What happened to the Goldberg and Nikki Bella rumor?
The September 11, 2025 report was based on Goldberg and Nikki Bella banners spotted in The Island. It also cited a September 10 post from SmackDown Hotel claiming the pair could reportedly be unlocked by completing a new expansion story. The report itself cautioned that the banners did not confirm the Hall of Famers would be playable. Yardbarker’s September 11 report therefore described a possibility, not proof of free access.
What 2K later confirmed
On September 17, 2025, 2K said WWE 2K25 “welcomes Goldberg and Nikki Bella, playable Superstars featured in the new Hall of Legends expansion for The Island.” That confirms both arrived as playable characters, but does not explain the expansion’s price or the precise conditions for unlocking them. 2K’s announcement lists Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for the Hall of Legends expansion.

Are they free DLC characters?
The official information does not establish that Goldberg and Nikki Bella were a separate free DLC pack. It identifies them as part of Hall of Legends in The Island, and does not state whether access requires a purchase, story progress, or both. So the confirmed answer is that they became playable in the expansion; whether a player could access them for free cannot be determined from the announcement.

That distinction matters because WWE 2K25 also has a separately named lineup of post-launch character packs. 2K’s original DLC roadmap described five packs, available individually and through the Season Pass, and named the Wyatt Sicks as a pre-order bonus. The later announcement identifies Goldberg and Nikki Bella with The Island expansion, not as a sixth character pack or as part of the Season Pass. The Attitude Era Superstars Pack is one of the named packs and is separate from Hall of Legends.

2K’s announcement names Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S for the Hall of Legends expansion. Its platform list is narrower than the list for the base game: 2K’s WWE 2K25 page lists the game for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The expansion announcement does not list the original Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, or Xbox One.
