EA and Battlefield Studios responded to Battlefield 6 Portal XP farms with two measures: they made parts of ordinary progression faster and introduced restrictions aimed at curbing XP-farming servers. October 2025 reports describe the changes and a limited curated-server test; they do not establish what Portal’s rules are today.
How Battlefield 6 Portal XP farms worked
Battlefield 6 Portal lets players create custom experiences. Early players used bot-filled servers and tuned rules to earn XP quickly, accelerating level progression and unlocking weapons and attachments. Reports described EA shutting down prominent farms, but the custom-server format made the problem an ongoing one: removing individual setups did not by itself remove the incentive to build replacements.
Some players also reported difficulty creating Portal servers and saw a “Global Game Quota Exceeded” message. Contemporary coverage said there was no official explanation for that message at the time. It should not be presented as a confirmed anti-farming restriction.
EA paired enforcement with faster standard progression
On October 17, 2025, Battlefield Studios announced progression adjustments intended to make ordinary play more rewarding. Wccftech reported that the changes went live across platforms that day:

- Career-rank gates were lowered for several assignments.
The figures and timing are from the October 2025 announcement and reporting, not a verified description of current progression rates. Battlefield Studios said, “We know progression is an important part of feeling rewarded for your time on the battlefield.” Wccftech’s October 17 report covered the announcement.
What the October 2025 Portal guardrails reportedly included
A PlayWrite report dated October 23 described restrictions and an initial test involving a curated list of community servers. These were reported test-period measures, not confirmation of today’s Portal settings.

- Curated community servers: Players could earn personal XP and unlocks on servers included in the curated list.
- Frozen stat tracking during the test: Participants’ stats were not tracked while taking part in the test.
- Activity and difficulty checks: The report described a difficulty threshold and in-game activity checks intended to catch AFK or repetitive behavior.
- Limits on farming patterns: Servers faced mixed-targeting requirements and per-minute XP caps.
These reported controls address more than simply whether a server contains bots: activity requirements and XP caps can limit how much players gain from repetitive or low-effort setups. The October 23 PlayWrite report describes the test and its guardrails.

The available reports cover October 13–23, 2025. They do not establish whether the curated-server test, XP caps, activity checks, or other Portal restrictions remain in effect on October 8, 2026. Treat claims about current rules as unverified unless EA or Battlefield Studios has published a newer policy or update.
