ASUS’s ROG NUC (2025) is a sub-three-liter gaming mini PC that can be configured with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU and supports up to 96GB of memory. Those are maximum options, not what every model ships with: the GPU, installed RAM and other specifications depend on the exact configuration and market.
What is the ASUS ROG NUC (2025)?
ASUS Republic of Gamers announced the ROG NUC (2025) on June 19, 2025, positioning it as a compact gaming desktop built around Intel Core Ultra 9 processors (Series 2). ASUS describes it as a sub-three-liter system. The model year matters: the newer ROG NUC 16 is a separate product with different specifications.
ASUS lists dimensions of 282.4 × 187.7 × 56.5mm and a weight of 3.12kg. The base extends the footprint, so those measurements should not be read as the complete desktop footprint without qualification. Its compact chassis is paired with a substantial selection of display, networking and peripheral connections.
Is its RTX 5080 a laptop GPU?
Yes. The top graphics option is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, not a desktop RTX 5080 card. ASUS also lists configurations with RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Laptop GPUs. The shared RTX 5080 name does not make the laptop and desktop versions interchangeable; compare the specific GPU class and real-world performance rather than relying on the name alone.

In its October 22, 2025 review, TechRadar reviewed an RTX 5080 configuration and praised its compactness and gaming performance, while noting fan noise under load and a high price. Those are observations about the reviewed unit, not a guarantee of performance or noise levels in every setup.
Does the ROG NUC come with 96GB of RAM?
Not necessarily. ASUS’s 96GB figure is the maximum supported memory capacity, not a claim that every retail unit includes that much RAM. The regional ASUS specification page for one RNUC15JNK9X28AAU SKU lists 2 × 16GB installed and a 96GB maximum. Check the exact local listing for the included memory and supported configuration before buying.
ASUS describes tool-less access to memory and storage, and lists memory and M.2 SSD slots. That makes upgrades possible, but it does not mean every memory kit or drive will be compatible: confirm the limits and requirements for the specific SKU and region before purchasing parts.

What ports and wireless connections does it have?
ASUS lists a broad set of connections for a system this small:

- Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1
- USB-A and USB-C ports
- Two HDMI 2.1 outputs and two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs
- 2.5Gb Ethernet
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4
Exact port availability can vary by model or market, so use the specification page for the SKU being sold in your region.
How does it stay cool, and what are the trade-offs?
ASUS describes a triple-fan cooling system and dual vapor chamber. The small chassis concentrates powerful components, but cooling design alone cannot establish how loud a particular system will be during a long gaming session. TechRadar’s review of the RTX 5080 model specifically flagged fan noise under load, alongside its positive assessment of gaming performance.

It comes with a VESA mount, letting you attach it behind a monitor or on a wall to save desk space. A Kensington lock slot on the side adds extra protection against theft.
That review also noted less upgrade potential than older NUC designs. The ROG NUC offers access to memory and storage, but buyers should not assume that its compact format provides the same flexibility as a conventional tower or a DIY small-form-factor build. Consider the value of its size against noise, upgrade options and the price of the exact configuration.

How is the ROG NUC (2025) different from the ROG NUC 16?
ASUS announced the ROG NUC 16 in May 2026 as a separate, newer generation. It supports up to an RTX 5080 Laptop GPU and up to 128GB of DDR5 memory; those capacities should not be attributed to the 2025 model. ASUS directs buyers to its local representative for NUC 16 pricing and availability.
If you are comparing the two, match the exact GPU, included memory, storage, dimensions, ports, upgrade options and local price. The shared RTX 5080 Laptop GPU label alone does not establish equal gaming performance or value across generations.
ASUS cautions that actual specifications and availability vary by model and market and may change. Its regional ROG NUC (2025) technical specifications are useful for checking one market’s SKU details; confirm your local model before ordering.
