The available DataStax guidance identifies exhausted credits and card-payment problems as possible billing issues, but does not specify an India-only recovery process or guarantee that every plan follows the same timeline.
First, confirm what “subscription” means
DataStax Astra Streaming is a cloud event-streaming, queuing, and publish-subscribe service built around Apache Pulsar—not a consumer video subscription. DataStax describes Astra Streaming as a unified event-streaming service, and the Terraform Registry describes the Astra provider as managing Pulsar-as-a-Service: DataStax pricing and Terraform Registry provider documentation.
There is also a technical meaning of “subscription” in Astra Streaming: an application-level subscription to a Pulsar topic, which is used to consume messages. That is different from account billing. The API documentation covers topic-subscription operations, not payment recovery: Astra Streaming API operations.
Check the account’s billing status and credits
- Sign in to the DataStax account that provisioned Astra Streaming. Make sure you are checking the account associated with the affected service.
- Review the billing status and credit balance shown in the account. DataStax says a database may be temporarily paused when its credits run out. If the balance is exhausted, use the billing or credit controls presented in the account to address that issue.
- Check the saved payment method. Confirm that the card has not expired and that its details are current. If it is expired or the transaction is declined, update it using the account’s displayed controls, if available.
- Recheck the account’s displayed status. Use the account’s own billing information and any notices there to determine whether the payment or credit issue has been resolved.
DataStax’s pricing page says of a card-payment failure: “You will be notified and will have 30 days to resolve your payment issue or your database may be suspended.” That is the page’s stated guidance for the described case, not a guarantee that the same deadline or process applies identically to every plan or payment scenario. What to do if you are paying from India
The available official materials do not establish which payment methods are currently accepted for an Indian account, provide India-specific transaction-limit guidance, or document a country-specific recovery flow. Check the billing options and support route displayed in your DataStax account; if the available options or status are unclear, confirm them with DataStax before attempting a different payment method. Do not assume that a consumer-service payment method or an India-specific rule applies to this cloud account.
Separate a billing failure from a topic-subscription problem
If the payment and credit status look normal but your application is not receiving messages, investigate the Pulsar topic subscription rather than changing the billing card. Topic subscriptions concern message consumption; they are not fixed by changing an account payment method. The Astra Streaming API operations documentation addresses these technical operations, while billing status should be checked through the account.
