The best Chrome extension for a live streamer depends on the job: BetterTTV or FrankerFaceZ for Twitch chat customization, Enhancer for Twitch and Kick utilities, Live Chat Overlay for putting YouTube chat on a broadcast scene, and Previews for browsing streams across platforms. These tools serve different workflows, so there is no evidence-based “best overall” performance winner here. Extensions for emotes and chat customization
BetterTTV: Twitch and YouTube enhancements
The Chrome Web Store describes BetterTTV as adding global and per-channel custom emotes, an improved emote menu, keyword tools, split chat lines, visibility for deleted messages and links, anonymous chat, automatic claims for channel points, drops and moments, and options to hide interface clutter. YouTube support needs an additional permission, and the listing warns that not all settings work with YouTube. Check permissions and the current listing before installing. The listing identifies version 7.7.25 and an update date of July 16, 2026; store details can change.
FrankerFaceZ: a Twitch-focused suite
FrankerFaceZ’s Chrome Web Store listing describes custom channel emotes, layout and chat customization, and advanced chat moderation tools for Twitch. The listing identifies version 4.82.0.31 and an update date of September 5, 2026. Its stated platform support is Twitch, so do not assume its controls extend to YouTube or Kick.

The Chrome Web Store describes Enhancer as a free, open-source extension for Twitch and Kick. Listed features include chat attachments and enhanced mentions on both platforms. Twitch-specific functions include stream latency and VOD timing, chatter information, streamer pins, channel shortcuts, and clip-download controls. The developer discloses that it will not collect or use data; that is the developer’s disclosure, not an independent privacy audit. The listing identifies version 5.3.0 and an update date of September 24, 2026.

Put YouTube live chat on a broadcast scene
Live Chat Overlay
The Chrome Web Store describes Live Chat Overlay as a way to display YouTube live chat in a browser source in OBS or other software. It also lists display customization, highlighted words and automatic message hiding. Alternatively, the overlay can be full-screened and keyed through compatible video systems. This addresses the appearance of chat in a scene; it is not itself a general-purpose broadcasting or moderation service.

When a browser extension is not enough
A browser enhancement is different from a service that automates moderation, adds production overlays, handles donations or clips highlights. YouTube Help lists Nightbot for chatbot and live-chat moderation automation; StreamElements as an all-in-one toolkit with overlays, chatbot, tipping and post-stream reports; Streamlabs for on-stream notifications and donations; and YuzzitPro for clipping livestream highlights. YouTube says: “None of the products listed below are made by or endorsed by Google LLC.” Treat these as separate services to evaluate for your needs, not as Chrome extensions or Google-endorsed products.

Check compatibility, permissions and listing details
- Confirm that the extension names the platform you use. Support for Twitch does not imply support for YouTube or Kick.
- Review requested browser permissions and whether a feature needs a separate permission. BetterTTV specifically notes an additional permission for YouTube.
- Distinguish a developer’s privacy disclosure from an independent security or privacy audit.
- Check the live Chrome Web Store listing for current version, update date, compatibility and feature descriptions. Listings and their details can change.
- Do not treat ratings, user counts or feature lists as proof that one extension performs better. There is no standardized cross-extension performance comparison established here.
