Use the Stella Montis Medical Storage Key in a small locked room in the west wing of Medical Research, above the Viewing Deck—not in the Archives. Look for red lockers beside a stairwell; the locked door is across from the stairs. Arc Raiders AI’s location guide provides these landmarks, while alternate approach descriptions vary by starting point.
Where is the Medical Storage Key room?
Head to the west wing of Medical Research on Stella Montis, above the Viewing Deck. In the lab area, find several red lockers and a nearby stairwell. The locked storage-room door is across from the stairs. This landmark-based description is more dependable than following a route written for a different spawn.
One route description starts from Assembly: take the corridor toward Medical Research, then use the stairs to go down. Another account describes reaching the room by travelling straight from a southern Medical Research spawn and places it near an entrance or exit. These are different approaches, not one guaranteed route for every raid.
If a fuel-cell door blocks access to the lab, a guide reports that a side entrance can be used with the Raider Tool. That route has not been independently verified, so use the red lockers and stairwell as your main landmarks once inside the facility.

Is the room in the Archives?
No. Medical Research is the destination for the Medical Storage Key. The Archives has a separate locked room associated with the Stella Montis Archives Key. If you are standing in the Archives, check the key’s exact name and your map marker rather than trying the Medical Storage Key on its doors.
What loot can you get inside?
The room is small and has relatively few containers. Reported loot includes healing items and other medical consumables, crafting materials or components, valuables, and occasionally another key or a weapon. Loot is randomized; weapons and a jackpot drop are not guaranteed. The community key guide also characterizes it as an uncommon-key room in a green loot zone.

Consider opening it when you are already looting Medical Research or when healing supplies would be especially useful. A detour from elsewhere on the map is harder to justify if you are well stocked: the room is small, and spending the key uses up a single-use item. Night raids are suggested by one guide as a possible time to use it, but that is advice, not a guarantee of better or more profitable loot.
How to decide whether to spend the key
- Use it now if you are already near the room and need medical supplies.
- Save it if reaching Medical Research would mean a substantial detour, you are well stocked, or you would rather keep the key for a later run.
- Weigh the opportunity cost: the room offers a small number of randomized containers, and the key is consumed when it opens the door.
This is a practical choice based on the reported room size and loot categories, not a measured profitability comparison.

Where can you find the key?
The key has no fixed, guaranteed spawn. Guides describe it as a random container drop and recommend searching residential containers such as drawers, cabinets, suitcases, desks, and medical furniture. Ruby Residence, apartments and houses, and upper floors of Research and Administration on Dam Battlegrounds are reported search areas—not confirmed drop-rate hotspots. A Destructoid guide recounts one writer finding it at Ruby Residence, but that does not establish a reliable route or ranking.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What happens to the key after use?
The community key index classifies keys as single-use consumables for unlocking rooms, doors, and hatches. The Medical Storage Key is consumed when the door opens, and the room resets between raids, so you need another key to access it on a later run. The guide also reports that keys are lost on death unless kept in the Safe Pocket.
