Activision announced an August 13 North American date; Nintendo UK records August 16 for Europe. Those are historical release dates, not a notice of a new launch.
What games are in Angry Birds Trilogy?
The collection includes three titles: Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio. Nintendo’s catalog describes Seasons as featuring seasonal episodes and Rio as adding characters and episodes inspired by the film. Nintendo UK’s product listing names the games and their themes.
When did it come out on Wii and Wii U?
The dates vary by region: Activision scheduled the North American release for August 13, 2013, while Nintendo UK lists August 16, 2013, for Europe. Activision’s 2013 announcement gives the North American date; Nintendo UK’s catalog gives the European one.
Activision also advertised more than 100 hours of gameplay across the three titles and 40 hours of bonus levels. Those figures were the publisher’s promotional estimates, not independently measured playtime.

What does the Wii U GamePad do?
Activision’s launch announcement described Wii U-specific features: touchscreen aiming, the option to switch the display between the GamePad and television, and online leaderboards. These are documented for the Wii U version; the available sources do not establish an equivalent control feature set for Wii. Nintendo UK lists one-player play and GamePad compatibility. Nintendo UK’s product page and Activision’s announcement provide the platform details.
Nintendo lists Activision as publisher, while Nintendo Life identifies Rovio Entertainment as developer. The two companies had distinct roles. Nintendo Life’s review listing also describes aiming with the GamePad while viewing the full stage on the TV; that is the reviewer’s experience, not a controlled comparison.

Can you play it on Wii U today?
Nintendo says purchases of the Wii U edition through the eShop ended on March 27, 2023. That notice concerns digital purchases only; it does not establish whether physical copies are currently in stock or what they cost. For a physical copy, check the exact platform and region on the listing and confirm its condition and availability before buying. A Wii U console and GamePad are needed to use the Wii U version’s documented features.
