Most obtainable cloaks in Baldur’s Gate 3 are found in Acts Two and Three, through named vendors or specific chests. The main exception is the Deathstalker Mantle, which is a Dark Urge reward. This guide lists the 18 obtainable cloak entries by acquisition location, including access restrictions and useful effect notes. The common Cloak counts as one entry despite having three variants; four legacy entries are unobtainable.
Act One: Deathstalker Mantle
Deathstalker Mantle — Dark Urge reward
Sceleritas Fel gives the Deathstalker Mantle to the Dark Urge at camp. It is specific to that origin, so it is not a cloak every character can collect in a standard playthrough. After the wearer kills an enemy directly in combat, the mantle makes them Invisible for two turns, at most once per turn. Indirect kills and kills outside combat do not trigger it; some interactions can also cancel or prevent the effect. BG3 Wiki: Deathstalker Mantle
Act Two: Last Light Inn, Moonrise Towers, and nearby areas
Cloak of Cunning Brume — Mattis at Last Light Inn
Buy it from Mattis at Last Light Inn. Disengaging creates a fog cloud for one turn, with a 2 m (7 ft) radius. It can obscure nearby creatures and help blind them. BG3 Wiki: Cloak of Cunning Brume
Cloak of Protection — Quartermaster Talli near Last Light Inn
Quartermaster Talli sells it near the Last Light Inn waypoint. Its straightforward defensive bonuses are +1 Armour Class and +1 to Saving Throws. BG3 Wiki: Cloak of Protection

Cloak of Elemental Absorption — Ketheric’s chambers
Look in an opulent chest in Ketheric Thorm’s chambers on the second floor of Moonrise Towers. The cloak absorbs some elemental damage and adds 1d6 damage of that element to the wearer’s next attack. Although its tooltip says it recharges on a Short Rest, the item reference reports that it actually works once per Long Rest. BG3 Wiki: Cloak of Elemental Absorption
Thunderskin Cloak — Araj Oblodra
Araj Oblodra sells it on the main floor of Moonrise Towers. If you miss it there, she may sell it later at Crimson Draughts in the Lower City. When a creature affected by Reverberation damages the wearer, it must pass a DC 13 Constitution save or become Dazed. BG3 Wiki: Thunderskin Cloak
Vivacious Cloak — Grand Mausoleum
Find it in a locked traveller’s chest in the southeast corner of the Grand Mausoleum. When the wearer casts a spell while Threatened by a melee enemy, the cloak grants 8 temporary hit points. BG3 Wiki: Vivacious Cloak
Fleshmelter Cloak — House of Healing Morgue
Search the gilded chest above the pit in the House of Healing Morgue. The cloak deals 1d4 Acid damage to an enemy that deals melee damage to its wearer. BG3 Wiki: Fleshmelter Cloak

Nymph Cloak — Counting House or Ferg Drogher
Find it in High Security Vault No. 1 in the Counting House, or buy it from Ferg Drogher near the Requisitioned Barn in Rivington. Ferg’s special stock requires a Persuasion check. He will not sell it while Shadowheart is nearby unless she killed the Nightsong in Act Two. BG3 Wiki: Nymph Cloak
Reverse Rain Cloak — Akabi’s consolation prize
At the Circus of the Last Days, Akabi gives the cloak as a consolation prize if you fail to win the jackpot. Wearing it applies Wet: the wearer resists Fire damage but is vulnerable to Lightning and Cold. Resting can remove Wet until the cloak is unequipped and re-equipped. BG3 Wiki: Reverse Rain Cloak
Shade-Slayer Cloak — Sticky Dondo
Buy it from Sticky Dondo in the Guildhall. While the wearer is hiding, the cloak reduces the number needed to roll a Critical Hit by 1. BG3 Wiki: Shade-Slayer Cloak
Mantle of the Holy Warrior — Vicar Humbletoes
Vicar Humbletoes sells it at Stormshore Tabernacle. It lets the wearer cast Crusader’s Mantle as a level 3 spell and recharges on a Short Rest. BG3 Wiki: Mantle of the Holy Warrior
Cloak of the Weave — Helsik’s special stock
Helsik sells it at Devil’s Fee once her special stock is unlocked. The cloak grants +1 to Spell Save DC and Spell Attack rolls. Its Absorb Elements passive lacks necessary game-code support according to the item reference, so do not count on that component working as described. BG3 Wiki: Cloak of the Weave
Wavemother’s Cloak — Water Queen’s House
Look in an opulent chest behind Allandra Grey’s desk on the upper floor of the Water Queen’s House. Once per turn, Water Layer Protection grants +2 Armour Class and +2 Saving Throws, prevents Burning, and grants Fire resistance until the wearer takes damage. The item reference flags the in-game description of this condition as misleading. BG3 Wiki: Wavemother’s Cloak

Derivation Cloak — Balthazar’s chambers
Find it in a heavy chest in Balthazar’s chambers on the first floor of Moonrise Towers. Poisoning a foe heals the wearer for 1d4 hit points, but only the general Poisoned condition triggers the passive; coating a weapon with Basic Poison does not count. BG3 Wiki: Derivation Cloak

Cindermoth Cloak — Aelis Siryasius in the sewers
Aelis Siryasius wears it among greasy surfaces in the Lower City Sewers. When a nearby creature damages the wearer, the cloak can inflict Burning. The item reference clarifies that the effect requires a Dexterity save and triggers only on melee attacks, despite broader wording in the description. BG3 Wiki: Cindermoth Cloak

Cape of the Red Prince — Digital Deluxe Upgrade
The Cape of the Red Prince is in the Peculiar Clothing Chest inside the Traveller’s Chest at camp. It is exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Upgrade and is cosmetic, with no gameplay bonus. BG3 Wiki: Cape of the Red Prince
Common Cloak — Harper Lassandra and Facemaker’s Boutique
The common Cloak has three variants and provides no bonuses. Harper Lassandra wears one in the Shadow-Cursed Lands. The other two are at Facemaker’s Boutique: one on a shelf and one on a table in the backroom. BG3 Wiki: Cloak
Which cloaks are most worth seeking out?
- For broad defense: Cloak of Protection adds +1 Armour Class and +1 to Saving Throws; Cloak of Displacement gives enemy attacks Disadvantage until the wearer takes damage.
- For spellcasters: Cloak of the Weave adds +1 to Spell Save DC and Spell Attack rolls. Its Absorb Elements passive has a documented functionality issue.
- For a Dark Urge run: Deathstalker Mantle rewards direct combat kills with temporary Invisibility, but is not available as a general-origin pickup.
- For completionists: several cloaks are vendor stock rather than chest loot, and a few depend on special stock, a check, or a story outcome.
Legacy cloaks that cannot currently be collected
The cloak index lists Braindrain Cape, Cloak of Avarice, Minsc Cloak, and Phasmid Cloak as legacy content and marks them unobtainable. They are not ordinary collectible targets in the current game reference, so searching for them as loot or vendor items is likely to waste time. BG3 Wiki: Cloak index
