Avalon raised $10 million to develop its debut MMO, according to a funding report published April 15, 2024. The game is pitched as a shared universe where players can move between official and player-created worlds with their character and progress intact. Avalon says it is coming to PC and consoles, but has not stated a release date in the materials reviewed.
What the $10 million funding round means
GamesBeat reported that BITKRAFT Ventures and Hashed co-led the $10 million round, with proceeds intended to fund development of Avalon’s first game, also called Avalon. GamesBeat’s report and the announcement excerpt it cites give differing participant lists, so neither should be treated as a single exhaustive roster. GamesBeat’s April 15, 2024 report framed the project as a next-generation MMO intended to connect assets and progression between worlds and appeal to both Web2 and Web3 players.
How Avalon says its MMO will work
One character across multiple worlds
Avalon’s official website presents the game as a shared universe entered through a central hub. From there, players would travel among official realms, player-created worlds, dungeons, PvP arenas and other experiences. The company says characters, progress, gear and creations persist across that universe, allowing players to explore, fight, trade, craft or attend events without treating each world as a separate character save.
Playing and creating in the same universe
Avalon places user creation alongside conventional MMO play. Its website promotes tools for shaping terrain, placing structures and setting world rules through natural-language instructions; it also describes a marketplace, player economy, guilds and creator revenue sharing. Those are company descriptions of the project’s design and planned capabilities, not proof that every tool or system is currently playable or available to creators.

What the Web3 label means here
The project’s Web3 positioning centers on connecting worlds and treating digital items as ownable assets. GamesBeat’s 2024 coverage discussed interoperability, while an OpenSea interview published March 31, 2025 describes Avalon as built on Base and discusses blockchain-based digital ownership and player-generated content. These sources explain the project’s framing; they do not establish that every planned asset or progression feature already works across all worlds.
Technology and partnerships announced in 2024
GamesBeat reported that Avalon planned to use Unreal Engine technologies Nanite and Lumen, a modular building system and AI-assisted creation tools. It also named Inworld AI as a partner for NPCs and Didimo for character variations. These details describe development plans reported in 2024, rather than a current, independently verified feature checklist.

In an email statement quoted by GamesBeat, CEO Sean Pinnock said: “we’ve developed several new unique technologies in Avalon that are brand new to gaming and have the ability to drastically shift the way games can be made and played.” That is Pinnock’s characterization of the project, not an independently demonstrated result.

Avalon’s website says the game is coming to PC and consoles. The available company and reporting materials do not specify a launch date, minimum PC requirements, confirmed console models, consumer editions, or a detailed split between features that are live and those still planned. No reliable player-count, performance or market-size figure is established by the cited sources.

For now, the clearest way to read Avalon is as a funded MMO in development with a stated ambition: combine persistent MMO progression with official and player-made worlds, creation tools and Web3-oriented ownership. The central promise is the design direction; the materials cited here do not confirm a finished or broadly playable implementation.
