Was it really a “shadow drop”?
The launch arrived on the reported date, but “shadow drop” needs a little context. A later Insider Gaming account says the Battlefield account announced the launch time on October 27, before REDSEC went live the next day. REDSEC also remained part of Battlefield’s live update cycle after launch. In its 2026 Season 5 community update, EA discussed Battle Royale playlist changes and the addition of Rapid Royale Solos and Trios.
