Balatro HQ describes seed codes as fixing much of a run’s random content—including shops and rerolls, packs, skip tags, vouchers, Boss Blinds, and Soul spawns—when played on the same game version. Why a promising seed does not guarantee a big score
A Legendary Joker appearing is only one part of a run. You still need to be able to afford it, make the other Jokers and cards work together, and handle the route ahead. Build a scoring engine, not just a collection
Jokers can change final multipliers, card behavior, or cash, so a drop’s value depends on how it fits the rest of your build. The official Balatro FAQ describes these Joker effects, while the Steam edition description emphasizes combining poker hands and Jokers into synergies. A strong seed opportunity is a starting point for assembling that engine, not a score in itself.
Account for the blind path and your economy
Each Ante has a Small Blind, Big Blind, and Boss Blind; Ante 8’s final round is a special Boss Blind, according to the official FAQ. A Joker that looks ideal may be out of reach financially, or your build may not be suited to an upcoming Boss. Check the shop and route as you play rather than assuming a listed seed feature makes every decision obvious.

How to enter a seed in Balatro
- Choose New Run.
- Enable the Seeded Run checkbox beside Play.
- Enter the seed code, such as ALEEB, and start the run.
Balatro HQ says Challenge runs cannot be seeded. Its guide describes seed codes as up to eight uppercase letters and numbers. Check lookalike characters carefully: the guide notes that a typed 0 is replaced with O. For the exact controls on your platform or game version, consult the game’s current interface.
How to choose between seed options
Compare a seed on practical run factors rather than the fame of an individual Joker. The following are useful evaluation axes, not a tested or official ranking formula:

- Affordability and economy: Can you pay for promising shop items and still manage the run’s needs?
- Synergy: Do the available Jokers support each other and the hands or cards you can build around?
- Boss path: Does your developing setup have a plausible way through the upcoming Boss Blinds?
Balatro HQ describes three separate tools for different jobs: the Seed Analyzer reads run contents, Shop Replay steps through shop outcomes as you buy and reroll, and Seed Advisor suggests a build and phase plan. Use the analyzer to inspect what a seed reportedly contains and the advisor for strategy ideas; neither turns a promising code into a guaranteed score.
Do seeded runs count for achievements or unlocks?
No. Balatro HQ’s seed guide says seeded runs do not earn achievements or unlocks. Use them to practice a route, explore shop outcomes, or share a repeatable starting point rather than for normal progression.

Can you find the seed of your current run?
Balatro HQ’s guide frames seed codes as a way to reproduce and share runs, but the reviewed material does not establish the exact current in-game UI path for revealing an active run’s code across platforms and versions. Check the game’s own run or pause screens for your version rather than relying on an unverified menu path.
