Battlefield 6 gameplay footage from closed-alpha testing was reported online before EA’s July 31, 2025 multiplayer reveal, and the game’s October 10 launch date was reported ahead of the event before EA confirmed it. The two developments became part of the pre-reveal story; a separate battle-royale playtest footage leak surfaced later, in September.
What leaked before the reveal
Closed-alpha gameplay footage
On July 22, 2025, Windows Central reported that substantial footage from Battlefield Labs closed-alpha testing had spilled online. It appeared before EA had offered a full official look at Battlefield 6. Windows Central described the footage as showing a game similar to Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4; that was the outlet’s characterization, not an official comparison from EA.
The launch date was reported early
Before the reveal, GamesRadar’s live coverage noted reports that retailer listings and a since-removed EA video pointed to an October 10 launch. GamesRadar’s coverage establishes that the date was circulating before the event, but the available reporting does not establish who first exposed it or exactly how the removed video became available.
What EA confirmed on July 31
EA held its global Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal on July 31, 2025, and officially announced an October 10, 2025 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, the EA App, and Epic Games Store. The date reported ahead of the event was therefore confirmed by EA at the reveal. EA’s announcement also set out the multiplayer features and modes:

Timeline: the pre-reveal leaks and what came later
- July 22, 2025: Windows Central reports Battlefield Labs closed-alpha gameplay footage online.
- Before July 31, 2025: GamesRadar notes reports of an October 10 date in retailer listings and a removed EA video.
- July 31, 2025: EA holds its multiplayer reveal and confirms the release date, launch platforms, and multiplayer details.
- September 12, 2025: GameSpot reports a separate leak of battle-royale playtest footage. Its account says testers were forbidden from publishing footage and the clips showed a map, vehicles, and combat. This was after the multiplayer reveal, not part of the July pre-reveal leak wave. GameSpot’s report also notes that Battlefield Studios had disclosed in early September that the mode would support 100-player matches; that figure describes the planned mode, not the leak’s reach or the released game’s player counts.
What the leak reports do—and do not—show
The July coverage documents reported closed-alpha footage and an early appearance of the launch date; EA’s July 31 announcement is the source for the confirmed release details. The September battle-royale clips belong to a later development. No reliable figure in these reports establishes how many people viewed or shared the pre-reveal leaks, so claims about their reach or impact should not be inferred from the footage itself.
