The return period starts when you receive the item. The policy does not list ordinary gaming PCs, monitors, or components as exceptions to the standard window, but seller, item-specific terms, condition, and membership can affect eligibility.
How long do you have to return a gaming PC, monitor, or component?
Best Buy’s policy, effective February 23, 2026, allows 15 days for most products and 60 days for eligible My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members. The clock begins when the item is received, not when it is ordered. Best Buy does not list ordinary gaming PCs, monitors, or computer components as a separate return-window category. Check Best Buy’s current Return & Exchange Policy and the terms attached to your order.
The policy’s 14-day window is for activatable devices, such as cellular phones and devices; it is not the ordinary classification for a gaming PC or monitor.

Best Buy versus Marketplace Seller
Marketplace Products generally follow the standard policy unless otherwise stated, but the 60-day Plus and Total membership extension does not apply to Marketplace purchases. Check the seller shown in your order details. Marketplace returns may be handled in-store for many products or shipped to the Marketplace Seller through the return flow in your Best Buy account; size and product limits apply to in-store returns.

Special orders and restricted items
Best Buy’s current policy does not name ordinary gaming PCs, monitors, or components as restocking-fee categories. It does list a 15% restocking fee for certain categories, including special-order products and projectors. Unopened products and purchases in listed states—Alabama, Colorado, Hawaii, Iowa, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, and South Carolina—are among the stated fee exceptions; other legal exceptions may apply. Tax treatment varies.
Some items are nonreturnable, including products marked final sale and certain other listed categories. The policy also restricts returns of fully regulated hazardous materials through Best Buy channels, and rechargeable-battery products must include the original battery to qualify. If your PC or component is a special order, includes a high-capacity battery, or has an item-specific restriction, check its order details and the current policy rather than assuming the general rule applies.

What condition and contents are required?
Best Buy requires returned products to be in like-new condition. It may deny a return if the item is damaged, scratched, dented, unsanitary, or missing major contents. Return the PC, monitor, or component with its accessories and packaging. Missing items can lead to denial or a nonrefundable deduction.
How to return it
- Check the order. In your Best Buy account, confirm the seller, receipt date, item-specific terms, and whether your Plus or Total membership applies. Marketplace purchases do not get the membership extension.
- Choose a return route. Most online items shipped from and sold by Best Buy can be returned to a Best Buy store. Eligible mailed returns use a prepaid return label. Marketplace orders may be returned in-store when permitted or shipped to the seller through your account.
- Include the complete item. Pack the product with its accessories, original battery if applicable, and packaging, and make sure it meets the like-new condition requirement.
- For a defect or damage, use the seller’s process. During the return period, contact Best Buy about a Best Buy-sold item for a replacement or mail-return instructions. For a Marketplace item, report the problem to the seller through your Best Buy account.
Refund timing and payment
For mailed Best Buy returns, the policy says processing takes 7–10 business days after Best Buy receives the item. Your bank may take up to 10 additional days after processing to show the credit. Refunds generally go to the original payment method. Listed exceptions include certain large cash or check/debit payments refunded by check, and Best Buy Gift Card funds returned as a new gift card or e-gift card.

Are there holiday extensions in 2026?
Best Buy’s published holiday FAQ describes an extension for purchases made October 31 through December 31, 2025, with returns accepted through January 15, 2026, subject to exclusions. That window has expired. The FAQ does not establish a 2026 holiday return window, so check Best Buy’s current policy for any newly announced seasonal terms: Best Buy Holiday Frequently Asked Questions.
