Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →For a YouTube-only 24/7 channel, start with a cloud encoder that sends one feed to YouTube—not a full cloud video-distribution stack. A cloud VM running encoder software is the flexible do-it-yourself option; Google Cloud’s Live Stream API is a managed encoding option with active-time charges and a documented 24-hour session restart condition. AWS’s documented live-streaming stack is designed to encode, package, and distribute video to viewers, which is a different job from feeding YouTube. For a simpler YouTube loop without managing a VM, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud, with one flat price per slot for any quality up to 4K 60fps and a free first day.
Which kind of cloud service does a 24/7 YouTube channel need?
Separate two jobs that are easy to confuse:
- YouTube ingest: an encoder continuously sends a live feed to YouTube. YouTube then serves the video to viewers. A cloud VM or a managed encoding service may do the encoding.
- Viewer-facing distribution: a cloud stack encodes, packages, and delivers video directly to viewers, often using a CDN. This is relevant if you are building a separate streaming service or distributing to destinations beyond YouTube—not automatically necessary for a YouTube channel.
The best fit depends on whether you are looping prerecorded video or encoding a live camera, how much control you need, and how much infrastructure you are prepared to operate. There is no established apples-to-apples monthly price for a single India-region VM encoder in the available provider material, so a categorical “cheapest cloud” claim would be misleading.
Best options for keeping a YouTube stream running
| Rank and option | What it does | Best fit | Key trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | Loops uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud to YouTube. | Creators who want a prerecorded stream without keeping a computer or encoder running at home. | It is for uploaded-video streams to YouTube, not camera-based live broadcasting. One flat price per slot covers any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps; the first day is free without a card. |
| 2. Cloud VM plus encoder software | Runs your source and encoder on a virtual machine, which sends the stream to YouTube Live. | Operators who need encoder control, a custom workflow, or a live camera pipeline hosted remotely. | You manage sizing, source storage, restart supervision, stream-key security, and cost checks. A comparable India VM price is not established here. |
| 3. Google Cloud Live Stream API | Managed live processing and output according to supported channel configuration. | Teams that prefer a managed media API and its supported input/output workflow. | Charges accrue while a channel is active, and Google documents that a session may be restarted after 24 hours. Confirm destination support, region, codec, and quotas for your workflow. |
| 4. AWS live-streaming stack | Uses services such as MediaLive, MediaPackage or MediaStore, and CloudFront to encode, package, and distribute live video. | Operators building a viewer-facing delivery service or a multi-destination streaming architecture. | It is more infrastructure than a simple encoder feed into YouTube; distribution traffic and architecture add cost and operational complexity. |
These options are not interchangeable products. Compare the destination, encoding responsibility, session behavior, India-region availability, and whether you must pay for viewer delivery. The official material does not establish one provider as the best value for every Indian creator.
Option 1: Run your own encoder on a cloud VM
A VM is the most adaptable do-it-yourself pattern: the machine runs your encoder and sends its output to YouTube’s ingest endpoint. A prerecorded loop needs a source file and a process configured to repeat it; a live camera workflow needs a live input source, which may require different software and infrastructure. Neither workload should be priced or sized as though it were automatically the other.

Plan the workload before choosing a machine
- Source and storage: establish where your recording or playlist files live and whether the VM needs local disk space or access to separate storage.
- Encoding: identify the input codec, output resolution and frame rate, and whether the chosen VM can sustain the encoding load. The official sources here do not provide an India VM size or price comparison.
- Network: make sure the VM can sustain the selected output bitrate to YouTube. Consider the provider’s network and egress billing for your exact setup; do not assume viewer-delivery charges apply to a feed YouTube itself distributes.
- Recovery: decide how you will detect an encoder failure, restart the process or VM, re-establish the YouTube stream, and alert an operator if it does not recover.
- Security: treat the YouTube stream key as a credential. Store it in secure encoder configuration and do not put it in public scripts, screenshots, logs, or shared documents.
Connect the encoder to YouTube
- Check channel eligibility first. YouTube’s current live-streaming help says the channel must be verified, have no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16. First-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Create a stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Follow YouTube’s encoder workflow to create the stream and obtain its server URL and stream key. Keep the key private. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Set encoder output to match the planned stream. Use RTMPS where supported, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. Use the bitrate for your actual codec, resolution, and frame rate rather than a single universal number.
- Enter the server URL and stream key in the encoder running on the VM. Start the encoder and confirm that the Live Control Room receives the feed.
- Test before relying on the stream. YouTube recommends testing representative motion and audio, choosing a quality your connection can sustain, and watching stream health during operation.
- Monitor the long run. Configure a way to notice a stopped process or unhealthy feed, attempt recovery, and notify someone if recovery fails. A restart policy is not a guarantee of uninterrupted output.
YouTube ingest settings: resolution, bitrate, and keyframes
YouTube’s guidance recommends RTMPS, CBR, up to 60 fps, and a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). The following are representative H.264 recommended ingest bitrates in YouTube’s guidance; they are not universal values for other codecs or frame rates.
| Output | H.264 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 or 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps |
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance for other combinations. A speed test and a representative test stream help reveal whether the chosen output is sustainable before you leave it running.

| Configured tier | Input per hour | Output per hour |
|---|---|---|
| SD | $0.07 | $0.22 |
| HD | $0.14 | $0.45 |
| UHD | $0.85 | $1.50 |
These are USD rates shown on Google’s pricing page, not an all-in monthly quote. Actual charges depend on active time, number of inputs and outputs, codec tier, region, and endpoints; verify current pricing and applicable currency before deployment. A Mumbai region listing does not by itself establish that every needed feature is available there.
For an around-the-clock output, account for Google’s documented session condition: an active Live Stream API session may be restarted after 24 hours. The workflow therefore needs a restart and recovery plan rather than assuming one session lasts indefinitely. See Google Cloud Live Stream API pricing and its quotas and limits.

Option 3: AWS live distribution is a different architecture
AWS documents a 24×7 live-channel architecture using MediaLive with MediaPackage or MediaStore and CloudFront. That stack encodes and packages a live output, then distributes it to viewers. It can make sense for an operator building a separate streaming service or delivery system, but it is not a like-for-like alternative to a VM that sends one encoder feed to YouTube.
AWS’s published scenario estimates about 1,000 viewers for a one-hour SD-540p event at approximately $69.74 total: $2.50 for encoding and packaging plus $67.24 for distribution of 791 GB. AWS identifies this as a US East (N. Virginia) scenario using standard pricing and stated assumptions. It is not an India quote for a small VM feeding YouTube. See AWS’s live-streaming deployment cost example and CloudFront’s video streaming architecture guidance.

What will a 24/7 cloud YouTube stream cost in India?
There is no supported single monthly estimate without specifying the architecture and workload. For a VM encoder, estimate the VM, source storage, any needed acceleration, network and egress treatment, and monitoring or recovery components. For a managed API, count active hours, inputs, outputs, region, and codec/resolution tier. For viewer-facing distribution, include viewer traffic and CDN delivery. These cost models answer different questions, so an AWS delivery example should not be used as the cost of YouTube ingest.
For a YouTube loop that does not need a custom encoder workflow, StreamNeo offers a per-slot price with the same service on every term: one always-on stream, uploaded-video looping and playlists, up to 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and team support. The available billing terms are:
- Daily: $0.99 per day
- Weekly: $2.99 per week
- Monthly: $9.99 per month
- 6 months: $49.99 for 6 months
- Yearly: $89.99 a year
Visitors in India see the India price; others see the global price. India checkout supports UPI and cards; card checkout is available worldwide. Five or more slots can be discussed with support. See StreamNeo pricing for the current offer and terms.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded YouTube loop, StreamNeo is the simplest option to try first: upload your recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube and does not broadcast from a camera. Check upload time before transferring large files, then start your free day.
Troubleshooting a cloud-hosted YouTube stream
- You cannot start a live stream: check channel verification, the age requirement, recent live-stream restrictions, and whether first-time enablement has completed.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: confirm the Live Control Room stream is active and that the encoder has the matching server URL and current stream key. Keep the key private while correcting configuration.
- The stream is unstable or unhealthy: test the VM’s sustained outbound capacity against the selected bitrate; verify CBR and the codec-specific YouTube recommendation; test representative motion and audio; monitor stream health.
- The stream stops after a long managed session: if using Google Cloud Live Stream API, account for its documented possible restart after 24 hours and make sure the session can be restarted and checked.
- The bill is higher than expected: distinguish active encoding charges from storage and network costs, check the configured resolution and active time, and determine whether the design is paying for viewer delivery that a YouTube-only feed does not require.
Copyright and channel policy still apply to loops
Moving an encoder to the cloud does not change YouTube’s rules or your rights to the material. Before leaving prerecorded video in a continuous loop, confirm that you have the necessary rights to the video, music, and other included material, and review YouTube’s policies for your channel and content. A technically healthy stream is not evidence that the content is permitted or eligible for monetization.
