bcgcbpro2430u120.dll Won’t Load: Repair the Right App

bcgcbpro2430u120.dll is a third-party application file, not a Windows system component. When bcgcbpro2430u120.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, repair the application that installed it instead of copying a replacement into a Windows folder.

What this DLL is

The file’s embedded metadata identifies it as BCGControlBar Professional DLL, associated with BCGSoft Ltd. BCGControlBar Professional is an MFC user-interface library that software developers bundle with their own Windows programs.

The filename is consistent with BCGSoft’s naming convention:

  • bcgcbpro identifies the BCGControlBar Professional library.
  • 2430 is consistent with a 24.3-era library build.
  • u indicates a Unicode build.
  • 120 identifies the Visual Studio 2013 toolset designation used in the filename convention.

That interpretation comes from the naming pattern rather than an official file-specific record. Public inventories associate this exact filename with Nitro Pro 13.2.6.26, with a reported file version of 24.3.0.2. Nitro Pro may therefore be the affected application, but it is not necessarily the only program that can contain this reusable commercial library.

Public records list both 32-bit and 64-bit variants. One listed 32-bit record is approximately 8.31 MB. These records are not a guarantee that every legitimate installation has the same size or version.

Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the affected application

Time needed: 10–30 minutes

This is the most likely fix. The application installer should restore the DLL beside the program that needs it, along with any other files required by that particular release.

If the application is still listed in Windows

  1. Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Choose Installed apps in Windows 11, or Apps & features in Windows 10.
  4. Find the program named in the error. If Nitro Pro is named, select Nitro Pro.
  5. Select the three-dot menu, then choose Modify, Change, or Repair, if available.
  6. Follow the repair wizard.
  7. Restart Windows and open the application again.

If there is no repair option, uninstalling and reinstalling from the application developer’s official installer is the safer path.

If the application is no longer installed

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  2. Remove any incomplete or damaged entry for the affected application.
  3. Restart Windows.
  4. Download the installer from the application developer’s official website or use the original installation media.
  5. Install the same product family and architecture as the existing license or deployment.
  6. Start the program from its normal shortcut.

Do not use a random DLL download as a substitute for the application installer. A replacement can be the wrong release, wrong architecture, modified, or missing its own dependencies.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to confirm the repair

The fix worked if the application opens without the DLL message and its normal interface appears. You can also right-click the application shortcut, select Properties, choose Open File Location, and check whether the program directory now contains the required application files.

If the same message remains, note the full path shown in any diagnostic message. The executable requesting the DLL identifies which installation must be repaired.

Fix 2: Verify the application’s files

Time needed: 5–20 minutes

Some launchers provide a built-in repair or verification command. This is particularly common with games and subscription software.

  1. Open the application’s launcher.
  2. Select the affected application.
  3. Open its gear, three-dot, or settings menu.
  4. Look for Verify integrity, Verify files, Repair, or Scan and repair.
  5. Run the check and allow the launcher to replace damaged files.
  6. Restart the launcher and start the application.

This process is preferable to manual copying because it normally checks the complete, matching file set. If no verification command exists, return to the application’s official installer and perform a repair or clean reinstall.

Fix 3: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file

Time needed: 5–15 minutes

Security software may remove or quarantine a DLL after an update, a scan, or a change in detection rules.

  1. Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
  2. Select Virus & threat protection.
  3. Select Protection history.
  4. Review recent entries for the affected application or bcgcbpro2430u120.dll.
  5. Expand an entry to see its location and action.
  6. Do not restore the file automatically. First confirm that the application came from its legitimate developer and that the file path belongs to that installation.
  7. If the file is trusted and the detection is understood, use the available Restore or Allow on device action.
  8. Start the application and test it.

If Defender identifies the file as malware or you cannot verify its origin, leave it quarantined. Uninstall the affected application, run a full security scan, and reinstall it from trusted official media. Restoring a suspicious DLL is not a repair.

Fix 4: Check 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility

Time needed: 10–25 minutes

A 32-bit application needs its compatible 32-bit dependency set. A 64-bit application needs the 64-bit build. Mixing files from different application releases can cause errors such as “not designed to run on Windows” or “specified module could not be found.”

To identify the application architecture:

  1. Open Settings > System > About.
  2. Check System type to learn whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit.
  3. For the application, open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  4. Start the program if possible, then check the Details tab.
  5. On some Windows versions, a 32-bit process is marked with *32 or (32 bit).

Windows 64-bit can run many 32-bit applications, so the Windows architecture alone does not identify the required DLL variant. Use the application’s installer and documentation to obtain the matching build.

If you manually moved the application folder, restore it by reinstalling. Applications often depend on their original directory layout, registry entries, side-by-side files, and runtime components.

Fix 5: Repair the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime if a dependency is missing

Time needed: 10–20 minutes

A message saying “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean the named DLL itself is absent. The DLL may exist while another library it needs is missing.

Microsoft provides separate current packages for:

  • vc_redist.x86.exe for 32-bit applications
  • vc_redist.x64.exe for 64-bit applications
  • vc_redist.arm64.exe for ARM64 applications

Download the appropriate package from Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable page. On 64-bit Windows, installing both x86 and x64 can be appropriate when both 32-bit and 64-bit applications are installed.

After downloading:

  1. Close the affected application.
  2. Run the Microsoft Redistributable installer.
  3. Accept the license terms.
  4. Choose Repair if offered. Otherwise complete the installation.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Test the application again.

The current v14 package supports applications built with newer Visual Studio releases, but older applications may require bundled or older runtime components. Repairing Visual C++ can fix a missing dependency; it does not recreate bcgcbpro2430u120.dll itself.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not uninstall every Visual C++ entry. Several versions can coexist, and unrelated applications may rely on them.

Fix 6: Use Windows Update and repair Windows components

Time needed: 20–45 minutes

This is a secondary repair because bcgcbpro2430u120.dll is not a protected Windows file. Use it when other Windows applications also fail, updates are corrupted, or system component damage is suspected.

Rank #2

First check for updates:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Windows Update.
  3. Choose Check for updates.
  4. Install available updates and restart when required.
  5. Test the affected application.

If the problem remains, run DISM followed by SFC:

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Type Command Prompt.
  3. Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
  4. Enter this command and press Enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  1. Wait for it to finish.
  2. Run:
sfc /scannow
  1. Restart Windows after SFC completes.

DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows files. Neither command normally restores a missing third-party application DLL. If the application alone reports the error, repair that application again after completing Windows repair.

If repeatedly hunting through Windows components and interpreting repair output is slowing you down, Outbyte PC Repair can show what its free scan detects; repairs are performed by the full version, but reinstalling the affected application remains the definitive fix for this file.

Fix 7: Update drivers only when other evidence points there

Time needed: 15–30 minutes

A display, storage, or chipset driver is not the normal owner of this DLL. Consider driver work only if the application began failing after a graphics or hardware change, Windows reports device problems, or other programs show related crashes.

  1. Right-click the Start button.
  2. Select Device Manager.
  3. Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters or Storage controllers.
  4. Right-click the device and choose Update driver.
  5. Select Search automatically for drivers.
  6. Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
  7. If the issue began immediately after an update, open Properties > Driver and use Roll Back Driver, when available.

Do not remove an entire device category or install unrelated driver packages to fix a missing application DLL. If driver versions across several devices must be checked manually, Outbyte Driver Updater can show what its free scan detects; driver installation is handled by the full version, and it is not a replacement for repairing the application that owns this DLL.

Fix 8: Check Windows Features only for a specific application requirement

Time needed: 5–10 minutes

Windows Features do not normally supply BCGControlBar Professional. However, an older application may separately require a Windows component such as .NET Framework.

  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Type optionalfeatures and press Enter.
  3. Review the enabled features without randomly selecting components.
  4. Enable a feature only when the application’s official requirements identify it.
  5. Select OK and restart if Windows requests it.

Do not enable legacy features as a general DLL repair. If the application installer includes its own prerequisite check, use that instead.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not register or copy this DLL manually

regsvr32 is for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a generic installation command. There is no reliable evidence that this BCGControlBar runtime DLL requires COM registration.

Running a command such as the following will normally not repair the application:

regsvr32 bcgcbpro2430u120.dll

It may produce a message that DllRegisterServer was not found. The correct action is to restore the file through the application’s installer.

Do not place it in:

  • C:WindowsSystem32
  • C:WindowsSysWOW64
  • Another application’s folder

Those locations do not make an application dependency correct. They can also introduce architecture conflicts and make later troubleshooting harder.

Causes of the error

Likely cause Appropriate response
Application files were deleted or damaged Repair or reinstall the application
An application update failed Use the launcher’s repair or verification command
Antivirus quarantined the file Inspect Protection history and verify provenance
Wrong application architecture or release Install the matching application build
A dependent runtime is missing Repair the appropriate Visual C++ package
The application folder was moved Reinstall to restore its expected layout
Windows components are damaged Run Windows Update, DISM, then SFC
Malware or storage corruption is involved Scan the system and reinstall from trusted media

“The specified module could not be found” can refer to a dependency of the named DLL. “Not designed to run on Windows” usually points to corruption, an incompatible architecture, or an incomplete replacement. Neither message proves that the DLL itself is malware.

When to use System Restore

Time needed: 20–60 minutes

Use System Restore only if the problem began after a system change and a suitable restore point exists.

  1. Open Start and search for Create a restore point.
  2. Open the result.
  3. Select System Restore.
  4. Choose a restore point from before the failure began.
  5. Review the affected applications and updates.
  6. Confirm the restore and let Windows restart.

System Restore can reverse applications, settings, and updates installed after the selected point. It does not replace the need to reinstall a damaged application if the DLL remains absent.
