How the open pathway feeds Pro League
Online Open: direct route into Split 1
Competition runs across four regions: Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA), APAC North and APAC South. In each region, the winner of each of the four Online Open qualifiers earns a direct Split 1 Pro League place. Four more teams qualify based on cumulative points across all four weekends. That fills eight places in each regional league; the other 22 teams receive direct invitations.

Challenger Circuit and the Pro League Qualifier
The Challenger Circuit runs alongside Pro League and gives teams another open route. Its four weekends in each split feed the Pro League Qualifier. After Split 1, the PLQ is a 30-team, double-elimination competition with Match Point Finals. Challenger Circuit teams compete against the bottom eight Pro League teams in each region for places in Split 2 Pro League.
Pro League structure
Each split has 30 teams per region. The roadmap describes a triple round robin followed by Match Point Regional Finals. The four regions are the online competition structure; the official rules say Playoffs and the Championship include teams from all regions.

How teams qualify for the Sapporo Championship
The 40-team Championship field balances performance across the season with a final qualifying opportunity. Thirty-two places go to teams through Championship Points accumulated in Pro League and Playoffs. The remaining eight go to the top two teams from each of the four regions at the LCQ.
The Championship format is Group Stage, Double Elimination Bracket and Match Point Finals. The points route rewards consistency over the season; the LCQ gives teams one more chance to reach Sapporo.

What changes—and what returns—in Year 6
Two Split Playoffs return
Year 6 restores a two-Playoffs structure: Riyadh hosts Split 1, Las Vegas hosts Split 2, and Sapporo hosts the Championship. The Playoffs are not a third split; the Championship is the season-ending event.
Match Point, POI Drafting and Legend Bans
EA says Match Point Finals, POI Drafting and Legend Bans return. Riyadh’s Split 1 Playoffs use a five-day round-robin Group Stage, Survivor series and Match Point Finals. The Las Vegas Split 2 Playoffs use a four-day Group Stage, double-elimination bracket and Match Point Finals.

Competitors must reside in an eligible country or territory, have a valid EA account with two-factor authentication, access to Apex Legends on a supported platform, and a linked Battlefy account. Teams must register for events. Check the current official rules and event registration details for eligibility requirements and deadlines.
