After that, prioritize scarce crafting components you actually need, then weigh cash-focused valuables and incidental loot against backpack space and extraction risk. There is no universal best-item list: your progression, stash, current patch, and raid objective change what is worth carrying.
Choose a raid objective before you choose loot
Topside is where Raiders search for loot; Speranza’s Workshop is where they upgrade, craft, and repair gear, according to Embark Studios’ game overview. That makes the best pickup the one that serves a specific next step, not necessarily the rarest-looking item. Before entering a dangerous area, decide whether this run is for a quest, an upgrade, materials, or cash.
- Quest or project: collect the items currently requested and keep them until turn-in or until you confirm they are no longer needed.
- Upgrade or craft: prioritize materials for the next bench recipe you have chosen, taking your stash stock into account.
- Cash: favor items whose primary use is selling, while still reserving space for essential survival supplies.
Requirements and item uses can change with progression and updates. Check the current quest, project, and recipe screens rather than relying on an old checklist.
Early-raid pickup priorities
1. Active quest and project items
These come first when they directly advance a current objective: their practical value is the time and risk saved by not having to make another trip. Keep them until the objective is complete, and recheck requirements when a project advances to a new stage. A damaged or low-rarity appearance is not proof that an item is expendable; historical checklists include unusual damaged goods among upgrade requirements.

- ARC Raiders Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the following content: The Wanderer Set, including the following cosmetic items: “Valente” Outfit" “Pathfinder” Backpack,“Blanket Roll” Backpack Attachment.
- Plus: Character Cosmetic, Finger Gun Rapid Fire Emote, Cowboy Scrappy Body Type and Skin, 2 400 Raider Tokens.
2. Scarce ARC drops and needed components
Guides identify items such as ARC Alloy, ARC Circuitry, ARC Powercells, Bastion Cells, and Hornet Drivers as potentially useful progression materials. Give them priority when a planned recipe or upgrade calls for them, especially if reacquiring them would require a risky fight. Do not attack a dangerous ARC solely because a static guide lists its drop: the value depends on your actual need and the current encounter risk.
3. Common materials for an immediate recipe
Metal parts, electrical components, cloth, and medical supplies can support crafting and progression, but they are not automatically worth every slot. Compare what you have in storage with the requirement you are working toward. If a recipe calls for a missing material, Embark’s April 4, 2026 UX update describes an Acquire Resources button that surfaces available ways to obtain it, including recycling or buying from Celeste.
Rank #2
4. Sell-oriented valuables when this is a cash run
Watches, jewelry, and electronics are examples guides identify as valuables to sell; another guide names Lance’s Mixtape as a sell-oriented item. Treat these as examples, not a permanent value chart: check the current in-game sale value and whether the item has another use before parting with it.
5. Container or event loot only when the risk makes sense
Weapon cases, medical bags, ammo cases, ARC husks, Buried Raider Caches, and Field Depot drops are among the sources guides suggest checking. Those recommendations do not establish guaranteed contents or drop rates. If reaching a container would pull you away from your objective or put a loaded run at risk, its possible contents may not justify the detour.

Keep, sell, or recycle: make three separate decisions
An item’s sale value, crafting use, and recycle output answer different questions. Check its current description and the live interface before deciding; do not sell an item just because it looks like junk.
- Keep: items needed for active quests or projects, components for your chosen near-term upgrade, and difficult-to-reacquire ARC parts you have a known use for.
- Sell: items whose main value is currency when that currency matters more to your current plan than their recycle output or any other use.
- Recycle at Speranza: duplicate or unwanted gear and materials when the displayed output helps a craft or upgrade. Multiple third-party guides report better yields at Speranza than Topside; confirm the current preview in game.
- Recycle Topside as a space-management fallback: do this when freeing a slot matters more than carrying the item out. Guides report a Topside recycling penalty, including a 50% figure, but that figure is not established here as current for the October 2026 build. Use the live preview rather than assuming a fixed percentage.
How to choose when your backpack is full
Compare the competing items using these questions, in order:
Rank #4
- Capture and Tame Dinosaurs: Discover over 100 different dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures on the island, finding ways to tame them into useful additions for your tribe's dyno herd
- Survive Above All: Hunger, thirst, basic safety, and protecting yourself from the weather are all part of the game
- Harvest, Hunt and Build: Cut down trees and turn them into a basic home, which you can quickly expand into a Jurassic estate. Hunt for meat, scavenge for plants (or start your own garden!)
- Customize Everything: An extensive crafting system invites you to mix and match materials scavenged from the island, while also modifying the colors, textures, shapes, and styles
- Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout
- Does either item complete an active objective or a near-term recipe? Favor the one with a direct use over a speculative future use.
- How hard or dangerous would it be to obtain again? A scarce component may be worth more than a replaceable item even if its sale value looks modest.
- What does the live interface show? Compare current sale value and recycle output, and check the item description for other uses.
- What is the slot cost? Prefer the item that delivers more value for the inventory space it consumes, while accounting for any relevant weight limits.
- Can you extract safely with it? A valuable pickup has little practical value if chasing it jeopardizes the rest of the loadout.
This is a decision framework, not a fixed ranking for every Raider. Goals and progression differ, and exact item values, recipes, and sources may change.

Old item lists can help identify possibilities, but should not be treated as live requirements. PC Gamer’s detailed checklist dates to November 2025; it illustrates why apparently odd items may matter, but does not establish the October 2026 recipe list. The official Update 1.36.0 patch notes are relevant to changed ARC Turbine loot and Courier drops cited in a September 2026 guide. Check current in-game descriptions and patch notes before building a farm route around a particular machine or drop.
