Apple Arcade is a $6.99-per-month or $49.99-per-year gaming subscription in the United States. It includes 200+ games with no advertising and no additional in-game purchases in the Apple Arcade versions. One subscription can be shared with up to five other people through Family Sharing.
The important caveats are that the catalog changes, individual games may not support every Apple device, and subscribing gives access rather than permanent ownership. This guide explains the current service, representative games, pricing, compatibility, saves, cancellations, and who should—or should not—pay for it.

What is Apple Arcade?
Apple Arcade is Apple’s subscription gaming service for compatible iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro devices. Subscribers download games through the Arcade section of the Apple Arcade service or the App Store, rather than buying each game separately.
Apple’s catalog currently contains more than 200 games. It combines Arcade Originals, App Store Greats—often recognizable games with a “+” suffix—and collections of classic-style, puzzle, family, sports, strategy, and casual titles. Apple continues to add games, updates, events, and expanded editions, while titles can also leave the service.

Apple Arcade is therefore best understood as a rotating access library, not a permanent collection of games you own.
Apple’s developer overview explains the main catalog categories, while the live Arcade tab is the most reliable place to check current availability.
Apple Arcade price and plans

The annual standalone plan works out to about $4.17 per month, but Apple bills the full $49.99 upfront. These are Apple’s current US prices; taxes, regional pricing, availability, and promotional eligibility vary.

Eligible new subscribers may receive a one-month free trial. Apple also advertises up to three months free with the purchase of an eligible new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV. These offers can have eligibility rules, redemption deadlines, and automatic renewal, so check the terms shown on the account’s checkout screen.
Apple One can also include Apple Arcade. It is financially sensible when you already want services such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, or iCloud+. If games are the only service you want, standalone Apple Arcade costs less.

A “+” title is not automatically a new Apple-exclusive game. In many cases it is an Apple Arcade version of an established App Store game, with the subscription version’s ad-free and purchase-free model. The Apple Arcade product page is the authority for the current edition and features.

How to find the complete live catalog
- Open the Apple Games app or the App Store.
- Select Arcade.
- Browse New Games, categories, collections, or See All Games.
- Search for a particular title when needed.
- Open the game’s product page to check supported devices, the controller icon, age information, and other current requirements.
On Apple TV, use the Arcade app or the Arcade section of the App Store. On Apple Vision Pro, Apple directs users to the Arcade section in the App Store. Apple’s support guide covers the current browsing and download process.
Availability can differ by country or region, hardware, operating-system version, and device family. A game appearing in the US App Store does not guarantee that it appears in every other market.
What Apple Arcade includes
No advertising
Apple markets Apple Arcade games as free from advertising. This removes the ad interruptions common in many free-to-play mobile games.
No additional in-game purchases
Apple says Apple Arcade games have no additional in-app purchases. This applies to the Apple Arcade version. A separate ordinary App Store edition of the same game may use different pricing, features, or monetization.
Downloads and offline play
Subscribers can download as many available Apple Arcade games as their devices can store and support. Apple promotes online and offline play, but offline capability is title-specific. A game may need an initial connection, account verification, online multiplayer, or network access for particular functions.
Controller support
Many games support controllers, but support is not universal and may differ by platform. The controller icon on a game’s product page indicates controller support for that Apple device. Some Apple TV games require a controller. Do not assume that a controller supported on iPhone will work identically on Mac, Apple TV, or Vision Pro.
Supported devices and compatibility
Apple Arcade spans:
- iPhone
- iPad
- Mac
- Apple TV 4K and, where supported, Apple TV HD
- Apple Vision Pro
Not every title is available on every platform. Before subscribing—or buying a device specifically for Apple Arcade—check:
- That the operating system is supported and up to date.
- That the specific game supports the intended device.
- That the device has enough storage for downloads.
- Whether a controller is optional or required.
- Whether the title is available in your country or region.
- Whether all devices use the same Apple Account if cross-device saves matter.

Family Sharing: one subscription for up to six people
Apple Arcade supports Family Sharing. The family organizer and up to five additional members—six people total—can use the subscription without buying separate access. Each person should use their own Apple Account and Game Center profile, so profiles and progress remain separate.
This is Family Sharing, not unrestricted sharing of one personal Apple Account. Sharing an Apple Account with other people is not the intended setup and can create problems with purchases, privacy, saves, and account security.
Cross-device saves and progress
On supported games, iCloud and Game Center can make saves, progress, and high scores available across compatible Apple devices signed into the same Apple Account. It is not universal: the game must support the feature and the relevant accounts must be configured correctly.

- Confirm that both devices use the same Apple Account.
- Confirm that Game Center is enabled and signed in.
- Check iCloud settings and available iCloud access.
- Update the operating system and the game.
- Check the game’s current product page or support information.
Do not assume that a save transfers between an Apple Arcade edition and a separate paid App Store edition. Apple’s guidance on saves and games leaving the service explains the limits.
What happens when an Apple Arcade game leaves?
Leaving the catalog is the most important ownership caveat. If a game becomes unavailable, you may see a “No Longer Available” message. A downloaded copy does not preserve access after the title leaves Apple Arcade.
The developer may later release a separate App Store version, but that version can have different pricing, features, or in-app purchases. The developer may also support transferring saved progress, but transfer is not guaranteed. A game’s Apple Arcade availability should never be treated as permanent.

After Apple Arcade access ends, canceled subscribers cannot play downloaded Apple Arcade games. Resubscribing may restore access to gameplay data, but Apple warns that waiting too long can mean some saved data is no longer supported.
Subscribe on iPhone
- Open the Apple Games app.
- Tap Arcade.
- Tap the subscription button.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
You can also start from the Arcade tab in the App Store.

Cancel on iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Apple Arcade or Apple One.
- Follow the cancellation instructions.
Cancel on Mac
- Open the App Store.
- Click your name.
- Open Account Settings.
- Under Manage, select Manage next to Subscriptions.
- Select Apple Arcade or Apple One and follow the prompts.
Apple advises canceling at least one day before the renewal date. Check the subscription screen for the account’s actual renewal and access details.
Is Apple Arcade worth it?
Apple Arcade is a strong value for Apple households that want variety, family access, and mobile games without ads or purchase prompts. At $6.99 per month, it can make sense if you regularly play several titles. The annual plan is cheaper on an arithmetic monthly basis if you expect to use the service throughout the year.
Choose Apple Arcade if you:
- Use iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or Vision Pro devices.
- Want a broad selection rather than one specific game.
- Dislike mobile advertising and aggressive in-game monetization.
- Can share the subscription with family members.
- Want games that can often be played across Apple devices.
- Already pay for Apple services and may benefit from Apple One.
Consider skipping it if you:
- Primarily use Android or Windows.
- Want major console and PC releases or the largest competitive multiplayer ecosystem.
- Play only one game that would cost less to buy outright.
- Require permanent ownership of your games.
- Have limited storage or unreliable internet access.
- Need every title to work on Mac, Apple TV, or Vision Pro.
The fair comparison is not simply the number of games. Compare the service’s ad-free model, family use, supported devices, catalog turnover, game depth, and lack of permanent ownership with buying individual App Store games or using a console or PC subscription service. Apple Arcade’s main advantage is convenience and household breadth; its main weakness is that access depends on an active subscription and a changing catalog.
