Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 reached PS5 and macOS on October 1, 2024, and Xbox Series X|S on October 2. The console and Mac rollout added official in-game mod support, 13 new cinematic evil endings, dynamic split-screen, Honour Mode changes, and a large set of fixes. It followed the PC release on September 5, 2024.
Important date context: this is a historical Patch 7 announcement, not the newest Baldur’s Gate 3 update in 2026. Larian later released Patch 8 on April 15, 2025, describing it as the game’s final major patch.

Larian described the console and Mac deployment as a rollout, so platform-store availability could be staggered rather than simultaneous for every player. What Patch 7 adds
13 new evil-ending cinematics
Patch 7 adds 13 cinematic endings for particularly villainous playthroughs, including outcomes connected to Origin characters and other evil narrative paths. These are conditional story scenes, not a new campaign or a new companion roster. You must reach the relevant story circumstances to see them.

Official in-game mod support
Patch 7 introduced an in-game Mod Manager and a supported mod ecosystem. PC creators can use the Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit, while console and Mac players can browse a curated selection through the game. Larian said more than 60 community-made mods were available for console and Mac at launch.

This does not mean that every PC mod is available on console or Mac. Mods must be created or uploaded using the Toolkit and pass Larian’s internal testing and approval process to qualify for the platform-supported browser. Availability can also vary by platform, with mods labeled for PC, Mac, and/or console compatibility.
Dynamic split-screen
In local co-op, split-screen can now merge into one shared view when players move close together and separate again when they move apart. It is a presentation and quality-of-life improvement for supported local multiplayer setups—not cross-platform multiplayer.

These changes can materially affect repeat runs, especially Honour Mode attempts built around familiar boss strategies.
More than 1,000 fixes and improvements
Larian described Patch 7 as containing more than 1,000 fixes and improvements. The update included Dark Urge fixes, changes to Jaheira’s party-following behavior, split-screen quest-marker improvements, Mod Manager stability and controller fixes, and adjustments to the game’s explicit-content setting and description. How mods work on Xbox, PS5, and Mac
The in-game Mod Manager is the supported way to discover and install eligible mods on these platforms. Before installing one, check:

- Whether it supports your platform.
- Any required dependencies.
- Whether other players in your multiplayer group need the same mod setup.
- Whether the mod affects an existing save.
A modded save may trigger a mod-verification or mod-issues workflow if required mods are missing, disabled, or installed at incompatible versions. Removing or updating a mod can also make a heavily modded save difficult to continue.
Mods disable achievements and trophies
Larian states that achievements are automatically disabled while mods are active. Players who want trophies or achievements should keep a clean, unmodded playthrough separate from a modded run focused on experimentation and customization.

- A PC save using curated mods approved for the destination platform may prompt you to download the required supported mods.
- A save using PC-only or otherwise unapproved third-party mods cannot be loaded on console.
- The same mod may need to be installed at a compatible version on both platforms.
- A platform that has not yet received the rollout may temporarily be unable to load a save created on the newer build.
Test an unmodded save first if a cross-save fails, and keep a backup before changing your mod list. Do not delete older saves while troubleshooting.
Cross-save is not cross-play. Patch 7 allowed supported progression to move between linked platforms; it did not let PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Mac players join the same multiplayer session. Cross-play was delivered later with Patch 8.
What Patch 7 does not include
- No cross-platform multiplayer: dynamic split-screen should not be confused with cross-play.
- No new permanent companion: the temporary camp character referenced in the Dark Urge-related material was not a new recruitable companion.
- No unrestricted PC mod library on console or Mac: platform support depends on Toolkit use, curation, testing, and compatibility.
- No universal feature parity claim: availability and behavior can differ between Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Mac, and PC.
How to install the update
- Close Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Check for an update through your platform’s normal game-library or game-management interface.
- Install the available update and launch the game.
- Open the in-game Mod Manager if you want to browse supported mods.
- Review platform availability, dependencies, and multiplayer requirements before installing anything.
- Keep an unmodded save or separate playthrough if achievements matter.
Do not rely on a universal download size or installation time. These can vary by platform, installation state, and whether hotfixes are bundled.
If Patch 7 does not appear
- Restart the console or Steam client.
- Check the download queue manually.
- Confirm that the device is online and has enough free storage.
- Verify that you own the supported platform edition; Patch 7 coverage here applies to Xbox Series X|S and PS5, not Xbox One or PS4.
- Allow for staged deployment when the official announcement says the update is rolling out.
Patch 7 in hindsight
Patch 7 was a major return point for players who wanted official mod support, more extreme evil-run cinematics, or a tougher Honour Mode experience. However, it should not be described as Baldur’s Gate 3’s final patch or current version. Larian later released Patch 8 on April 15, 2025 and described it as the game’s final major update.
