Best 120Hz 4K TVs for PS5 and Xbox Series X (2026)

The Samsung S95H is the strongest all-around PS5 and Xbox pick, while the LG C6/C6H adds Dolby Vision gaming. Here’s how to verify 4K/120Hz, VRR, ports, and room fit.

The Samsung S95H OLED is the strongest all-around pick in the current recommendations for PS5 and Xbox Series X; the LG C6/C6H is the better fit if Dolby Vision gaming matters to your Xbox setup. For a lower-cost OLED, consider the LG B5, while the Roku Pro Series 2025 is a budget 120Hz option. Before choosing, verify that the exact model and HDMI port support 4K at 120Hz, then weigh VRR, room lighting, and how many devices need high-bandwidth HDMI.

Best 120Hz 4K TVs at a glance

TV Best fit Gaming features reported Main trade-off
Samsung S95H OLED Best overall for PS5 and Xbox Series X Four HDMI 2.1 ports; up to 4K/165Hz; VRR No Dolby Vision gaming on Xbox; matte screen can make QD-OLED blacks look grayish in ambient light
LG C6 OLED / C6H Premium alternative, especially for Xbox Dolby Vision gaming Four HDMI 2.1 ports; up to 4K/165Hz; VRR; Dolby Vision support More reflections than the S95H; 77- and 83-inch versions use the C6H name
LG B5 OLED Lower-cost OLED for a dimmer room Four HDMI 2.1 ports; 4K/120Hz; VRR Less bright and weaker in picture quality than higher-tier options; reflection handling favors dimmer rooms
Roku Pro Series 2025 Budget 120Hz option Two high-bandwidth inputs; VRR; 120Hz support Less bright and colorful than pricier options; does not exceed 120Hz

These model assessments reflect RTINGS recommendation guides updated in 2026: its Xbox Series X guide, PS5/PS5 Pro guide, gaming TV guide, and 120Hz TV guide. Availability, model names, and port configurations can vary by country and size; check the full model code and local listing before buying.

Which TV should you choose?

Samsung S95H OLED: best all-around choice

RTINGS recommends the S95H for both consoles. Its four HDMI 2.1 ports, reported support for up to 4K/165Hz, and VRR give you room to connect multiple high-bandwidth devices. The matte screen coating and brightness are helpful in brighter rooms, but ambient light can make QD-OLED blacks appear grayish. Xbox owners should also note that this model does not support Dolby Vision gaming.

LG C6/C6H OLED: choose it for Dolby Vision gaming

The C6 is a premium alternative with four HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR, and reported support up to 4K/165Hz. It supports Dolby Vision, which may make it the more suitable option for an Xbox owner who specifically wants Dolby Vision gaming. RTINGS reports more reflections than on the S95H. The 77- and 83-inch versions use the C6H name, so verify the size-specific model code rather than assuming every C6 listing is identical.

LG B5 OLED: lower-cost OLED for controlled lighting

The B5 offers four HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K/120Hz and VRR support, making it a plausible way to get OLED and core high-refresh console features at a lower tier. RTINGS describes its picture and brightness as below the higher-tier alternatives and says its reflection handling suits dimmer rooms better. Compare current local prices and stock; no price winner is established here.

Roku Pro Series 2025: budget 120Hz option

RTINGS’ 120Hz roundup describes the Roku Pro Series 2025 as a budget choice with two high-bandwidth inputs, VRR, and 120Hz support. It does not go above 120Hz, and its picture is less bright and colorful than that of more expensive options. This recommendation comes from a general 120Hz TV roundup, so check that the exact regional model meets your console needs before treating it as a direct alternative to the named PS5 and Xbox picks.

What matters for PS5 and Xbox Series X gaming?

Confirm 4K at 120Hz on the actual HDMI input

Look for a native 120Hz-or-higher panel, then confirm that the exact TV model accepts a 4K/120Hz signal through the HDMI port you plan to use. A “120Hz” label or HDMI 2.1 branding by itself does not prove that every feature works on every input. Sony’s model-specific HDMI 2.1 feature support reference illustrates why checking the precise model matters. Also confirm the console’s selected output and the game’s available mode.

Understand the 120-fps ceiling

PS5 and Xbox Series X can output up to 120 fps, but that is a console capability ceiling, not a promise that every game runs at that rate. A game’s actual frame rate depends on its performance and graphics modes. A TV rated above 120Hz can still be useful with a PC, but it does not raise the consoles’ cited maximum output.

  • TCL AIPQ Pro Processor: Powerful, advanced processor that intelligently optimizes the color, contrast, and clarity for an unrivaled 4K HDR experience
  • Dolby Atmos Audio: Advanced spatial audio processing can be found in movies, TV shows, and video games

Look for VRR and responsive motion

Variable refresh rate (VRR) lets the display adjust refresh to the game’s frame rate, which can reduce screen tearing. Input lag affects how quickly controls appear on screen, while motion clarity affects how legible movement looks. Treat these as distinct considerations when comparing TVs; the model recommendations above report VRR support, but feature implementation and performance can depend on the exact model and settings.

Match brightness and reflection handling to the room

A bright screen and effective reflection handling can matter more in a sunlit room than in a dark gaming space. The S95H’s matte coating is an advantage for glare, although ambient light can affect how its QD-OLED blacks look. The C6 is more reflective by comparison, and RTINGS characterizes the B5 as better suited to dimmer rooms. Consider where the TV will sit and what lights or windows face it.

Count the HDMI ports you need

If you connect a console, another console, a PC, or other high-bandwidth devices, count the inputs that support the required signal—not just the total number of HDMI sockets. The S95H and C6 are reported to have four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting up to 4K/165Hz; the B5 has four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K/120Hz, while the Roku Pro Series 2025 is described as having two high-bandwidth inputs. Confirm regional SKU details and the specifications for each port.

Check Dolby Vision gaming if you play on Xbox

Dolby Vision gaming is a deciding point between the two premium picks in the recommendations: the LG C6 supports it, while the reviewed Samsung S95H does not. If that feature is not important to your setup, compare the TVs on room fit, picture preferences, and current local price instead.

How to verify a TV before you buy

  1. Find the complete model code. Match the exact size and country-specific SKU in the retailer listing to the manufacturer’s specifications; similar names can cover different versions.
  2. Check the port-level signal support. Confirm the intended HDMI input supports 4K at 120Hz, and identify which inputs support the high-bandwidth features you need.
  3. Check console-specific features. Verify VRR and, for Xbox if desired, Dolby Vision gaming. For Sony TVs, consult Sony’s model compatibility reference.
  4. Compare the room and connection needs. Consider glare, brightness, the number of devices that need high-bandwidth inputs, and whether a 120Hz ceiling is sufficient.
  5. Check local price and stock. Prices, availability, and model naming change; compare current listings for the same size and full model code.

How these recommendations were assessed

The cited recommendations are from RTINGS, which says its Xbox guide is based on 551 TVs bought and tested as of its 2026 guide. That is RTINGS’ stated testing scale, not an industry-wide count. Its guides describe buying and testing dozens of TVs each year and using hundreds of tests that can take more than a week, including measurements with a colorimeter and spectroradiometer. These are the publisher’s methods and evaluations, not independent hands-on testing for this article.
