For your first run in Sniper Elite: Resistance, scout before you commit: mark enemies, locate alarms, and choose an exit. Stealth and aggressive combat are both viable, and you can change your approach when a plan falls apart. Rebellion Lead Level Designer Beck Shaw’s advice is to plan at least a little—even if you prefer to run and gun.
Make a plan you can change
There is no need to force a pure-sniper playstyle. You can approach an encounter from cover and avoid detection, or take a more aggressive route. The useful beginner habit is to prepare for either: carry a balanced loadout, check your surroundings, and know where you can retreat if enemies spot you. Shaw puts the choice plainly: “The choice is completely up to you.” (Xbox Wire, January 30, 2025)
Before firing, use binoculars and focus to mark enemies and assess the area. Look for alarms and identify a fallback route. If stealth breaks down, move to cover and use your secondary weapon rather than trying to continue a plan that no longer fits the situation.
Explore before moving from marker to marker
The campaign has eight missions set across large maps. The main objective gives you direction, but exploring can reveal side objectives, alternate insertion points, mission information, and easter eggs. Search soldiers and investigate nearby areas as you move through a level instead of treating the objective marker as the whole mission.

Look for Resistance posters
Finding a Resistance poster in a campaign mission unlocks a separate, repeatable Propaganda Mission. These are timed challenges built around stealth, combat, or sniping, with their own rules, weapons, and scoring.
Use workbenches to fix a loadout mismatch
Workbenches unlock weapons and customization options, and let you change your loadout during a mission. The official listings describe attachments such as scopes, stocks, barrels, and magazines, as well as ammunition choices including armor-piercing rounds and non-lethal options. Treat a workbench as a chance to adapt to the task: for example, change a scope if it does not suit the distances you are facing. The available sources do not establish a single best weapon build.
Give long-range shots time and attention
Rifle shots are affected by gravity, wind, and heart rate, which you account for while zeroing the sights. A distant target is not simply a point-and-click shot: pause to settle and use the aiming information the game provides before firing. The official listing does not provide numeric bullet-drop tables or an optimal zeroing distance, so there is no evidence-based universal setting to recommend.

Check controls and comfort options
If camera motion, readability, or controls are a concern, review the settings on your platform. The PlayStation listing identifies options for visual comfort, subtitles and captions, stick sensitivity and inversion, and playing without motion controls or controller vibration.
