The game is built around switching among unlocked skills, Slorm Reapers, items, and classes, so you do not need to treat your first choices as a permanent build.
Choose a class by combat feel, not a supposed ranking
The three classes are the Mighty Knight, Fierce Huntress, and Mischievous Mage, as named in the official Steam listing. The available official descriptions do not establish a universally easiest or strongest class, so start with the character fantasy or style of combat that sounds most enjoyable.
As you play, compare classes by the active skills that appeal to you and how comfortable their combat feels. Treat any claim that one is objectively best for beginners as a personal preference unless it is backed by specific, current evidence.
Experiment with skills before settling into a build
Each active ability has its own skill tree, and the game also has an Ancestral Skill Tree. Slormite Studios’ Steam listing describes more than 200 abilities, upgrades, and passives per class, as well as more than 150 element-related skills and passives in the Ancestral tree. These are publisher product-description figures; the listing does not establish when the counts were last updated.

Try the skills you unlock and notice which ones are satisfying and manageable in actual play. The developer describes switching among previously unlocked skills, Slorm Reapers, items, and the three classes as part of the game, making experimentation a sensible way to learn rather than a detour from a fixed build.
- Read each skill’s effect and upgrades before investing your attention in it.
- Try different unlocked skills instead of assuming the first one you like must carry you through the whole game.
- Notice how skills interact with your weapon and equipment; judge a setup by how its parts work together, not by a single item or ability in isolation.
Understand what makes a Slorm Reaper distinctive
Slorm Reapers are distinctive weapons, not just another interchangeable equipment drop. The Steam listing describes 120 unique Slorm Reaper weapons, each with its own effect, that can be leveled and evolved. Read the effect before choosing one, then consider whether it supports the skills you are using.

Because the listing’s count is a publisher figure with no stated last-update date, treat it as a description of the game’s breadth, not a patch-specific inventory guarantee. The useful beginner habit is to understand what a Reaper changes and whether that effect suits your current approach.
Read equipment as a progression system
The game’s equipment includes normal, magic, rare, epic, and legendary items. The official listing describes randomized properties and upgrade potential, including more than 200 unique affixes for legendary items. A rarity label alone does not prove that a drop is useful: compare its properties with the skills and weapon effect you are building around.

When comparing two pieces of gear, ask what each property contributes to your setup. A less flashy item may fit your skills better than a higher-rarity drop; the sources do not establish a universal gear tier list or best-in-slot choice for new players.
Learn reforging and upgrades as their materials appear
Slormite Studios says equipment can be reforged and upgraded using materials that include Fragments, Slormelines, and Slormandrites, and describes reinforcement as an ongoing system. Learn what each material is for when the game introduces it, and make upgrade decisions based on the equipment you are actually using.

The official material does not establish a single best spending priority for beginners. Rather than following an unsupported universal rule, understand the material’s stated use and consider whether an upgrade improves your current gear or a setup you intend to keep using.

For example, a community post is titled “8 Things I Wish I Knew BEFORE Starting The Slormancer,” and another describes a beginner guide as covering basics separately from advanced topics such as damage, defenses, crafting, and a planner. Those titles indicate common reader interests, not official confirmation of a specific mechanic or optimal strategy. Check when advice was written before relying on details such as a farming route or build recommendation.
