Elgato’s listed Wave Mic Arm LP measurements are manufacturer specifications on its product page, accessed in 2026; they are not independent test results. The available product information does not establish a like-for-like test of noise, joint smoothness, long-term sag, durability or value, so there is no evidence-backed universal winner.
Measure clearance and reach before choosing
For the LP, Elgato’s roughly 160 mm / 6.3-inch figure is the arm’s height above the desk at its highest point, not a guarantee that it will clear your monitor in every position. Measure the space from desk surface to monitor and consider the full route the arm and microphone will travel as you reposition them. Check whether the arm, mic or cable would enter your screen area or camera frame.
If you need the microphone to reach around a monitor or move between speaking and storage positions, compare the standard Wave Mic Arm’s reach and adjustment with the actual distances on your desk. Elgato describes those features and its integrated cable channels, but the available information does not provide a reach measurement for a direct numeric comparison.

Check the complete mounted load and microphone thread
Count the microphone plus its shock mount, adapter and any other hardware attached to the arm. The Wave Mic Arm LP’s stated maximum is 2 kg / 4.4 lb for the mounted setup; do not treat the microphone’s weight alone as the total. For the other two arms, verify the current model’s load range with its manufacturer rather than assuming it from a similar product.
Then identify the microphone’s mounting thread and compare it with the arm’s supplied thread or adapters. Elgato lists a 1/4-inch thread and 3/8-inch and 5/8-inch adapters for the LP, along with example microphones. Compatibility lists are a starting point: confirm the exact microphone revision and whether your shock mount or other attachment changes the connection.

Pairing matters even when an arm and microphone are individually suitable. Elgato’s Wave:3 mounting guidance says a RØDE PSA1 may need additional weight to hold the desired height in that particular setup. That is a compatibility-specific caution, not a finding about the PSA1+ or every microphone.
Make sure the desk mount works for your desk
Measure the desk edge and thickness, and check whether its shape leaves enough flat space for a clamp. A desk lip, reinforcement rail, cable tray or unusually thick top can prevent a clamp from seating properly. The PSA1+ includes both a padded desk clamp and a threaded desk mount; the latter requires a suitable threaded mounting point, so consider whether you can and want to use one. Confirm the mounting dimensions and method for the exact arm you choose.

Buying checklist
- Measure desk-to-monitor clearance and trace the arm’s full movement, not just its highest listed point.
- Weigh the microphone together with its shock mount, adapters and attached accessories.
- Identify the microphone’s mounting thread and confirm the exact adapters included.
- Check desk thickness, edge shape, clamp space and whether a threaded mount is acceptable.
- Decide whether you need a low-profile arm path or a raised arm with more reach.
- Confirm that the repositioned microphone and cable stay clear of your monitor and camera view.
- Verify compatibility against current documentation for the exact mic, mount, arm and product revision.
