Battlefield 6 reached a peak of 747,440 concurrent players on Steam on October 10, 2025, its launch day, according to SteamDB. That is the game’s all-time Steam peak—not a count across PlayStation, Xbox, EA App, or Epic Games Store. The chart confirms the date, but not the exact number of hours after launch when the peak occurred.
How many players did Battlefield 6 get on Steam at launch?
SteamDB records an all-time peak of 747,440 concurrent players for Battlefield 6 on October 10, 2025. The figure is a Steam chart measure of players online at the same time, not total copies sold or the number of people who played over the whole launch period. SteamDB’s Battlefield 6 chart is dynamic, so its live count and other current figures may change; the cited launch-day peak is historical.
The headline’s “just hours after launch” wording should not be read as an exact interval: SteamDB establishes the date of the peak, not how many hours after release it happened.
What does the Steam peak tell us—and what doesn’t it?
A peak approaching three-quarters of a million concurrent players is strong evidence of a major launch presence on Steam at that moment. It does not establish Battlefield 6’s total audience across platforms, total sales, unique purchasers, or how many people are playing now. The Steam figure and EA’s launch-period numbers measure different things over different scopes and time windows.

What did EA report about the wider launch?
In an October 24, 2025 announcement, Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios described Battlefield 6 as the biggest launch in franchise history and reported these figures for the first three days or the three-day launch weekend:
| Measure | EA-reported figure | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Copies sold | Over 7 million | Sales during the first three days |
| Online matches | Over 172 million | Matches played during the three-day launch weekend |
| Streaming hours watched | Over 15 million | Viewing time during the three-day launch weekend |
These are publisher-reported launch metrics, not independent audits. They are not interchangeable with SteamDB’s one-moment, one-store concurrent-player peak, and they should not be added together. EA also said the launch set a franchise record for concurrent players, but its announcement does not identify that statement as the SteamDB count of 747,440.

Where and when did Battlefield 6 launch?
Battlefield 6 launched on October 10, 2025. EA listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the EA App, and the Epic Games Store. The Steam peak covers only one of those platforms or storefronts; the cited sources do not provide a corresponding total concurrent count across all of them.
EA’s July 31, 2025 pre-release overview described a single-player campaign, multiplayer, and Battlefield Portal creation tools. It named Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, and King of the Hill among the multiplayer modes, and listed Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer as class roles. That is launch-period context, not a guarantee that the live game’s modes or service details remain unchanged.

Why the number matters in context
Concurrent-player peaks show how many people are online at once on a particular service, making them useful for understanding a launch’s scale on that service. Sales totals cover purchases over a period, while match and viewing totals capture other kinds of activity. For Battlefield 6, SteamDB supplies the precise historical Steam peak, while EA’s announcement supplies broader, publisher-reported launch-period measures. Neither source, as cited here, establishes the game’s current player base.
