The ASUS ROG EVA-02 collection is the second major ROG collaboration with Evangelion, built around EVA Unit-02 and Asuka Langley Soryu. Announced globally on July 22, 2023, it pairs red, orange and green designs with PC components and peripherals. It is a group of separately sold products—not one boxed bundle—and in 2026 its Z790 motherboard and RTX 4090 belong to older hardware generations. ASUS’s global announcement and North American launch announcement establish the collection and its original U.S. prices.
What is the ASUS ROG EVA-02 collection?
It is an official ASUS Republic of Gamers product collaboration themed around Evangelion Unit-02 and Asuka. The collection followed ROG’s earlier EVA-01 line: EVA-01 used a purple-and-green identity, while EVA-02 shifts to red, orange and green. ASUS announced the global collection on July 22, 2023; the North American pricing announcement followed on October 17, 2023. ASUS’s global announcement
There is no single product count that defines a complete set everywhere. The global collection page lists 11 products, while the North American announcement gave launch prices for eight. ASUS also cautions that availability varies by region. The collection is best understood as related products sold individually, not a universally available bundle. The four core PC components
Z790 Hero motherboard
This is a premium ATX board for Intel’s LGA1700 desktop socket with DDR5 memory support. Its Unit-02 graphics, Beast Mode imagery and Polymo lighting make the theme visible even when the PC is open or illuminated. It is not a universal or current-generation motherboard: match it to an LGA1700-compatible CPU, DDR5 memory and a suitable BIOS state for the selected processor. The ASUS manual covers platform and software details.
Strix RTX 4090
The graphics card combines NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 GPU and 24GB of GDDR6X memory with an OC designation, Axial-tech fans, reverse-rotation fan behavior, 0dB technology and a custom vapor chamber. Its EVA-02 shroud and Asuka backplate are the distinguishing edition details; they do not make it a different GPU class from other RTX 4090 cards. It is physically large and power hungry, so verify the exact dimensions, connector arrangement, cable bend space and recommended PSU against ASUS’s product page before purchase.

- Product 2: Dual-mode Connectivity - ROG Spatha X Wireless Gaming Mouse allows you play wirelessly with 2.4 GHzRF, or with a wired USB-C cable connection
Ryujin III 360 ARGB cooler
This 360mm AIO adds a themed 3.5-inch display, artwork and three special 120mm ARGB fans with magnetic links. Plan around a case that supports a 360mm radiator in the position you intend to use; radiator placement can also affect GPU clearance and airflow. On a used unit, check the pump, tubing, display, cables and socket-specific mounting hardware, and confirm whether required software and firmware features still work.
Hyperion chassis
The full-size Hyperion EVA-02 case supplies the broadest visual foundation for a themed build. Unlike the motherboard or GPU, a case can house newer internal hardware if dimensions and mounting are suitable. It is a large, costly item to ship: inspect tempered glass, panels, internal brackets, lighting parts, screws and GPU-support hardware, and ask whether original packaging is available. The case is a design choice, not a performance upgrade.
Peripherals and accessories
Keyboard, keycaps and mouse
The full-size Strix Scope RX uses ROG RX optical mechanical switches. ASUS advertises wobble-resistant keystrokes, near-zero debounce delay and IP57 water and dust resistance; treat those as product claims and do not read the rating as spill-proof. The separate EVA-02 keycap set is explicitly for RX switches, so check the exact keyboard interface rather than assuming it fits a typical mechanical keyboard. The Gladius III Wireless AimPoint pairs the theme with a wireless-capable mouse; maximum DPI alone does not establish comfort or tracking suitability. For a used mouse, verify battery health, USB receiver and charging cable.
Rank #3
- Gold-on-black aesthetic: Striking color scheme to commemorate the 20th anniversary of ROG
- 24K gold elements: Crafted with genuine gold for a premium, elegant look, making it a standout piece for collectors
- New translucent black keycaps: Provide a refined, diffused lighting effect
- Superb build quality: Crafted aluminum alloy chassis with metal frame for a premium look while maintaining top-tier wireless performance
- Carbon fiber positioning plate: Delivers crisp typing feel and acoustics while effectively reducing keystroke vibrations
Herculx, grip tape and mouse pad
The Herculx is an adjustable support for a heavy graphics card, styled after EVA-02’s Progressive Knife. It can help support a card where the case layout permits, but it cannot resolve clearance, cable or airflow problems. The Harpe Ace grip tape is a tactile and cosmetic accessory; verify its exact mouse compatibility and consider that adhesive residue may affect resale. The Scabbard II EVA Edition appears on the global product page, but no North American launch price is stated in the announcement.
Thor power supply
The global page lists a Thor 1000W Platinum II EVA Edition, but the North American pricing announcement does not give it a U.S. price. Before treating it as a build option, confirm the exact regional model, connector standard, local warranty and applicable safety certification. Do not assume a themed PSU has the cabling or support you need for a particular system.
What the original U.S. prices add up to
ASUS’s October 17, 2023 North American announcement priced eight products. Their combined announced prices total $4,469.92 before tax, shipping, CPU, memory, storage, operating system and any unpriced products. This is a calculated subtotal—not an ASUS bundle price or the cost of every item on the global collection page.

These are historical launch prices, not evidence of 2026 stock or today’s resale value. ASUS’s U.S. collection page says availability varies by region; check local sellers for current listings and distinguish sealed old inventory from used hardware.
Compatibility checklist before buying
- CPU and memory: Pair the Z790 Hero with an LGA1700 Intel CPU and DDR5 memory. Check ASUS’s manual and CPU support information for BIOS requirements.
- Case fit: Confirm ATX motherboard support, RTX 4090 length and thickness, radiator placement, side-panel clearance and airflow. A front-mounted radiator can compete with GPU space.
- Power: Check the GPU’s connector and cable clearance, PSU capacity and connector arrangement for the exact parts in the build. The Herculx bracket is not a substitute for correct power or case fit.
- Cooling: Verify a 360mm radiator mount and the correct CPU socket hardware for the Ryujin III.
- Peripherals: Confirm the RX keycap set fits the keyboard you own, and check the mouse’s model-specific grip tape before ordering.
- Software features: Lighting synchronization and cooler-display animations may depend on ASUS utilities, firmware and software compatibility. The motherboard manual lists Armoury Crate, Aura Creator, Fan Xpert 4 and other utilities; do not assume every themed effect operates independently of software.
- PSU region: If considering the Thor edition, verify local connectors, warranty and certification rather than relying on its collection name or wattage alone.
Is the collection worth buying in 2026?
For Evangelion collectors
It can be compelling if official Unit-02 design, matching components and presentation matter more than obtaining the newest platform. Buy only after establishing the exact edition, condition, completeness and seller’s evidence; a vague “complete collection” premium is not proof of rarity or authenticity.
For performance-focused PC builders
The collection is not a straightforward route to the newest performance platform. The motherboard is an LGA1700/Z790 product associated with Intel’s 13th-generation desktop platform, and the GPU is an RTX 4090 from the previous flagship generation. Compare the standard hardware and newer alternatives on performance and total system cost; the EVA edition’s principal additions are styling, artwork and themed features.

Best Value
- ULTIMATE ANTI-SLIP BASE: High-density polyurethane material that grips onto the desk to provide extraordinary stability
- EXTRA-CUSHIONING: Soft, 3mm-thick base for comfort and the right amount of bounce feedback
- OPTIMIZED MOUSING SURFACE: Hybrid cloth surface ensures smooth movement and provides adequate friction for precise feedback
- TRIPLE GUARD PROTECTIVE COATING: Water-, oil- and dust-repellent surface is easy to clean and maintain
- TABLE-SIZED FOR WIDER SWIPES: Extended size at 900 x 400 mm for more room to maneuver
For a themed build
Buying selectively is usually the more flexible approach. A Hyperion case, peripheral or Herculx bracket can establish the look without locking the whole system to the themed motherboard and GPU. If you already own a compatible RX keyboard, the keycap set may be an option; if not, confirm fit before paying its collector price.
How to check that an EVA-02 listing is authentic
A red-and-orange paint job or marketplace title alone does not establish that a product is an official EVA-02 edition. Compare the listing with ASUS’s official collection page and request clear evidence before paying a premium.
Quick Recap
- Ask for photographs of the exact official model name and product label, not just stock images.
- Compare the artwork, color placement and backplate or chassis details with the official product listing.
- Request photographs of packaging, serial/product documentation and included accessories.
- Check completeness: missing motherboard antennas or accessories, GPU support parts, cooler mounts, mouse receiver or case brackets can change the value and usability.
- Ask for purchase documentation and confirm the seller’s description distinguishes an official edition from a custom-painted standard ROG product.
- For used items, inspect condition appropriate to the product: GPU connector and fans, motherboard socket and accessories, AIO pump and tubing, case glass and panels, or mouse battery and receiver.
Alternatives to buying the whole collection
- Use the EVA-02 case with newer internals: This preserves the most visible theme while allowing a current motherboard and graphics card, subject to fit and cooling checks.
- Choose peripherals only: A themed keyboard, mouse or mouse pad gives Evangelion styling without committing to a PC platform.
- Use standard ROG hardware with themed accents: This can reduce the collector premium and widen component choices, though custom-painted parts are not official EVA-02 editions.
- Buy a partial set: The case, support bracket or a compatible peripheral can deliver the look without paying for components that do not suit your build.
