Why EA delayed Battlefield 6 Season 2
In an update on January 13, 2026, EA said it was extending Season 1 beyond its then-scheduled January 20 end date after continued development work and a review of community feedback. Extreme Measures
The opening phase introduced Contaminated, a map set around a German NATO airbase, and VL-7 psychoactive smoke. EA described the smoke as non-lethal and hallucinogenic. The launch content also included three weapons, two gadgets and the return of the AH-6 Little Bird helicopter.
Nightfall
Nightfall brought darkness-focused gameplay and Hagental Base, an underground map. The shift in visibility and setting gave this phase a different battlefield environment from the opening phase.

The final named phase included Operation Augur, a limited-time mode, along with additional content. EA’s current season page also recounts Hunter/Prey and Operation Augur as part of the season’s later progression.
What the gameplay trailer shows
EA’s official community post, titled “Battlefield 6 – Season 2 Official Gameplay Trailer,” presents the trailer as a look at content deployed across Battlefield 6 and REDSEC on February 17. Its description calls out Contaminated, the German NATO airbase assault, VL-7 smoke, three new weapons, two new gadgets and the AH-6 Little Bird. How the season is described now
EA’s live Season 2 page summarizes the full season as including two new maps, three vehicles, six weapons and limited-time modes. Those are season-wide content counts, not audience or performance statistics. The February roadmap and launch trailer focused particularly on Extreme Measures; EA’s current page adds the later Nightfall and Hunter/Prey chapters to the retrospective picture.
