Follow the objective text in your active quest log: community walkthroughs describe more than one way to trigger the opening and disagree about some waiting periods. Expect to travel across Customs, Woods, Interchange, Reserve, Shoreline and Lighthouse, collect evidence before turning it in, and meet Hideout, skill and combat requirements.
How to start Batya
Guides describe several possible opening clues rather than one universally consistent trigger. The official Escape from Tarkov Wiki lists a mattress with writing at the Customs Scav base, Reserve’s radar station, a Shoreline bunker north of the health resort, and mattresses at the Woods USEC camp. Other walkthroughs describe starting by following BEAR traces or checkpoints, or by inspecting a Bogatyr patch. Use the objective shown in your own quest log to decide which clue to investigate; do not assume every listed location is required in one run. See the wiki walkthrough, Tarkov.help and TarkovHead for their differing descriptions.
Inspect the BEAR evidence
The opening evidence includes the Bogatyr patch, which guides place at Customs, Woods, Reserve or Lighthouse. The exact route depends on the prompt your quest log gives you. After inspecting the relevant evidence, the wiki’s sequence directs you to speak with Jaeger about the BEAR patch.
What to collect on Woods and Interchange
Find Ryabina on Woods
Look for Ryabina north of the sawmill. The listed evidence includes Voevoda’s hostage evacuation report and Strelets’ amulet; guide spellings vary, including Strelets/Streltsov. Check the active objective wording for the item names and required hand-ins. Keep the amulet and any other quest-marked evidence rather than selling or discarding it before the game asks for it.

- A great gift for the holidays or to add to your Tarkov collection
- Perfect for raiding!
Search Gnezdo and Carousel on Interchange
Gnezdo, also called Nest in some guide labels, is east of the ULTRA mall. The walkthroughs associate this outpost with records, notes, a map and an audio tape. Carousel is inside the ULTRA mall near IDEA; its listed evidence includes squad members’ files, a note, a postcard, a recorder and a tape. The precise pickup names and placements differ between walkthroughs, so follow the quest log and use the location images on a guide page when available. Retain quest-marked items such as the postcard and recorder until their objective is complete.
How to complete the Moreman stage and Hideout requirements
Visit Moreman’s grave on Woods
Return to Woods and find Moreman’s grave near ZB-016, as described by the wiki. The listed pickups are the second code fragment, Moreman’s phone and a dogtag or token. Preserve the quest items for later stages when they are marked as such.

Craft the tapes and check the Hideout
Tarkov.help and TarkovHead describe crafting two Moreman tapes at a Workbench level 1. The wiki also lists Intelligence Center level 3 and gives a radio frequency of 35.70 and code of 27.893.2000. Treat these as stage-specific requirements and enter the values exactly as shown by the objective; check the quest log if its current wording differs from a guide. The Hideout and tape details are covered in the Tarkov.help Batya walkthrough, TarkovHead’s walkthrough and the wiki entry.
Meet the skill and no-death combat gates
Tarkov.help lists these skill thresholds for the quest, with the four skill levels corroborated by TarkovHead:

- Brand: Zhipengwen
- Included components: Cards
- Quantity: 1
- Light Machine Guns: level 5
- Assault Rifles: level 10
- Stress Resistance: level 10
- Strength: level 15
The same Tarkov.help walkthrough lists two elimination objectives: eliminate 15 targets without dying, and eliminate 4 PMC operatives without dying. Read the wording in your active quest log carefully; skill progression and how deaths affect a particular objective can depend on the task’s displayed conditions. The guides do not establish a universal workaround or guarantee that progress will carry over after a death.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Finish the Lighthouse and cultist investigation
Later stages move the investigation to the Lighthouse BEAR camp, where the walkthroughs list a note to find, followed by speaking with Prapor. The chain then sends you to collect cultist-related evidence around Shoreline and Woods; one guide also describes a Customs dorm alternative for a note. These are stage-specific alternatives, not evidence that every player must visit all three places. Use the location and item named by your current objective rather than treating every guide’s route as a single checklist.

Confirm the final report and wait in the correct stage
The wiki describes the final stage as reading the Agent network deployment report on a return raid and completing the quest after a six-hour wait. Tarkov.help describes a 12-hour wait earlier in the chain. Those timings refer to different stage descriptions and are not interchangeable. Check the active quest log for the current timer and required raid action before waiting or making another trip. The timing accounts appear in the wiki walkthrough and Tarkov.help’s quest page.
