capture tools, recording software, and other GPU-intensive applications.
- Run the installer with administrator rights.
- Select the installation mode you need and complete the setup.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
- Test F1 25 using the same resolution, display mode, ray-tracing settings, and frame limit that previously caused the problem.
- Test first with overlays and Discord streaming disabled. Re-enable them one at a time.
Do not treat a copied executable URL or third-party mirror as the preferred download path. AMD’s download system may reject externally referred or copied requests. Begin at the official AMD release page.
When to clean-install or roll back
A clean reinstall is reasonable if the installer fails, the update causes black screens or repeated driver timeouts, F1 25 stops working immediately after the update, or remnants from substantially different driver versions may be conflicting.
Use AMD’s official uninstallation instructions and installation instructions. A rollback to the previous known-good version is appropriate when 25.5.2 introduced the problem, particularly if you do not need its RX 9000 path-tracing fix. Rollback is a troubleshooting choice, not a universal recommendation.
Troubleshooting F1 25 problems
If F1 25 still crashes at launch
- Confirm that the GPU and Windows version are supported.
- Restart Windows after installing the driver.
- Verify the game files through your PC storefront.
- Disable Discord Overlay, recording tools, and third-party overlays.
- Return GPU overclocks and undervolts to factory settings.
- Clear or rebuild shader caches if the game or driver provides that option.
- Test without path tracing, especially on RX 9000 hardware.
- Perform a clean AMD driver installation.
- If the issue began with 25.5.2, test the previous known-good driver or a later compatible release.
Only the RX 9000 path-tracing crash is specifically listed as fixed by AMD. A different crash should not automatically be attributed to, or expected to be solved by, this driver.

If Alt-Tab causes stutter
Because AMD specifically lists the Discord, multi-monitor, and Alt-Tab combination as a known issue, test with Discord streaming disabled, fewer active monitors, and overlays turned off. Borderless windowed mode may be worth testing instead of exclusive fullscreen. For diagnosis, also test a fixed refresh rate, temporarily disable FreeSync, and restart the game after changing the display configuration.
If multiple monitors cause a system crash
On RX 9000 systems with high-resolution FreeSync displays, temporarily disconnect secondary monitors or disable FreeSync. You can also lower the secondary display’s resolution or refresh rate, disable HDR during testing, connect displays directly to the GPU rather than through a problematic dock or adapter, and try a newer driver. Laptop owners should test the manufacturer’s driver as well.
If performance is worse after the update
Compare identical settings rather than assuming the newer driver is faster. A new driver can trigger shader compilation, reset a game profile, alter Anti-Lag, Boost, Enhanced Sync, or frame-limiting settings, or expose overhead from Discord and capture tools. A separate F1 25 update may also have changed performance. Compare frame-time behavior, not just one instantaneous FPS reading.
Driver update versus game patch
A Radeon driver and an F1 25 patch solve different classes of problems. The driver provides GPU and display compatibility; the game developer must fix issues in the game itself. F1 25 later received game updates, including patch v1.07 in July 2025, with PC stability and graphical fixes. Installing 25.5.2 does not replace updating the game through its PC storefront.
For a current troubleshooting setup, update the game, use a compatible current AMD driver unless you have a reason to test 25.5.2, and then isolate overlays, display configurations, and unstable GPU settings.
Technical certification wording
AMD’s release page reports WHQL Test Suite Results: Passed and WHQL Microsoft Certification: Not Applicable. Therefore, it is not accurate to summarize the package simply as “Microsoft WHQL-certified.”
