apc60itl.dll is a real 32-bit Microsoft Application Programmability Components file used by older Visual Basic for Applications integrations. It is not normally a protected Windows system DLL, so the safest fix is to repair or reinstall the application that is requesting it.
Do not download a random copy and place it in System32. The correct file must match the application, VBA installation, language, and architecture.
apc60itl.dll identification
| Item | Confirmed information |
|---|---|
| File name | apc60itl.dll |
| Description | Application Programmability Components International Resources |
| Publisher | Microsoft Corporation |
| Product family | Microsoft Application Programmability Components |
| Related technology | Visual Basic for Applications 6.x integration |
| Architecture | Appears to be a 32-bit Win32 DLL |
| Normal role | Language or resource component for an older VBA host |
| Usual location | An application VBA folder, often beneath Common FilesMicrosoft SharedVBAVBA6<locale> |
| Windows system file | Not established as a routine file in System32 or SysWOW64 |
The file is associated with the APC integration layer documented for the VBA 6.x SDK. Older Windows programs could include or install this component when they embedded VBA functionality.
There is no verified complete list of applications that use it. Older Office-related installations, development tools, and VBA-enabled commercial applications may install shared VBA files. Public installer records also associate the file with older applications such as CorelDRAW, but that does not mean every apc60itl.dll error comes from CorelDRAW.

What the error means
Common messages include:
- “The program can’t start because apc60itl.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “This application failed to start because apc60itl.dll was not found.”
- “Error loading apc60itl.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “A required component is missing: apc60itl.dll.”
- “apc60itl.dll is missing or corrupted.”
- “The procedure entry point could not be located.”
- “This application has failed to start because apc60itl.dll was not designed to run on Windows.”
These messages do not all mean that the file itself is absent.
- Missing or not found usually means the application cannot locate the file or one of its dependencies.
- Could not be loaded can indicate a damaged file, incorrect location, missing dependency, or incompatible architecture.
- Procedure entry point not found usually indicates mismatched files from different application or VBA releases.
- Not designed to run on Windows commonly indicates a damaged, incompatible, or incorrectly replaced binary.
- Corrupted means the loader rejected the file, but the underlying cause still needs to be identified.
The most common trigger is an incomplete uninstall, cleanup utility, application update, or damaged installation that removed a shared VBA component still needed by another program.
Fix 1: Repair the application showing the error
Start with the program named in the error. Do not begin by repairing Windows unless the affected program is unknown or several unrelated applications fail.
Repair from Windows Settings
- Close the affected application.
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Find the program that will not start.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair.
- Start the application again.
The Repair option normally preserves the program and its user data. If the application opens without the DLL error, the repair restored its files or registration data.

- Press Windows + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Select the affected program.
- Choose Change, Repair, or Modify.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Restart Windows if requested.
If there is no Repair option, use the original installer. Choose the same product edition and language when possible. Avoid installing a different release over the top unless the application vendor’s installer requires it.
Repair Microsoft Office or another VBA host
If the error appears while opening an Office-related program:
- Open Settings with Windows + I.
- Select Apps and then Installed apps.
- Find Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Modify.
- Try Quick Repair first.
- If the error remains, repeat the process and choose Online Repair.
For an older VBA-enabled application, repair that application instead of assuming Office supplies the missing file. Microsoft’s official VBA security update, vba65-kb2688865-x86-enu.exe, updates VBA 6.3 through 6.5. It is not documented as a universal standalone recovery package for apc60itl.dll.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow to tell whether repair worked
Repair succeeded if:
- The original program opens normally.
- The
apc60itl.dllmessage no longer appears. - The program’s VBA or automation features work when used.
- No new side-by-side, entry-point, or dependency error appears.
If the same message returns, uninstall the affected application, restart Windows, and reinstall it from its original vendor installer. Do not manually delete remaining Microsoft SharedVBA folders before reinstalling, because another application may still use them.
Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
Security software can remove or quarantine an application file. This is especially important if the program worked until a security scan, cleanup, or update.
Check Windows Security Protection history
- Open Start.
- Type Windows Security.
- Open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent quarantined or blocked items.
- Open an entry related to the affected application or
apc60itl.dll. - Check the original file path and detection details.
Only restore the file if all of the following are true:
- The original path belongs to the trusted application.
- The parent application was installed from a legitimate vendor installer.
- The application is digitally signed or otherwise verified as genuine.
- A current security scan does not identify the restored file as malicious.
Microsoft warns that restoring a real threat can expose the system again. If the file was found in a temporary folder, a downloads folder, or another writable location, do not restore it. Remove the suspicious copy and reinstall the parent application from its trusted installer.

After restoring a legitimate file, open the application. If Windows Security quarantines it again, keep it quarantined and investigate the application installation rather than repeatedly restoring the file.
Fix 3: Confirm the application and file architecture
Available evidence identifies apc60itl.dll as a 32-bit component. A 32-bit application needs the compatible 32-bit VBA component, even when Windows itself is 64-bit.
Do not assume that placing a 32-bit file in System32 will help. On 64-bit Windows:
System32contains the normal 64-bit system files.SysWOW64contains many 32-bit Windows system files.- Neither folder is the normal destination for this application-private VBA component.
The correct location is determined by the application installer. It may be beneath a path resembling:

The exact language folder and installation path can differ.
To inspect the requesting application:
- Right-click its shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Details tab if available.
- Note the product name and publisher.
- Use that information to locate the matching installer or repair entry.
If the program is 32-bit, reinstall its 32-bit release and its associated VBA components. Do not mix files from unrelated VBA versions or language packages.
Fix 4: Check the application installer and installation media
A damaged installer, missing installation media, or interrupted update can leave the program without APC files.
Try the following in order:
- Download or locate the installer from the original software publisher.
- Right-click the installer.
- Select Properties and check the Digital Signatures tab when available.
- Right-click the installer again.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Choose Repair, Change, or Install.
- Restart Windows after setup finishes.
- Test the original application.
If the installer asks for a disc, network share, or source folder, provide the same installation media used for the original installation. Do not substitute a DLL downloaded separately.
An older installer may fail because it cannot read APC60ITL.DLL from its source files. That points to damaged or inaccessible installation media, not necessarily to Windows corruption.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
apc60itl.dll is not established as a protected Windows file, so DISM and SFC are secondary checks. They are useful when Windows itself is behaving abnormally or several system applications are failing.
Run DISM first
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes if User Account Control appears.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Wait for it to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Do not close the window until the scan reaches 100 percent.
Possible SFC results include:
- Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations: protected Windows files are not damaged.
- Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them: restart Windows and test the program.
- Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them: restart, run DISM again, and repeat SFC once.
- The requested operation could not be performed: run the command from an administrator Command Prompt and check the Windows installation for broader problems.
If the application still reports apc60itl.dll afterward, repair or reinstall the application. SFC does not normally restore an application-private VBA file that Windows never owned.
When manually repeating DISM and SFC becomes guesswork, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for related Windows problems and show what it detects; the free scan identifies issues, while repairs are completed with the full version. Reinstalling the affected application remains the definitive fix when its private VBA files are missing.
Fix 6: Install Windows updates and check drivers only when relevant
Windows Update is sensible when the error began after an incomplete update or when several Windows components are failing.
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart the computer.
- Test the affected application.
This file is not established as a hardware driver, so updating a graphics, audio, chipset, or printer driver is not a normal fix for apc60itl.dll. Check drivers only if the application also crashes after a hardware or driver change.
To inspect drivers:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant device category.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Review the provider and date.
- Use Update Driver only when a known driver problem is present.
Do not remove an unknown device merely because the DLL error exists. Device Manager does not reinstall application VBA components.
Manually checking every device and comparing driver releases can take time and can make it unclear which change affected the application. Outbyte Driver Updater can show outdated drivers in its free scan, while driver installation is completed with the full version; it is optional and does not replace reinstalling the application that owns the DLL.
Fix 7: Use Windows Features only for a documented requirement
apc60itl.dll is not established as a file supplied by a normal Windows Optional Feature. Enabling random components such as .NET Framework or legacy media features is therefore unlikely to restore it.
If the affected program specifically requires an optional Windows component:
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
optionalfeatures.exe. - Press Enter.
- Enable only the feature named in the application’s documentation.
- Select OK.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Test the program.
Do not enable features as a substitute for repairing the application installer. Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, and .NET are not established fixes for this particular DLL.

Does regsvr32 apply?
Normally, no.
regsvr32 is intended for self-registering COM and ActiveX DLLs that provide a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. apc60itl.dll is described as a VBA/APC resource or runtime component, not as a COM in-process server.
Running a command such as this usually does not repair the missing dependency:

regsvr32 apc60itl.dll
It may produce an error stating that the entry point is missing. That does not prove Windows is damaged. It means the DLL is not designed for that registration process.
Use regsvr32 only if the application publisher explicitly documents that command for its own component and provides the correct file path.

What not to do
Do not download an isolated DLL
Random DLL download pages may provide:
- An unsigned or modified file
- The wrong language resource
- The wrong architecture
- A mismatched VBA release
- A file containing additional unwanted software
- A DLL that still lacks other dependencies
A replacement may also create DLL-preloading risk if it is placed in a writable folder searched before the legitimate application directory.
Do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64
The application installer knows where its VBA files belong. Copying the file into a system directory can hide the real installation problem and cause a different application to load the wrong version.
Do not delete shared VBA folders
Older programs can share VBA components, and multiple VBA generations can coexist. Removing Microsoft SharedVBA files manually may break another application.
If the error still appears
Identify which executable is requesting the file.
Useful built-in checks include:
- Event Viewer: press Windows + R, type
eventvwr.msc, and inspect Windows Logs > Application. - Reliability Monitor: open Start and search for View reliability history.
- The full path of the application executable.
- The application’s repair or reinstall log, if available.
Record:
- The affected program
- The complete error text
- The application executable path
- The Windows version
- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit
- Whether the program itself is 32-bit
- Whether the error started after an uninstall, update, cleanup, or antivirus detection
- The path where
apc60itl.dllwas found, if any
If the problem began immediately after installing software or changing settings, System Restore may help:

- Select a restore point from before the change.
- Review affected programs.
- Start the restore.
Use System Restore only when an appropriate restore point exists. It does not replace repairing the application that owns the missing file.
On Windows 11, a repair reinstall is available under Settings > System > Recovery > Fix problems using Windows Update > Reinstall now. This preserves apps, files, and settings, but it is a late-stage Windows repair and not the first response to an application-private DLL error.
FAQ
Is apc60itl.dll a Windows system DLL?
Not normally. It is associated with Microsoft Application Programmability Components and older VBA integrations. Evidence places it primarily in application-installed VBA directories rather than standard Windows system folders.
Is it an Office file?
It can be related to VBA-enabled software, but the error does not prove that Office is the parent application. Identify the program named in the error and repair that program first.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Is apc60itl.dll 32-bit or 64-bit?
Available evidence identifies it as a 32-bit Win32 component. A 64-bit Windows installation can still run a 32-bit application that needs it.
Should I copy it to the application folder?
Only an official application installer or the application vendor’s documented repair process should place it there. Do not copy an unverified download manually.
Should I register it with regsvr32?
Usually not. It is not established as a self-registering COM DLL. Repair or reinstall the parent application instead.
Will SFC restore it?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files. It may correct broader Windows corruption, but it is unlikely to restore a VBA DLL installed privately by an older application.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

The filename alone cannot establish that. Check its path, publisher, digital signature, and antivirus detection. A copy in an unusual writable directory deserves investigation, while a file restored by the trusted application installer is easier to validate.
What is the safest fix?
Find the program that displays the error, use its Repair or Change option, and reinstall it from the original publisher if repair fails. That restores the matching VBA component without risking an incompatible DLL replacement.
