To give Streamlabs Mobile the best chance of staying live during a long YouTube broadcast, keep Android from restricting the app, allow the data it needs, choose a stream output your phone and upload connection can sustain, and prepare the phone to avoid interruptions. No battery setting can guarantee an uninterrupted stream: app crashes, heat, network changes, and YouTube-side interruptions can still stop it. Menu names vary by Android version and phone model, so test your actual setup before relying on it for a long or important broadcast.
Before changing Android settings, make sure YouTube is ready
Confirm that your channel can livestream before planning a long session. Streamlabs says first-time YouTube livestreaming requires phone verification and a setup period; account eligibility and onboarding can change, so check the current YouTube and Streamlabs screens. Keep Android from restricting Streamlabs in the background
Check the app’s battery mode
On Android versions that offer per-app battery controls, look for Streamlabs in the phone’s app battery settings. Android describes Optimized as the default and Unrestricted as allowing background work, potentially with greater battery use. For a planned long broadcast, make sure Streamlabs is not set to a restricted mode; if available, consider Unrestricted. The exact path and available choices depend on the device and Android version. This setting permits more background activity, but does not prevent crashes, operating-system intervention, heat-related limits, or loss of network. On Samsung Galaxy, check sleeping-app lists
Samsung Galaxy phones may put apps into Sleeping or Deep sleeping lists. Check that Streamlabs is not on either list for a long session; where the option exists, you can add it to Never sleeping apps instead. Samsung notes that menu paths and labels vary across models and One UI versions, and allowing an app to remain active can increase background battery use. See Samsung’s guide to sleeping apps.

Make sure data restrictions do not block the stream
If Data Saver or an app-level data restriction is enabled, review whether Streamlabs is allowed to use the connection it needs. Android’s available controls differ by device and version; Google documents unrestricted data access for apps when Data Saver is on. This is a setting to check if a connection fails or drops, not evidence that a particular setting guarantees Streamlabs will broadcast successfully. See Google’s background data guidance.
Choose output settings your phone and connection can maintain
In Streamlabs Mobile’s Android Streaming Settings, review the output resolution, expected frame rate, and maximum bitrate. These determine the demands placed on the phone and the upload connection. The official guide documents those controls but does not establish a universal best preset for every handset or network. If the device heats up, struggles to encode, or the connection is unstable, start with a more conservative output and validate it on your own setup before an important broadcast. Do not treat a higher resolution or bitrate as automatically better for a continuous session. The useful choice is the best output your particular phone and available upload connection can sustain consistently.
Prepare the phone and reduce interruptions
- Start with the phone fully charged and keep a charger nearby. Streamlabs recommends avoiding charging while streaming if possible because it can strain the phone battery; how that applies depends on the device and conditions.
- Close open apps before going live to reduce competing activity.
- Enable Do Not Disturb or a similar mode to silence interruptions.
- For camera-based streams, use a stable mount if needed. Streamlabs also lists a power bank and wireless microphone as optional accessories; none guarantees a particular runtime or fixes background restrictions.
These are preparation steps, not a promise that the phone can run indefinitely. Test a representative session on the same phone, network, and output settings you plan to use.

Consider connection features without treating them as guarantees
Streamlabs describes Network Boost as using multiple connections, such as Wi-Fi and cellular, to support stream reliability. Check whether the feature is available in your app and circumstances. It does not guarantee uninterrupted service. Streamlabs’ description is at How to Use Network Boost.
Validate before a long broadcast
- Confirm YouTube livestream access and connect the channel in Streamlabs.
- Check battery treatment, any manufacturer sleeping-app lists, and data restrictions.
- Set resolution, frame rate, and maximum bitrate to a level your phone and upload connection can sustain.
- Charge the phone, close other apps, silence notifications, and set up the stream in the conditions you expect to use.
- Run a short test broadcast. Check that video and audio are acceptable and that the stream remains connected with the screen and app behavior you expect. A test cannot prove that a later session will never fail, but it can expose setup problems before they matter.
Common problems and what to check
The stream stops when Streamlabs is in the background
Check the app’s battery mode and, on a Galaxy phone, whether Streamlabs is listed as Sleeping or Deep sleeping. Android and manufacturer controls vary, and removing restrictions can use more battery without eliminating every cause of interruption.

The connection drops or the stream will not start
Review Data Saver and app-level data access, then check that the phone has a usable upload connection. If Network Boost is available, you can review its multiple-connection option; it is not a reliability guarantee.
The phone struggles during the broadcast
Lower the output demands by selecting a more conservative resolution, frame rate, or maximum bitrate, then test again. The right values depend on the handset and network; the cited Streamlabs guide does not give one preset that is best for all devices.

Turn on Do Not Disturb or a similar mode and close open apps before starting, following Streamlabs’ preparation guidance.
