What “free-to-play” means on Xbox
Free-to-play means the base game is listed for free; it does not mean every optional add-on or in-game item costs nothing. Check each game’s Xbox listing for its current content and purchase details. Xbox also promotes monthly and seasonal Game Pass in-game benefits for free-to-play games, but its catalog does not say Game Pass is required to access the free-to-play titles.
