Battlefield 6 was the top-selling full game in tracked U.S. dollar sales for 2025, and it also ranked first on the Xbox chart, according to GameSpot’s reporting of Circana’s full-year results. That is a ranking by dollars in one market. It is not a worldwide ranking or a unit count. It also does not tell you whether Battlefield 6 is in Game Pass, and it does not tell you which similar shooters are in the catalog today. This guide gives you the criteria for judging a Battlefield-style game and a method for building a shortlist you can verify on the day you subscribe.
What the 2025 ranking does and does not measure
The ranking comes from Circana’s tracking of U.S. full-game dollar sales for 2025, as reported secondhand by GameSpot. Circana’s underlying chart was not checked directly for this article, so treat the result as a reported rank rather than a sales figure. No unit total is quoted here, because none was verified from a primary source.

Xbox Wire’s 2025 Excellence Awards use a different yardstick. Its Units Sold category covers top-selling content across Xbox and Microsoft stores, and the awards list 55 titles across its categories, 16 of which were available through Game Pass when the list was published. That is a useful signal of what is popular on Xbox, but it is not Circana’s U.S. chart and should not be read as one.

What makes a Battlefield-style game
Four criteria separate a true alternative from a loosely similar shooter. Score each candidate against them rather than choosing by genre label alone.
Combat perspective and pace
Decide whether you want infantry-focused fighting, where movement, cover and close-range engagements drive the match, or vehicle-heavy play, where tanks, aircraft or helicopters change the pace and the objectives. Many shooters mix both, but the balance varies widely, so read the mode descriptions rather than the title alone.

Multiplayer mode and team scale
Battlefield-style games are built around large team sizes and objective-based modes. Look for the maximum players per match and whether the mode rotates objectives such as capturing points or controlling sectors. A small-team arena shooter will feel very different even if it shares the same setting.

Tier, platform and region
A game can be a perfect match and still be unavailable to you. Availability depends on your subscription tier, the platform you play on, and your account region. Verify these for each candidate before you commit time to it.
Building a current Game Pass shortlist
- Open the official Xbox Game Pass catalog and set the tier filter to the tier your account holds.
- Set the platform filter to the device you will actually play on, such as Xbox console or PC.
- Browse the shooter genre, then keep only titles that match at least two of the four criteria above.
- Open each remaining title’s store page and confirm that it shows the access your tier provides for that platform.
- If your account region differs from the one you are browsing from, check availability in your own region before subscribing.
- Note the date you checked, and recheck shortly before you start a subscription, because catalog membership changes.
When a candidate is missing or unavailable
- Listed, but not in your tier: the title may require a different tier or may not be included at all. Do not assume a higher tier includes it until the catalog shows it.
- Shows for another platform only: your platform filter is likely set incorrectly. Reset it to your device and check again.
- Not listed in your region: catalog availability can differ by region. Confirm the title in your own region rather than relying on another market’s listing.
- Subscription path is unclear: EA Play is a separate subscription path. It is only worth checking if a current catalog check confirms a comparable title for your tier and region.
Use this shortlist method each time you look, not a fixed list. Once you have verified a title for your tier, platform and region, it is a valid pick; anything else is a candidate until it passes the same checks.
