For 4K/2160p at 60 fps on YouTube Live, use 35 Mbps video bitrate with AV1 or H.265/HEVC, or 50 Mbps with H.264, if your encoder supports that codec and your connection can sustain the bitrate. Set rate control to CBR, use a two-second keyframe interval, and stream by RTMPS. Whether JioFiber can carry that reliably depends on the upload speed and consistency at your address—not just the plan name. Test from the computer and connection you will use before going live.

Recommended YouTube settings for 4K60

YouTube Help’s encoder settings, accessed in 2026, give different bitrate recommendations by codec. The figures below are for video bitrate, not total upload traffic.

Codec YouTube minimum for 2160p at 60 fps YouTube recommended bitrate Use when
AV1 10 Mbps 35 Mbps Your encoder supports AV1 and the stream is SDR; YouTube says AV1 is not supported for HDR.
H.265/HEVC 10 Mbps 35 Mbps Your encoder supports HEVC. For HDR, YouTube recommends H.265 over RTMP(S).
H.264 14 Mbps 50 Mbps Use when H.264 is the compatible option for your encoder and setup.

Treat the minimums as floors, not reliability targets. If your connection cannot hold the recommended bitrate, lower the bitrate and/or output resolution or frame rate and test again. YouTube’s settings do not establish a JioFiber-specific fallback bitrate.

Core encoder profile

  • Resolution: 3840 × 2160 (2160p/4K), provided the source, encoder, and measured upload can sustain it.
  • Frame rate: 60 fps, provided the source and encoder can produce it consistently.
  • Rate control: CBR.
  • Keyframes: every 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds.
  • Protocol: RTMPS is YouTube’s recommended standard encoder protocol. It encrypts data to and through Google’s servers. YouTube also lists RTMP(S) for standard encoder streaming.
  • Latency: YouTube’s “improve for low latency” option is unavailable at 4K/2160p, so 4K streams use normal latency.

Encoder menus vary by software and hardware. Select the codec only if it is actually available in your encoder and compatible with the rest of your pipeline; the bitrate recommendation does not make an unsupported codec usable.

Is JioFiber fast enough for 4K60?

There is no single answer for every JioFiber subscriber. A Jio official plan-comparison result accessed in 2026 surfaced one example with 30 Mbps upload and 30 Mbps download. That example is below YouTube’s recommended 35 Mbps for AV1/HEVC and 50 Mbps for H.264, and even below the 14 Mbps H.264 minimum? No: it is above that minimum, but a minimum is not a reliable target. The result is not a complete or address-specific plan listing, and it does not show your sustained upload performance or congestion at stream time. Check the current plan and service details for your address at Jio’s Fiber plan comparison.

Compare repeatable upload tests at the streaming location with your chosen video bitrate. Leave practical room for variation and other household traffic; YouTube and Jio do not specify a universal headroom percentage for this setup. If the measured connection fluctuates near or below the target, reduce bitrate, resolution, or frame rate and test the revised profile. YouTube Help explicitly says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.”

Test the connection you will actually use

  1. Connect the streaming computer to the same JioFiber router and network arrangement planned for the broadcast.
  2. Run an upload speed test, preferably more than once and near the time you expect to stream. Look for consistency, not just the highest result.
  3. Run a private or unlisted preflight stream with representative gameplay movement, audio, and scene changes. YouTube says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
  4. Check YouTube’s stream health and encoder messages while the test is running. If the bitrate drops, frames are lost, or the connection becomes unstable, adjust settings and repeat the test.

A wired Ethernet connection is worth considering if the computer currently relies on Wi-Fi and you are troubleshooting consistency. It can avoid dependence on the wireless link, but cannot raise the upload capacity provided by the ISP. Check the computer and router port types and the required cable length before buying a cable. Jio describes its home broadband service at What is JioFiber?

Configure the YouTube stream and encoder

  1. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and use the stream key and server details YouTube provides for the event. Treat the stream key as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
  2. In your encoder, select the matching output profile: 3840 × 2160, 60 fps, CBR, and the two-second keyframe interval. Choose AV1 or HEVC at 35 Mbps, or H.264 at 50 Mbps, only if your encoder supports it and your upload test supports the bitrate.
  3. Choose RTMPS where your encoder offers it for YouTube’s standard encoder ingest. Verify that the server address and stream key match the stream configured in YouTube Studio.
  4. Start a preflight stream and inspect YouTube’s stream health and encoder messages before the actual broadcast. Include motion and audio similar to the real content.
  5. Go live only after the test is stable. Continue monitoring health and messages during the broadcast; if the connection cannot sustain the profile, lower the output and test again.

HDR versus SDR

For an SDR stream, choose among the codecs your encoder supports using the table above. HDR has an additional constraint: YouTube recommends H.265 over RTMP(S) for HDR and says AV1 is not supported for HDR. Do not select AV1 for an HDR stream based on its lower recommended bitrate. Check the encoder’s HDR output and YouTube’s current requirements before configuring an HDR workflow; the cited encoder guidance does not establish that every device or software combination can produce compatible HDR.

Troubleshooting a failed or unstable 4K60 stream

Symptom Likely issue to check What to try
Encoder reports dropped frames or YouTube stream health degrades The actual upload may not sustain the selected video bitrate, or may vary with congestion or other network use. Repeat the upload test at the streaming location; reduce bitrate, resolution, or frame rate; then run another representative preflight.
The available bitrate recommendation seems incompatible with the connection Codec changes the recommended 4K60 bitrate: YouTube lists 35 Mbps for AV1/HEVC and 50 Mbps for H.264. Confirm the selected codec is supported end-to-end. If the recommended rate is not sustainable, lower output settings rather than treating the minimum as a reliability guarantee.
Connection is inconsistent on Wi-Fi The wireless link may be contributing variability; this does not prove the ISP plan is the limiting factor. Test a wired Ethernet connection if practical, and compare repeated results. A cable cannot increase the plan’s provisioned upload speed.
You want low latency at 4K YouTube does not offer its “improve for low latency” option for 2160p. Expect normal latency at 4K, or consider a lower resolution if a low-latency option matters more than 4K output.
HDR stream fails or looks wrong Codec and HDR support may not match YouTube’s ingest guidance or the encoder’s capabilities. For HDR over RTMP(S), follow YouTube’s H.265 recommendation; do not use AV1 for HDR. Verify the encoder’s HDR settings and test before the event.
YouTube is not receiving the encoder stream The server address or stream key may be incorrect, or the key may belong to a different configured stream. Compare the encoder destination and key against the current stream in YouTube Studio; regenerate or replace the key if exposure is suspected.
