If an AWS Elemental MediaLive stream on YouTube has audio sync delay, first find where the offset begins: in the source, in MediaLive’s output, or only in YouTube playback. AWS documentation does not establish a universal MediaLive setting that fixes YouTube audio/video delay, and it does not identify Indian-language audio as a cause. Check the selected audio track and compare the same speech and video event at each stage before changing timing settings.
Start by locating where the delay appears
Compare the same identifiable event—such as a spoken word alongside a visible action—in three places: the source, MediaLive’s output, and YouTube playback. Note whether audio leads or lags and estimate the offset. This is a practical diagnostic approach, not an AWS-prescribed test procedure.
- Already out of sync at the source: Correct or retime the upstream source before changing MediaLive.
- Aligned at the source but out of sync in MediaLive’s output: Inspect the channel’s input, audio selector, and encode configuration.
- MediaLive’s output is aligned but YouTube playback is not: Investigate the downstream ingest or playback path. Confirm the difference with a direct output capture where possible.
Do not infer the cause from the language alone. The reviewed AWS documentation does not say that Indian languages, or selecting an Indian-language track, creates sync delay.
Check the audio selector and language track
MediaLive audio selectors choose the audio source used by an output, including separate language tracks. Confirm that the selector feeding the YouTube output points to the intended track, rather than another track or an unexpected source. AWS describes selecting an audio source per language when needed, but does not prescribe a language-specific delay setting. See AWS MediaLive audio selectors.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Do not treat pipeline locking as an audio-delay control
MediaLive pipeline locking aligns its redundant encoding pipelines; it is not documented as a way to correct the audio-to-video offset viewers hear. AWS describes two relevant approaches:
- Source-timecode locking: Depends on reliable embedded timecodes.
- Video-alignment locking: Compares visual signatures, does not require embedded timecodes, and requires compatible inputs carrying the same video content on both pipelines. AWS lists HLS, RTMP_PULL, and file inputs as incompatible with video-aligned locking; for those inputs, it runs open loop.
When investigating pipeline alignment, AWS identifies InputVideoAligned and PipelinesLocked as relevant metrics. They indicate pipeline alignment state, not a direct measurement of viewer-perceived audio/video sync. Consult AWS MediaLive pipeline locking for the applicable requirements and checks.

Understand timestamps, timecodes, and output synchronization
MediaLive attaches timestamps to output content for downstream synchronization. Timecodes are separate identifiers. Output timecode can be initialized from embedded timecode, UTC, or zero-based time. The optional output-timecode synchronization threshold concerns matching output timecode with input timecode; AWS does not describe it as a general audio-delay control. Changing it without establishing the source of the offset may create timecode discontinuities rather than fix viewer-facing sync. See AWS About timecodes and timestamps and AWS output timecode.

- Input type, and whether audio and video arrive multiplexed or separately.
- The audio selector and the language track selected for the output.
- Output group and destination mode.
- Whether audio leads or lags, and the estimated offset.
- Whether the same offset is present before MediaLive, in a direct capture of its output, or only in YouTube playback.
Without those details, a channel-specific setting would be guesswork. If the fault remains unclear, ask a qualified AWS MediaLive or YouTube live-streaming engineer to review the source and channel configuration.
Troubleshooting by symptom
| What you observe | What to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Audio and video are already offset before MediaLive | The source signal and upstream processing | Correct or retime the source, then compare again at MediaLive’s output. |
| The source is aligned, but MediaLive’s output is not | Input arrangement, selected audio source, and channel encode configuration | Verify the intended language track and inspect the actual channel settings before making a targeted change. |
| MediaLive’s output is aligned, but YouTube playback is not | The downstream ingest and playback path | Confirm the offset using a direct output capture, then investigate the downstream stage. |
| Redundant pipelines appear misaligned | Embedded timecode reliability, input compatibility, and whether both pipelines receive the same video | Use AWS’s pipeline-locking guidance and metrics; do not treat pipeline alignment as proof that viewer-facing audio sync is fixed. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a separate option for keeping uploaded videos running as a 24/7 YouTube stream; it does not diagnose or fix a MediaLive channel’s sync configuration. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it also automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
