The best Marvel Rivals crosshair depends on how a hero attacks, not on the hero name attached to an online code. For a reliable starting point, use the small cyan dot for precision hitscan heroes, the small cross for conventional gunplay, a circle-and-cross for projectile-heavy fights, and the large circle for projectiles, area attacks, melee, and dive heroes.
This guide reflects the roster status reported for Season 9.5 as of August 8, 2026, including The Hood, who joined on August 7. These are community recommendations rather than official NetEase assignments.
How to import a crosshair code in Marvel Rivals
On PC, open Settings from the main menu or pause menu, then follow:
- Open Keyboard. For a controller on PC, open Controller instead.
- Select Combat.
- Scroll to HUD.
- Find Reticle Save.
- Select the Import Save icon beside the reticle-save field.
- Paste the complete code and select Confirm.
Some older guides call this control Import Reticle, but Import Save is the more consistently reported current label. See WeCoach’s import guide and TechRadar’s reticle guide for the menu path.

Apply a crosshair globally or to one hero
The HUD reticle screen has a hero selector in the upper-left. Choose All Heroes before importing or editing a global reticle. Choose an individual hero to apply the configuration only to that character.
A code is not technically locked to a hero. Labels such as “Hela code” or “Venom code” describe a recommended use, not a restriction in the game.

Small cross: the best general-purpose starting point
Use this compact cross for conventional gunplay and heroes that benefit from a familiar center reference. Recommended heroes include Cloak & Dagger, Gambit, Invisible Woman, Jeff, Loki, Mantis, Namor, Psylocke, Rocket Raccoon, and Spider-Man.

The dot minimizes visual obstruction and is a strong starting point for Angela, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Hela, as well as players who prefer a minimal reticle for precision shots.

Choose the small circle when a dot feels too easy to lose but a full cross feels distracting. It is recommended for Adam Warlock, Luna Snow, Mister Fantastic, Moon Knight, Scarlet Witch, Star-Lord, and The Punisher.

This combination gives you both a visible center and a larger aiming reference. Try it with Daredevil, Magik, Magneto, Peni Parker, Rogue, Squirrel Girl, Storm, and Winter Soldier.

The larger reference is useful when attacks cover a wider area, travel as projectiles, or are used at close range. Recommended heroes include Black Panther, Blade, Captain America, Deadpool, Doctor Strange, Emma Frost, Groot, Hulk, Human Torch, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Phoenix, The Thing, Thor, Ultron, Venom, and Wolverine.

Use this as a starting map, not a mandatory ranking. Your sensitivity, screen size, resolution, color vision, and preferred distance can make another reticle better.

The Hood is the exception for current coverage: he joined the roster on August 7, 2026, so older “all heroes” lists omit him. There is no verified official reticle recommendation specifically for The Hood in the available sources. Start with the small cross or small circle and adjust after seeing how his attacks appear on screen. The recommendation is practical, not an official setting. PC Gamer reported the Season 9.5 roster update.
Console players: codes cannot currently be pasted
The crosshair-code import function is currently reported as PC-only. On PS5 and Xbox, open the HUD reticle settings and reproduce the desired shape manually using the available controls. A pasted code is not supported by the current console implementation.
The relevant manual controls include reticle type, color, opacity, outline, thickness, length, gap, dot size, and related visibility settings. Because the console interface does not accept the serialized code, console players should use the shape recommendations above as a starting point and tune the sliders in the practice range. Do not assume that a PC code can be pasted into the console version.
Reticle saves and hero-specific settings
Marvel Rivals supports up to five saved reticle presets. Importing another code can use a save slot; when all five are occupied, delete or replace an existing preset. Copy any favorite code somewhere safe before overwriting it.

The five-slot limit does not mean only five heroes can have custom crosshairs. Save slots and hero-specific configurations are separate concepts: select a hero in the upper-left selector, then edit the reticle for that hero. The same saved preset can therefore support different hero-specific settings.
How to export a crosshair code
On PC, select the Export Save icon beside the reticle-save controls. Marvel Rivals copies the active reticle code to your clipboard, allowing you to back it up or share it.

Remove spaces and quotation marks
Copy only the code itself. Remove leading or trailing spaces and any quotation marks added by a webpage. A valid string should begin with its initial number and end with the final semicolon.
“Invalid character” appears
First recopy the code as plain text and check for formatting characters. NetEase addressed an earlier reticle-import issue that could incorrectly trigger an invalid character message in the April 17, 2025 patch notes. The error does not automatically mean the code is obsolete. Read the official patch notes.

The wrong heroes changed
Check the selector in the upper-left before importing. All Heroes applies the reticle globally; an individual hero applies it only to that character.
The game says there is no room to save
Check your five reticle saves. Delete or replace an unused preset, but export or copy any code you want to keep first.
Changes do not persist
NetEase changed reticle customization so changes automatically upload to server storage, addressing loss caused by local-storage problems. If settings still do not persist, confirm that the change was made in the intended hero profile and allow the game to complete its save process. See the February 21, 2025 official patch notes.
Which crosshair should you choose?
- Choose the small cyan dot when precision and an unobstructed target view matter most.
- Choose the small cross for the safest all-purpose option.
- Choose the small circle when you want a clear center without a large reticle.
- Choose the circle and cross when fights are visually busy and you need extra visibility.
- Choose the large circle for broad projectile attacks, melee, and close-range heroes.
There is no developer-designated best crosshair for every hero. The most useful choice is the reticle that remains visible without covering the target and matches the way your chosen hero attacks.
