1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe best cloud-based video recording software depends on what you are recording: Riverside or StreamYard for remote guest conversations, StreamYard for a branded live show, Zoom for meeting capture, and Loom for solo screen tutorials. Those tools solve different problems, so compare how each captures participant tracks, handles uploads and backups, and supports editing or sharing—not just whether it records in the cloud.
Choose by recording workflow
| Recording job | Tools to consider | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Remote guest interview or video podcast | Riverside, StreamYard | Separate participant tracks, local capture and cloud upload, guest access, editing, clips, and publishing. |
| Branded live show | StreamYard | Streaming destinations, studio controls, cloud recording, and the current plan’s participant and resolution limits. |
| Meeting recording | Zoom | Recording layouts, audio/video/chat capture, and storage controls. |
| Solo screen tutorial or walkthrough | Loom | Screen and camera capture, transcription, editing, sharing, and tier limits. |
These are workflow matches based on features described by the vendors, not a measured head-to-head test. Their product pages do not establish comparative reliability, recording quality across network conditions, ease of use, or user satisfaction.
Remote guest interviews and video podcasts
Riverside: local participant recording with an editing path
Riverside describes recording each participant locally while uploading to the cloud. Its product overview also describes a text-based editor, clips, and streaming. The pricing page lists separate audio/video tracks, single-track recording and editing, publishing destinations, hosting, and automatic cloud backups; which features are available depends on the plan. Check the live Riverside pricing page before choosing a tier, and see its product overview for the described recording and editing workflow.
StreamYard: browser-based guest access plus local files and a cloud recording
StreamYard says guests do not need to download an app. Participants record separate audio and video files on their own devices, which upload in the background, while a cloud recording is also created. This combination is worth considering when you want separated files as well as a recording in the studio workflow. See StreamYard’s recording information and verify the current features and limits on its pricing page.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How to decide between them
- Prioritize the separate files and post-production features you actually need; a cloud recording alone does not tell you whether a tool’s editing or publishing workflow fits.
- Check how guests join and what they need to do during recording. StreamYard describes browser-based guest access without a download.
- Read current plan details for track access, backups, editing, hosting, and publishing. Vendor entitlements can change, and a feature listed for one tier may not be included in another.
Branded live shows: StreamYard
For a creator producing a branded live show, the production studio and streaming workflow matter alongside recording. StreamYard’s plan page lists cloud recording and multistreaming; its displayed Advanced plan lists 4K local recordings and multistreaming to eight destinations. Those details apply to the plan display, not necessarily every tier or future offer. Check the current StreamYard plan page for applicable participant and resolution limits, destinations, and terms. StreamYard says pricing may vary with promotions, seasonal deals, renewal terms, and custom offers, so confirm the price and entitlements shown for your own account before buying.
Meeting capture: Zoom cloud recording
Zoom’s cloud recording is a fit when the source is a meeting and you need the meeting’s recording controls rather than a creator studio. Zoom Support says cloud recordings can include meeting video, audio, and chat text. Available layouts include active speaker, gallery view, and shared screen, and storage options are configurable. Supported desktop clients and minimum versions are also specified; verify the current prerequisites for the account and device you will use in Zoom’s cloud recording support article.

Solo screen tutorials: Loom
Loom is a distinct option for screen-led walkthroughs and solo instructional videos, rather than a direct substitute for a multi-guest recording studio. Its pricing page describes screen recording, video-to-text automation, Zoom import, and a video communication workflow. Compare the current tier against your screen and camera capture, transcription, editing, and sharing needs. Loom notes that feature access can differ for subscriptions through Atlassian.com versus Loom, so check the signup route as well as the plan on Loom’s pricing page.
Check these details before committing
- Capture and backup are different questions. A participant’s local file, an ongoing cloud upload, and a cloud recording are distinct parts of a workflow. Confirm which files you can access and what the product says happens if an upload or connection is interrupted; vendor feature descriptions are not a guarantee of results under every network condition.
- Confirm plan entitlements. Separate tracks, editing, clips, hosting, publishing, resolution, participant limits, storage, and destinations may vary by tier.
- Check the current price and terms. Pricing and promotions change. Review the vendor’s live page and the terms shown for your signup route rather than relying on an old quoted figure.
- Check prerequisites before a scheduled recording. For Zoom cloud recording, confirm the client and account requirements in Zoom Support. For guest sessions, test the joining flow and recording setup with the participants before the real interview.
