As of October 8, 2026, Nintendo’s official information reviewed here identifies no upcoming Nintendo 3DS games. Nintendo ended new 3DS eShop purchases in 2023, and its surfaced 2026 release schedules list Switch games rather than 3DS releases. That does not rule out every possible independent physical release, but no such upcoming title is verified here.
Is Nintendo still releasing 3DS games?
No upcoming Nintendo-published 3DS game appears in the official Nintendo schedules and catalog reviewed for this article. Nintendo’s 3DS catalog concerns existing software, while its surfaced 2026 release schedules cover Switch games. There are therefore no verified upcoming 3DS titles to list by release date, publisher, region, or format.

This answer is about what Nintendo has officially identified. The available information does not comprehensively rule out a future independent physical-cartridge release anywhere in the world.
Can you still buy games on the 3DS eShop?
No. Nintendo Support says purchases of 3DS-family games and downloadable content through the eShop ended on March 27, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time in its North American notice. Nintendo’s Japanese software page gives March 28, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. Japan time as the end of sales, reflecting the regional timing. Nintendo also says browsing the 3DS eShop for games and other digital content is no longer possible.

Closing new sales did not immediately end every digital service. Nintendo said previously purchased games and DLC could still be redownloaded and software updates received “for the foreseeable future.” That is not a promise of permanent availability.

How to tell a new release from an old game listing
- Officially announced future game: Look for a Nintendo announcement or release schedule identifying a new 3DS title. No such upcoming game was found in the official material reviewed.
- Secondhand physical copy: A used cartridge or collector listing is an existing game for sale, not proof of a newly announced release. Current seller inventory and any future limited-run release are not established here.
- Previously purchased digital game: Nintendo says redownloads may remain possible for games and DLC you already bought; this does not mean new eShop purchases are available.
