Apple’s new head strap is the Dual Knit Band, while its new “PlayStation controller” option is actually the PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller & Charging Station—not a standard DualSense gamepad. The Dual Knit Band is a $99 U.S. comfort accessory for Vision Pro. The $249.95 U.S. PlayStation package adds tracked motion input to compatible Vision Pro apps and requires visionOS 26 or later.
They solve different problems: the band is intended to improve fit and balance, while the PSVR2 Sense controllers enable six-degrees-of-freedom tracking, finger-touch detection, and vibration in supported spatial games.
What Apple introduced
Apple announced the M5 Apple Vision Pro and Dual Knit Band on October 15, 2025. The M5 Vision Pro starts at $3,499 in the United States, with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, and includes the Dual Knit Band.
Existing owners can also buy the Dual Knit Band separately for $99 in the U.S. Apple’s product page also lists the Solo Knit Band as a separate accessory, so the two should not be treated as the same strap. Prices and availability vary by country and can change.

The other product is Sony’s PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller & Charging Station package. Apple’s U.S. Store listed it at $249.95 when checked. The package includes both the left and right controllers, a charging station, AC adapter, power cord, and two USB adapters.
Apple’s announcement and the Apple Store listing describe the controllers as spatial accessories for Vision Pro rather than ordinary Bluetooth gamepads.
Dual Knit Band: what the new Vision Pro strap does
The Dual Knit Band uses soft, cushioned, breathable fabric and a counterbalanced design. Its upper and lower sections can be adjusted independently, and Apple includes a dual-function Fit Dial for tightening and fit adjustment.

That design should be most relevant to Vision Pro owners who experience sliding, pressure, or poor balance with their current strap, particularly during longer viewing, work, or gaming sessions. Apple presents the band as a way to improve comfort, balance, and stability.
Those are design goals, not a guarantee that every user will find Vision Pro comfortable. Replacing the strap does not change the headset’s display resolution, cameras, sensors, processor, battery life, app compatibility, or front-heavy glass-and-aluminum construction. It may improve pressure distribution and fit, but it does not make the headset lighter or transform it into a new Vision Pro.

Apple sells the band separately, which indicates an accessory path for existing owners. However, the cited official material does not provide a complete model-by-model compatibility table for every older Vision Pro configuration. Before ordering, confirm the current compatibility details on the Apple Vision Pro product page.
The PlayStation accessory is not a DualSense
No—the PlayStation accessory is not the regular PS5 DualSense controller.

A DualSense is the better match if you simply want familiar sticks, buttons, and triggers. The PSVR2 Sense pair is designed for experiences in which the position and rotation of each controller matter.
Each Sense controller has buttons, a joystick, triggers, finger-touch detection, vibration feedback, and spatial-tracking capabilities. Vision Pro’s cameras and the controllers’ sensors work together to track where the controllers are and how they are rotated. That can support actions such as aiming, swinging, pointing, sculpting, or manipulating virtual objects.
Apple’s developer documentation explains that spatial accessories connect through the Game Controller framework, while apps can use RealityKit or ARKit to access tracking data. This does not turn Vision Pro into a PS5 or provide access to the complete PlayStation VR2 software library. Support depends on visionOS and on each app’s implementation.

In compatible experiences, the controllers can provide more than game input. Apple says they can also navigate Vision Pro using standard gestures such as a tap, although the exact behavior depends on the software being used.

Compatibility and software requirements
Spatial-accessory functionality requires visionOS 26 or later. Pairing alone is not enough: a controller may appear as a Bluetooth device without providing tracked spatial input if the headset is running an older operating system or the app does not support the feature.
How to connect the controllers
- Update Apple Vision Pro to visionOS 26 or later.
- Charge the PSVR2 Sense controllers and place them into pairing mode using Sony’s current controller instructions.
- On Vision Pro, open Settings → Bluetooth.
- Select the controller or controllers when they appear.
- Open a supported game and check whether it recognizes the controllers as spatial accessories.
- Grant any accessory-tracking permission requested by the app.
- Attach the wrist straps and clear the play area before motion-based play.
Apple’s Bluetooth support guidance covers the Vision Pro side of pairing. Do not rely on an unverified button combination for putting the Sony controllers into pairing mode; use the manufacturer’s current instructions.
If the controllers do not work
- Confirm that Vision Pro is running visionOS 26 or later.
- Check that both controllers are charged and in pairing mode.
- Return to Settings → Bluetooth and retry the connection.
- Disconnect unused Bluetooth accessories. Apple warns that active Bluetooth accessories can contribute to wireless-performance problems.
- Restart Vision Pro and the controllers.
- Test another supported app. If the controllers work elsewhere, the limitation may be app-specific.
- Contact Sony for controller-specific pairing, firmware, or hardware issues. Apple does not guarantee compatibility with every third-party Bluetooth accessory.
Which Vision Pro games support PSVR2 Sense controllers?
Apple identified these early supported games:
- Elu Legend
- Pickle Pro
- Ping Pong Club
- Spatial Rifts
Apple’s Vision Pro page specifically highlights Pickle Pro as a six-degrees-of-freedom experience. This is an initial published list, not a complete or permanent catalog. App support can change with developer updates, app versions, and regional availability. Check each game’s current App Store listing before buying the controllers.

Ordinary Vision Pro games may continue to support conventional Bluetooth or MFi-compatible controllers without supporting tracked Sense-controller input. Similarly, Steam Link, Portal, Apple Arcade, and streamed games should not be assumed to support the PSVR2 Sense features unless the individual app confirms it.

Apple’s support and developer materials identify PSVR2 Sense controllers as supported spatial accessories on visionOS 26 or later, so an existing PSVR2 owner may be able to use a compatible pair with Vision Pro instead of buying another set.
Do not assume that every controller firmware version, regional model, or app will behave identically. Verify the current compatibility information and keep the controllers updated according to Sony’s guidance.
The Apple package may still appeal to buyers who need the included charging station and accessories. The cited sources do not establish whether Apple or Sony sells the charging station separately, so existing owners should not assume that purchasing a replacement dock is an available option.

Buy the Dual Knit Band if…
- Your current strap causes pressure, slipping, or balance problems.
- You spend long periods watching, working, or gaming in Vision Pro.
- You want an Apple-made replacement with independent upper and lower adjustment.
Skip it if your current fit is already satisfactory or if you expect a performance upgrade, longer battery life, or guaranteed comfort. At $99, it is a fit accessory—not an upgrade to the headset’s electronics.
Buy the PSVR2 Sense package if…
- You specifically want tracked motion input.
- You plan to use apps such as the early supported titles Apple has named.
- You are developing or testing spatial-accessory interaction.
- You do not already have a compatible, working pair of PSVR2 Sense controllers.
Skip it if you only need a conventional gamepad, already own a compatible pair, or expect access to PlayStation VR2 games and the wider PS5 ecosystem. The $249.95 package is expensive for traditional controls alone.
Bottom line
The Dual Knit Band is a $99 U.S. comfort-focused replacement strap, while the $249.95 U.S. PlayStation package is a pair of PSVR2 Sense motion controllers with a charging station. Choose the band if fit and balance are your problem. Choose the Sense controllers only if you have compatible spatial games or a clear need for tracked input. Neither accessory removes Vision Pro’s high system price, guarantees comfort, or adds full PlayStation VR2 compatibility.
