The AUKEY KM-G6 is a wired, full-size mechanical keyboard with tactile, clicky Outemu Blue switches and hardware-controlled, six-color backlighting. Historical reviewers liked its sturdy feel and typing feedback, but also found it loud; its lighting is not equivalent to fully customizable RGB, and the model’s current stock and warranty support are uncertain. It is worth considering only at a substantial discount if you specifically want a loud clicky keyboard.
What the AUKEY KM-G6 offers
The official manual names it the KM-G6 LED-Backlit Mechanical Keyboard. It has a conventional 104-key layout with a number pad, connects over USB, and lists Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android compatibility. Although some reviews and listings call its lighting RGB, the available descriptions support six-color LED backlighting with preset effects—not unrestricted per-key color selection.

How it feels for typing and gaming
Outemu Blue switches are clicky and tactile: the press has a noticeable feedback point and a sharp sound. That can make typing feel deliberate and satisfying if you enjoy audible feedback. It is a poor match for a shared office, a quiet bedroom, or a microphone-heavy stream. Historical reviewers found the KM-G6 pleasant and responsive to use, while also describing it as loud; one review noted high-pitched resonance and variation in switch weighting. These are historical impressions, not new sound or latency measurements.

The full-size layout is practical for players who use the number pad and familiar navigation keys. The manual includes game-oriented lighting presets, but the available evidence does not establish a measured latency advantage, dedicated macro controls, or competitive-gaming performance. The keyboard’s appeal for games is its straightforward mechanical input and standard layout, not specialized gaming features.
Build and everyday design
At roughly 1.2 kg, the KM-G6 is relatively heavy for a budget board. Historical coverage describes its construction as solid and stable on a desk, with restrained styling rather than an especially aggressive gaming look. The full-size arrangement also suits spreadsheets and data entry. It is wired only, and there is no included wrist rest or USB passthrough. These observations reflect historical reviews; the condition of an individual used or surplus unit will vary.

Lighting controls and useful shortcuts
The manual specifies nine lighting modes and hardware shortcuts, so basic lighting does not require a desktop app. The controls are capable of cycling effects, adjusting brightness and speed, and saving two custom key-selection patterns. Reviewers found navigating combinations less convenient than software controls.

Make a custom lighting pattern
- Press Fn + 9 or Fn + 0 to choose custom slot 1 or 2.
- Press Fn + Home to enter recording mode, then press the keys to include in the effect.
- Press Fn + End to save. If the configuration becomes confusing, Fn + PgUp restores factory settings.

The manual also lists game-oriented lighting presets, including FPS, Counter-Strike-style configuration, Call of Duty, RTS, League of Legends, Car, and NBA modes. Its formatting makes some labels or distinctions unclear, so consult the manual’s lighting table rather than assuming a preset configures game controls.
Compatibility, software, and support
AUKEY lists Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. A standard USB keyboard connection should cover basic typing without manufacturer software, but Android use depends on the device supporting USB host input and having a suitable adapter. Official console compatibility testing is not established here, so do not assume it will work with a particular console, tablet, smart TV, hub, or other USB device.

No KM-G6 configuration application is verified in AUKEY’s current downloads area. AUKEY’s current website provides official destinations, but a current KM-G6 purchase page was not verified. The manual’s service wording says AUKEY can provide after-sales service for products purchased directly from AUKEY and directs buyers who purchased elsewhere to their seller. That makes the seller, purchase channel, and region-specific warranty terms important for any present-day listing. A warranty duration mentioned in an older review is not a current promise.

The KM-G6 is an older model, and listings may be new old stock, open-box, or used. Check the return window and who handles defects before paying; do not assume an AUKEY warranty transfers to a marketplace purchase. One historical user review claims hot-swappable switches, but the manual and established editorial reviews do not confirm sockets for switch replacement. Treat hot-swap capability as unverified unless the exact unit and seller can demonstrate it.

- Confirm whether the listing is new, open-box, or used, and whether the pictured accessories are included.
- Check the return policy, seller identity, shipping cost, and written warranty terms.
- On arrival, test every key, the number pad, modifier keys, media shortcuts, all lighting zones, and cable stability.
- Look for missing or worn keycaps, dead LEDs, inconsistent or double-registering switches, and cable damage.
Historical coverage placed the KM-G6 around the budget-$50 range. Marketplace snapshots in 2026 showed $29.99 for new stock and $26.99 for open-box stock before shipping; these are seller-specific asking prices, not official pricing or a stable market rate (new-stock listing; open-box listing). As a buying rule rather than a verified market valuation, under about $30 can make sense with returns and a strong preference for clicky switches. Around $30–$50, compare current boards carefully; above $50, the KM-G6 is difficult to justify unless its particular feel is what you want and its condition is excellent.
Who should choose it—and who should look elsewhere
The KM-G6 may suit you if
- You specifically like loud, clicky tactile switches.
- You need a full-size board with a numeric keypad and prefer wired USB.
- Preset backlighting is enough; app-based color customization is not a requirement.
- You have found a genuinely low price, a usable return policy, and acceptable seller support.
Choose another keyboard if
- You need quiet operation, wireless connectivity, a compact layout, or an ergonomic setup.
- You want dedicated media controls, USB passthrough, modern per-key RGB software, or confirmed hot-swappable switches.
- You need clear current manufacturer-backed warranty coverage or active product support.
For a current full-size gaming-oriented alternative, the Redragon VATA K580 is positioned with richer features; Tom’s Hardware historically identified dedicated media keys and hot-swappable switches as differences from the AUKEY. Its official page showed $69.99 USD at the time of the cited price snapshot, so it costs materially more than clearance KM-G6 stock and is not necessarily a quiet option. Royal Kludge is another manufacturer with current full-size and other mechanical keyboard categories, but features and support vary by exact model; compare switch type, connectivity, software, and warranty for the specific board rather than treating the brand range as one product.
