EA has previewed three maps across the season, with two planned for launch, alongside new weapons, REDSEC’s Rapid Royale mode, and combat changes involving vehicles and anti-air systems. These are announced plans, not final patch details: EA says features may change, be delayed, or be removed after testing and player feedback.
What EA has announced for Season 5
EA’s October 1, 2026 preview frames Season 5 as the start of Year 2 for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC. A September 30 community update adds a season-wide content outline. The announcements give a direction and a few launch-versus-later distinctions, but do not provide a Season 5 launch date or finalized update notes.
| Announcement | Game or scope | Timing or status |
|---|---|---|
| Three new maps | Battlefield 6 season content | Two planned for launch; one more across the season |
| New weapons | Battlefield 6 | Announced for Season 5; specific weapons and timing not stated in the preview |
| Rapid Royale | REDSEC | Announced for Season 5; detailed availability not stated |

| Anti-air system changes | Shared core gameplay | Planned to improve interaction between anti-air and aircraft; exact behavior awaits the update notes |
EA also previews changes to combat, matchmaking, and REDSEC playlist rotations, plus more Portal updates. The community update does not establish their final implementation or precise release timing. EA’s September 30 community update describes the season’s broader content plan.
How the planned combat changes could affect play
Vehicles: regeneration and damage
EA says it plans to change vehicle health regeneration and damage, with the stated aim of rewarding infantry positioning and flanking. That describes the intended gameplay outcome, not a confirmed balance result: the preview does not specify regeneration rates, damage values, affected vehicles, or exact rules.

The October 1 preview does not provide the launch date, so it does not establish the calendar date on which those notes will appear. Consult EA’s Season 5 and beyond preview for the official announcement; until the full notes are published, the combat descriptions should be read as plans rather than finalized patch behavior.

How Season 5 differs from earlier previews
EA’s July 30 community update previewed an earlier schedule: August’s Season 4 Phase 2 with Custom Lobbies, Spectator Mode, and Wake Island; September’s Phase 3 with Proximity Chat; and a winter Season 5 preview naming Platoons, Server Browser, Multiplayer Leaderboards, and three maps. The later September and October announcements provide the newer Season 5 context, including two maps planned for launch and Server Browser later in the season. Treat the July schedule as an earlier preview, not a substitute for later announcements. Read EA’s July 30 community update.
For historical context, Season 4 launched July 21 with Tsuru Reef and Naval Warfare, including a dynamic wave system and marine vehicles, alongside new weapons, REDSEC updates, Portal features, and general refinements. EA’s roadmap also covered water gameplay, movement and combat, vehicle and water interactions, interface, audio, Portal, and REDSEC. Those are Season 4 details, not the latest Season 5 news.
