Its current product specifications add detail on refresh rates, memory, storage and ports; they do not establish a performance or battery-life winner between configurations.
What is the AYANEO 3?
The AYANEO 3 is a Windows gaming handheld offered in configurations built around either the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 or Ryzen 7 8840U. Its defining feature beyond processor choice is a controller system designed to let users swap and rearrange controller modules. AYANEO describes it as the “world’s first modular handheld”; that is the company’s claim, not an independently verified industry distinction. AYANEO’s product page also promotes AYASpace 3.0 and detachable ABXY buttons.
Which processors and configurations are listed?
AYANEO lists four memory-and-storage combinations, all with LPDDR5X memory rated at 7500 MT/s and M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. The official specifications do not establish that every combination is available in every region or with every processor and display.
| Memory | Listed storage |
|---|---|
| 16 GB LPDDR5X | 512 GB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD |
| 32 GB LPDDR5X | 1 TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD |
| 64 GB LPDDR5X | 2 TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD |
| 64 GB LPDDR5X | 4 TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD |
AYANEO lists a maximum performance figure of 35 W. That is a manufacturer specification, not evidence of sustained power draw or gaming performance in a particular game.

Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 or Ryzen 7 8840U?
The launch materials establish the two processor choices, but AYANEO’s official materials do not provide controlled head-to-head tests of frame rates, thermals, or battery life. Buyers should therefore compare the exact processor, screen, memory, and storage on the particular SKU they are considering rather than infer a quantified performance gap from the model names alone. AYANEO’s initial announcement introduced the processor options.
What are the LCD and OLED display differences?
Both display families are listed as 7-inch, 1920×1080 panels. AYANEO’s current product specifications show the following refresh-rate choices:

| LCD | 1920×1080 | 60 or 120 Hz | VRR |
The launch announcement described the choices more briefly as 144 Hz OLED and 120 Hz IPS. The current product page lists additional refresh-rate variants, so check the exact display specification for the individual configuration rather than assuming every panel option has every listed rate. The launch announcement provides the historical summary; the product page has the fuller current specification.
How does the modular controller work?
The device ships with a standard controller module installed. AYANEO says other controller modules must be purchased separately as a set through its store, though sales-channel availability can change. The launch announcement says the included standard modules use conductive-rubber buttons and describes an optional set containing six controller modules, joystick caps, and a key puller.

For anyone interested in changing layouts or trying different controller components, modularity is a central practical distinction. It is not safe to assume the additional set is included: confirm the contents of the exact bundle and the current availability before purchase. The launch announcement quoted historical prices of US$99 pre-sale and US$139 retail for the optional set; those are launch-era figures, not current quotes.
What ports and expansion options does it have?
AYANEO lists two USB4 ports rated at 40 Gbps with DisplayPort 1.4, plus OCuLink, which the company describes as an external graphics connection rated up to 64 Gbps. It also lists a Micro SD slot and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. USB4 and OCuLink may be relevant for external displays or graphics equipment, but an eGPU setup depends on the specific enclosure, cable, and configuration; the port specification alone does not establish compatibility with every accessory.
