For tracking Avowed locations, quests, equipment, and collectibles, use an interactive map or checklist whose region coverage and marker categories match what you are trying to find. The Hidden Gaming Lair reports the broadest current coverage in this set—30 maps and 9,209 locations, last updated October 6, 2026—but those are the publisher’s own totals, not an independently verified count. Other resources focus on narrower regions or checklist categories.
Avowed interactive map options
These resources have different scopes, so their counts should not be treated as competing totals for the same set of locations.
| Resource | Reported scope and features | Update information |
|---|---|---|
| The Hidden Gaming Lair Avowed map | The publisher reports 30 maps and 9,209 locations. Its site describes regional and subarea maps, a database covering weapons, armor, accessories, food, consumables, materials, and recipes, plus an in-game companion app with a live overlay, player tracking, and auto-discovery. | Last updated October 6, 2026, according to the publisher. Totals and features are publisher-reported, not independently audited. |
| The Hidden Gaming Lair locations guide | Reports 590 known locations across 22 maps. The guide says players can find spawn points, mark progress, and view tips for items. | Last updated October 6, 2026, according to the publisher. This is a narrower guide than the main map site; its 590-location figure is not a substitute for or a breakdown of the main site’s 9,209-location total. |
| Game8 Dawnshore map | A regional reference that describes points of interest such as unique weapons, armor, fast-travel points, and merchants. | Displayed as last updated April 4, 2025. Treat it as a dated Dawnshore resource, not evidence that it matches the coverage or features of a 2026 map. |
| Wand Avowed checklist | The Thirdborn checklist shows categories including quests, collectibles, weapons and other items, locations, NPCs, and miscellaneous entries. Its categories demonstrate one checklist’s structure, not exhaustive coverage of every region. | No update date is established here. |
Choose a map for the thing you need
Before relying on a marker, check the resource itself rather than assuming every Avowed map covers the same content.
- Region and subarea: Confirm that the exact region, town, dungeon, or subarea is represented.
- Marker categories: Look for the specific type of entry you need: quests, locations, unique gear, collectibles, merchants, fast-travel points, bosses, or other points of interest.
- Progress tracking: If you are clearing an area, check whether the service lets you mark discoveries or check entries off. A map that only displays markers may not work as a completion checklist.
- Update date and confidence: Prefer a resource with a visible, recent update date, but treat its coverage claims as claims by that publisher unless independently verified.
- Spoiler and screen controls: Check whether filters can hide categories or whether custom nodes, drawings, or an overlay are available. Do not assume a feature described in an older post is currently available.
Does Avowed show quest locations on the map?
If you are asking, “does this game show the location of quests and side quests on the map, or do you have to search and explore to find them?”, an external interactive map can help you look for listed quest-related markers. The available sources do not establish a complete account of Avowed’s in-game map behavior, so they do not support a universal answer about whether every quest or side quest appears automatically in the game.
#1 Best Overall
- Welcome to the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger.
- Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment.
- Explore an island home to many different environments and landscapes, each with their own unique ecosystem
- Mix and match swords, spells, guns, and shields to fight your way
- Companions from a spread of species will fight alongside you, with their own unique set of abilities.
For a specific quest, compare the external map’s region and marker categories with the quest you have in mind. A checklist may include quests alongside locations and items, but that does not establish that every quest is listed or that its marker is accurate.
Using an interactive map as a completion checklist
- Open the map for the right area. Verify that it covers the region or subarea you are exploring, not just a neighboring zone or a single regional guide.
- Filter to the entries you want. Select relevant categories such as quests, collectibles, equipment, locations, or NPCs when the service offers category controls.
- Mark progress as you explore. Use the service’s check-off or progress feature if available; otherwise, keep track separately rather than assuming the map records discoveries.
- Verify uncertain entries in the game. Treat the map as a navigation aid, especially when a location or item marker is unclear or the resource has limited update information.
“All collectibles” and “100% completion” are useful checklist goals, but a checklist’s categories and apparent size do not prove that it contains every relevant entry in the game.

How reliable are Avowed map markers?
Reliability depends on the particular map and when it was updated. In an Obsidian Forum Community post dated February 15, 2025, map project developer DevLeon wrote: “Please let me know what you think and keep in mind, that this project is very new and some locations might be wrong or missing.” That was a caveat about the project at that time; it should not be generalized to every Avowed map service or treated as a current completeness statement.
For the newer coverage claims from The Hidden Gaming Lair, the stated October 6, 2026 update date and totals are useful context, but the publisher does not thereby establish that every marker is accurate or that the map has been independently audited.

Treasure maps: a separate checklist item
PC Gamer’s February 21, 2025 guide reports 12 treasure maps, split evenly across Avowed’s four main regions. This is the guide’s figure, not a count established here from an original developer-published source. If you are tracking treasure maps, use that attribution and check that your chosen checklist has a treasure-map category.
