If location is not working on your Android device, check two separate controls: the device-wide Location setting and the affected app’s location permission. If both are set appropriately but the position is inaccurate, review Location Accuracy. Android menus and available options vary by version and device.
First, identify where the problem occurs
Check whether location is unavailable in every app or only in one. If several apps are affected, start with the device-wide setting. If a single app is affected, check that app’s permission first. This helps narrow down which control to inspect; it does not rule out other causes.
Turn on device-wide Location

Open Settings on your Android device.

Tap Location.

Turn on Use location. The label or menu path may differ by Android version and manufacturer. Google’s general instructions are in Manage your Android device’s location settings.
Google says that when Location is off, the device’s location is not shared with apps and location-based features may not work properly. What remains available depends on the feature and device; emergency-location behavior is a separate case described by Google on the same help page.

Check the affected app’s location permission

Open Settings, then find the affected app in the app list. Depending on your device, this may be under Apps or Apps & notifications.

Open the app’s details and tap Permissions, then Location.

Choose an access option that fits what the app needs. Options vary, but may include allowing location only while the app is in use, asking each time, or not allowing access. Some devices also offer background access.

If the app needs a more exact position and the option is available, enable Use precise location. Otherwise, approximate location may be sufficient. Do not grant broader or more precise access than the feature requires.

Google’s instructions for app-level choices are at Manage location permissions for apps. App permission is separate from the device-wide Location switch: the device setting can be on while an app is denied access.
If location is inaccurate, review Location Accuracy
Location Accuracy is a device setting that can combine available wireless signals, GPS, and sensors to improve location estimates. It is not the same as an app’s precise-location permission: Location Accuracy affects how the device estimates its position, while the app permission controls what location access the app receives.

In Settings, look under Location for Location services or Location Accuracy; the exact path and availability vary by device. Google explains the feature in How Location Accuracy improves location. Results can depend on device capability and nearby signals.

As an optional troubleshooting idea, clear the app’s cache if your Android version exposes that option in the app’s storage settings. This is not a guaranteed fix, and the steps differ across devices.

Try checking location outdoors, where the device may have a clearer view of GPS signals. This is a suggestion, not a guaranteed remedy for a particular phone or app.

If the menu labels or symptoms do not match these steps, consult the app developer’s help and your device manufacturer’s instructions.
The indexed Android Experto guide also suggests cache clearing and an outdoor check, but those suggestions are not established fixes for every device or app.
