Beginner Tips and Tricks for Upload Labs: Build Your First Profitable Network

Start Upload Labs with a small downloader-to-uploader-to-collector chain, then use income per second to decide what to upgrade before expanding your node graph.

Start with one simple chain: downloader → uploader → collector. Once it earns money, watch the displayed income per second and improve whichever part of the chain is holding it back. Add file types, processing, and organization only when you understand what each new node contributes.

What to build first

Upload Labs is a sci-fi management game built around connecting nodes to download, process, and upload files. For a first working network, the unofficial Upload Labs Fans Community Getting Started Guide recommends a straightforward downloader-to-uploader-to-collector flow.

  1. Follow the in-game tutorial and place a downloader and an uploader.
  2. Connect the downloader’s output to the uploader’s input. Connections generally flow from outputs to inputs, left to right.
  3. Connect the uploader’s money output to a collector.
  4. Check that the chain is producing income before adding more nodes.

This small loop gives you a visible source of income and makes it easier to identify which part needs attention. A large graph is not useful if you cannot tell where its files or money stop moving.

Improve the part that limits your income

Keep an eye on the displayed money-per-second rate, not only your cash balance. The Getting Started Guide recommends increasing download and upload speeds as funds allow. Before expanding, inspect the existing line: if one stage is slow, more nodes may add complexity without increasing the rate you care about.

TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 Router (Archer AX21 V5)
  • DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
  • AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
  • CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
  • EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
  • OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
  • If downloads are the constraint, consider improving the downloader’s speed.
  • If files arrive faster than they can be uploaded, consider improving upload speed.
  • After an upgrade, check the displayed income rate again to see whether it helped.

That is a better early decision rule than buying every available node. Upgrade the current pipeline when throughput is the problem; expand when a new node gives you a useful process or route.

Compare file types instead of assuming one is best

The community’s Beginner Tips & Tricks guide suggests trying Image Downloaders early, saying image files can earn more than text files. Treat that as an early-game recommendation, not a universal best build: the income you see also depends on available upgrades and the throughput of the line.

TP-Link AXE5400 Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router, 2025 PCMag Editors' Choice
  • Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router - Up to 5400 Mbps WiFi for faster browsing, streaming, gaming and downloading, all at the same time(6 GHz: 2402 Mbps;5 GHz: 2402 Mbps;2.4 GHz: 574 Mbps)
  • WiFi 6E Unleashed – The 6 GHz band brings more bandwidth, faster speeds, and near-zero latency; Enables more responsive gaming and video chatting
  • Connect More Devices—True Tri-Band and OFDMA technology increase capacity by 4 times to enable simultaneous transmission to more devices
  • Unique Design, More RAM, Better Processing - A unique housing design provides optimal heat dissipation, combined with a 1.0 GHz dual-core CPU and 512 MB High-Speed Memory, the AXE75 is designed for long-term reliability and performance.
  • EasyMesh-compatible - Extend network range even more by adding EasyMesh-compatible routers, extenders, or wireless powerline adapters for a seamless, whole-home connection. Eliminate dead zones, drops, and lag as you move across your home.

When you have access to another downloader type, compare the displayed income per second before and after switching. Later download types become available as progression continues, so revisit the choice when your network or upgrades change.

Add processing when you can support it

Processing can add value, but it also adds prerequisites and routing decisions. The unofficial Getting Started Guide describes connecting a Processor Cell to clock speed, then using a Virus Scanner. It says the scanner quadruples the value of clean text files and describes a 50% infection chance. Those figures are claims from that community guide, not independently verified current-build values; check the in-game descriptions and results in your version.

TP-Link AC1200 Gigabit Dual Band WiFi Router (Archer A6)
  • Dual band router upgrades to 1200 Mbps high speed internet (300mbps for 2.4GHz plus 900Mbps for 5GHz), reducing buffering and ideal for 4K stream
  • Full Gigabit Ports - Gigabit Router with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, ideal for any internet plan and allow you to directly connect your wired devices
  • Boosted Coverage - Four external antennas equipped with Beamforming technology extend and concentrate the Wi-Fi signals
  • MU-MIMO technology - (5GHz band) allows high speeds for multiple devices simultaneously
  • Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home

The routing principle is more important than copying a particular setup: send useful clean files onward, and keep infected files from being uploaded as ordinary revenue. The guide describes routing infected files to quarantine or requests. Confirm what those destinations do in your current interface before building around them.

Keep the node graph readable

A consistent left-to-right layout makes it easier to follow the flow from download through processing to upload. Group related stages together, and leave enough visual space to trace connections and spot a line that has stopped producing.

  • Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
  • Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks

The community guides say folders can consolidate matching outputs into one stream and reduce bandwidth use. They also describe node groups as a way to encapsulate a workflow later on. Use these organizational tools as the network grows; they are most helpful when a layout has become hard to inspect, rather than as extra complexity in your first loop.

Spend tokens with your next milestone in mind

The Getting Started Guide describes orange tokens as a separate currency earned from pickups and achievements. It recommends prioritizing permanent upgrades early over temporary boosts and highlights Auto Collector. Since token costs and unlock order can change, compare the current shop’s cost and effect before spending rather than relying on an older cost list.

A useful choice is whether a permanent improvement helps your continuing progression more than a temporary boost helps right now. Make that comparison using the options currently shown in your game.

Leave advanced systems until the basic loop is clear

The community Getting Started Guide discusses request uploading, GPU mining, node groups, and research as later systems. It gives one billion funds as the research unlock point, but that threshold has not been independently confirmed for the current build. Check the live interface for the unlock condition before planning around it.

Upload Labs released on Steam on October 3, 2025, while the community guide index lists its beginner and getting-started pages as updated January 15, 2026. Those dates do not establish that every mechanic or value in the guides matches a later game build. Use the guides for a starting route and the current game UI for exact costs, thresholds, and effects.
