Apple named nine major games in its June 9, 2025 macOS Tahoe announcement. That was a lineup announcement, not nine simultaneous launch dates, and the old “coming soon” wording is now outdated. As of August 18, 2026, Crimson Desert is reported to have received a macOS release, while the other titles require individual publisher or storefront checks.
This is the current status guide: what Apple actually promised, what “Mac support” can mean, and how to check whether your Mac can run each game.
What Apple announced at WWDC 2025
Apple’s June 9, 2025 macOS Tahoe 26 announcement presented nine games as part of a broader Mac-gaming push. The announcement also introduced the Apple Games app and highlighted Metal 4, MetalFX Upscaling and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Apple did not publish a Mac release date for every title. A game shown in an Apple presentation is not automatically a shipped native macOS application; the publisher still has to release and support that build.

The nine games and their latest status
| Game | Type | Status as of Aug. 18, 2026 | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crimson Desert | Open-world action RPG | macOS release reported for March 19, 2026 | Confirm the live Mac listing on the official site or an official store before buying. |
| InZOI | Life simulation | Mac availability and date not established here | Apple announced planned Mac support; check InZOI’s official site for the current platform list. |
| Cyberpunk 2077 | Open-world RPG | Mac release status and date require current publisher or storefront confirmation | Apple named the game, but that announcement supplied no shipping date. Check CD Projekt Red’s site. |
| Cronos: The New Dawn | Survival horror/action | Current Mac status requires verification | The announcement alone did not establish a launch date; consult the official site. |
| Architect: Land of Exiles | Action RPG | Current Mac status requires verification | Do not assume broad availability from the Apple mention alone. |
| Lies of P: Overture | Expansion/DLC | Mac status requires verification | This is downloadable content connected to Lies of P, not a separate full game. Check whether a Mac version and the base game are both required. |
| HITMAN World of Assassination | Stealth-action compilation | Exact macOS status and channel require verification | Apple-platform coverage can include iPhone or iPad. Confirm that the listing specifically says macOS. |
| EVE Frontier | Online space-survival game | Mac client and access status require verification | Account creation, a launcher, internet access and beta or server rules may apply. |
| Where Winds Meet | Open-world action RPG | Mac status and date require verification | A Windows, PlayStation or Xbox release does not prove macOS support. |
The only release date identified in the available evidence is the reported March 19, 2026 macOS launch for Crimson Desert, sourced to Wikipedia. Because that is a secondary source, verify the date and store listing against the publisher before publication or purchase.
What “Mac support” can mean
- Native macOS build: the developer ships a Mac application.
- Apple-silicon-native build: the game runs without Intel translation on M-series hardware.
- Universal or Intel-compatible app: it may run through Rosetta 2 on Apple silicon, depending on the game.
- Compatibility layer: CrossOver, Wine, Whisky or Parallels runs the Windows version. This is not official Mac support.
- Cloud gaming: a remote PC renders the game and streams it to your Mac. This is also not a native port.
Before buying, look for an explicit macOS platform entry and the developer’s system requirements. A trailer, an Apple Games app listing or a community compatibility report is not enough.

What Metal 4 changes—and what it does not
Apple’s WWDC 2025 Metal 4 presentation covers graphics features including ray tracing and MetalFX. Apple specifically said that Crimson Desert and InZOI use MetalFX Upscaling and take advantage of ray tracing on M3- and M4-family chips.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Metal 4 is compatible with M1 and later Apple chips, but individual capabilities vary by GPU family, as Apple’s Metal capability tables explain. The technology does not guarantee a particular frame rate, resolution or quality setting. Optimization, memory, cooling and the game’s own requirements still determine the result. Apple also provides general Metal support information at support.apple.com.
Which Macs are likely to cope?
- Likely suitable: a recent Apple-silicon Mac with the memory recommended by the game’s publisher.
- Possible with reduced settings: a base M-series model, especially for a large open world or simulation.
- More headroom: M Pro, Max and Ultra systems generally offer more GPU capacity, but generation and memory still matter.
- Thermal caution: fanless MacBook Air models can reduce sustained performance during long sessions.
- Display caution: driving an external high-resolution display increases rendering load.
- Do not assume: an Intel Mac is compatible merely because it runs a recent macOS version.
Apple’s M3/M4 ray-tracing statement applies specifically to Crimson Desert and InZOI, not to all nine games. Do not upgrade solely from the chip names in Apple’s presentation; wait for the title’s official requirements.

How to verify a Mac version before you buy
- Open the game’s publisher page and identify the supported operating systems.
- Check the product page on Steam or another official store for a macOS badge and the minimum macOS version.
- Search the Mac App Store separately; an Apple announcement does not guarantee a listing there.
- Confirm whether your existing Windows purchase includes the Mac build, whether a separate launcher is required and whether saves or multiplayer carry across platforms.
- For online games such as EVE Frontier, verify account, connection, region and beta-access rules.
- For Lies of P: Overture, confirm ownership of the base game and whether both components support macOS.
If there is no native Mac release
Compatibility layers
CodeWeavers CrossOver can run some Windows games on macOS, but compatibility varies by title and update. Anti-cheat, launchers, performance and graphics features may fail or differ from a native port.
Cloud gaming
GeForce NOW and Xbox Cloud Gaming can stream supported games to a Mac. They require suitable internet latency, supported accounts and a catalog that includes the game. Streaming does not turn a Windows release into a Mac version.
Controllers
macOS can pair many Xbox, PlayStation and Bluetooth controllers. Apple lists compatible options at its game-controller store page, but button prompts and full functionality remain game-specific.

Should you buy a new Mac for these games?
Only buy after checking the specific game’s official requirements and confirming that the Mac storefront version exists. A faster Mac can improve GPU headroom and sustained performance, but Mac gaming still has a smaller catalog and less upgradeability than a Windows gaming PC or console. If a title lacks a native port, compare the cost and reliability of a Windows system or cloud service instead of assuming Metal 4 will solve the compatibility problem.
Bottom line on Apple’s nine-game list
The list was real, but it was never a nine-game launch schedule. Crimson Desert should be treated as a reported macOS release pending confirmation from its official store or publisher. The other eight need separate labels—released, dated, announced with no date, or unconfirmed—rather than one blanket “coming soon” claim. Check the exact macOS listing and hardware requirements for the title you actually want to play.
