Best Games to Play if You Like Halo’s Campaign and Multiplayer

Titanfall 2 is the strongest all-round pick for Halo fans seeking campaign and multiplayer. DOOM Eternal suits campaign-first players, while Splitgate focuses on portal-based multiplayer.

Titanfall 2 is the best all-round starting point if you want another science-fiction shooter with both a single-player campaign and multiplayer. For a campaign-led pick, try DOOM Eternal; for portal-based multiplayer, consider Splitgate. None is a direct Halo replacement, so choose according to whether you care most about story, combat style, or competitive play.

How these games compare with Halo

Game Best fit Campaign Multiplayer Key difference from Halo
Titanfall 2 A mix of sci-fi campaign and multiplayer EA describes a single-player campaign focused on the bond between Pilot and Titan. EA describes an expanded multiplayer experience. Fast pilot movement and mech combat give it a different feel from Halo. EA’s Titanfall 2 features page
DOOM Eternal A campaign-first, high-intensity FPS Bethesda and PlayStation list a single-player campaign. BATTLEMODE is a 2-versus-1 mode. Its multiplayer is not conventional arena PvP. Bethesda and PlayStation
Splitgate Portal-based multiplayer A story campaign is not established by the cited official listing. PlayStation describes a free-to-play shooter with casual and competitive modes. It is a multiplayer option, not a confirmed campaign-and-multiplayer substitute. PlayStation

Best all-round alternative: Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is the clearest recommendation if you want one game that offers both a story campaign and multiplayer. EA describes a single-player campaign about the relationship between a Pilot and a Titan, alongside an expanded multiplayer experience. That combination overlaps with Halo’s two major modes without copying its combat: Titanfall 2 emphasizes fast-moving pilots and battles involving large Titans.

Xbox Wire reported that Titanfall and Halo were among the influences on Splitgate, but for Titanfall 2 the strongest reason to start here is more straightforward: its official feature page confirms both campaign and multiplayer. Check the current platform listing and online availability where you live; the cited information does not establish current stock, price, or matchmaking activity.

Best for a campaign-first player: DOOM Eternal

Choose DOOM Eternal if your priority is a substantial single-player FPS campaign and energetic combat, rather than reproducing Halo’s multiplayer. Bethesda and PlayStation describe its campaign, while PlayStation also lists BATTLEMODE, a 2-versus-1 multiplayer mode. That format is a distinct change from conventional team arena matches.

The official pages cited here establish that the game has both campaign and multiplayer, but they do not establish current regional availability, pricing, or online population.

Best for portal-based multiplayer: Splitgate

Splitgate’s defining multiplayer idea is using portals to move through maps and create unexpected lines of attack. PlayStation describes casual and competitive modes. In a 2021 Xbox Wire interview, 1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx said, “I grew up playing a lot of Halo 2 and Halo 3 and was completely captivated by their straightforward but sophisticated gameplay.” That is useful context about an influence, not proof that Splitgate plays exactly like Halo.

The cited PlayStation listing does not establish a story campaign, so Splitgate is best considered when you want multiplayer rather than a complete campaign-and-multiplayer replacement. Its present service status and player population are not established by these sources; verify them before choosing it for online play.

What about Halo: Campaign Evolved?

Halo: Campaign Evolved is an announced remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign, not an alternative from another franchise. Xbox Wire’s October 2025 announcement planned it for 2026 and listed Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Game Pass Ultimate/PC Game Pass. PlayStation’s listing describes two-player console split-screen and up to four-player online cooperative campaign play. The cited descriptions cover campaign co-op, not competitive multiplayer. Because these are announcement details, check the Xbox Wire announcement and the PlayStation listing for current release status and platform details.
