Battlefield Portal is Battlefield 6’s Community Experiences system: you can browse and join player-made modes, host a server, or create experiences using official templates or more advanced custom tools. The key choice is between Verified Modes, which offer constrained edits to familiar modes, and Portal Custom, which supports broader rules, scripting, and SDK-based map edits.
What is Battlefield Portal?
Portal is part of Battlefield 6, and EA says it is available to owners of the game. It lets players discover and play community-made experiences as well as create their own. EA describes it as “a massive sandbox where creators and players can push Battlefield to the limit.” EA’s Portal guide
Community Experiences vary in how closely they follow Battlefield’s core modes and rules. Their individual descriptions indicate available rewards, so check those details before joining if progression matters to you.
How do you find and play a Portal experience?
- From the Battlefield 6 main menu, open Community.
- Browse experiences or open the server browser. Filter or sort using available options such as experience name, mode, map, tags, player count, ping, and host region.
- Select an experience to read its description and check its available progression rewards, then join an available server.
An experience code identifies a creation; a lobby join code takes you to a particular hosted lobby. Use the correct code for what you are trying to find. EA says featured experiences are curated by Battlefield developers. If an idea is not available, you can try creating it with the available tools, provided it follows the Community Guidelines. Verified Modes or Portal Custom: which should you choose?

Choose Verified Modes for a familiar mode with selected rule changes. Choose Portal Custom if your idea needs custom logic, more detailed settings, or edited spatial layouts. How do you create a Verified Mode?
- Open the experience creation tools and select a supported official mode template.
- Adjust the settings the template exposes, such as teams, modifiers, restrictions, and map rotation.
- Review the experience description and progression information, then save or publish using the options shown in the builder.
The modes named in EA’s October 2025 launch guide—Conquest, Rush, and Breakthrough—describe the launch templates, not necessarily the current list. Check the live builder for available templates. Verified Modes have less customization than Portal Custom. EA Portal support guide

How do you create a Portal Custom experience?
Portal Custom begins with an empty template and gives creators more control. EA’s support guide lists settings for mode and game time; teams, player limits, human and AI players, and squad revives; gameplay modifiers; excluded classes, weapons, attachments, and gadgets; map rotation; and rules. The exact options available depend on the builder.
- Choose the empty Portal Custom template.
- Set the mode, time, player and team configuration, gameplay modifiers, exclusions, and map rotation you need.
- Use the Rules options for built-in configuration, or open the Script tab to add TypeScript game logic.
- Test the experience. EA describes local hosting as the way to test Custom experiences privately.
- Submit it for publishing. EA’s support guide estimates moderation can take around three hours; that is an estimate, not a guaranteed turnaround.
How do you create a custom map?
For spatial map edits, EA’s workflow uses the Battlefield 6 SDK with Godot. This is distinct from changing mode settings or writing rules in the Portal builder.

- Download the SDK and open its project in Godot.
- Edit the map using the SDK’s spatial editing tools.
- Export the level from the SDK project.
- Import the exported spatial file into your experience through the Portal website.
EA’s April 14, 2026 advanced guide also describes Portal Gadget, an equipable creator tool that can trigger custom gameplay logic at specific times and locations. It is an advanced option, not a requirement for making a basic Verified Mode. EA Portal support guide and EA’s advanced Portal guide
How do you host a Portal server?
- Select an experience and choose Host.
- Configure the server name and description, and set optional welcome or periodic messages if desired.
- Choose whether to protect the server with a password and configure its hosting options.
EA’s Portal guide describes persistent hosting, which can keep a server visible while it is empty. EA’s current FAQ says persistent-server access requires owning the full game. The same FAQ says an experience can be configured for up to 100 players, but hosting a published 100-player server requires Battlefield Pro. Portal changes with Battlefield 6 updates, and feature availability can depend on rollout stage and supported mode.
