The Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 Series is the best all-round gaming chair for console and PC in the 2023 shortlist. However, it is not automatically the best choice for a TV-only setup. Console players gaming from a living-room television may be better served by the X Rocker SE Pro, a floor rocker such as the X Rocker 5143601 II, or a conventional recliner such as the RESPAWN 900.
The right chair depends on your TV height, viewing distance, room layout, body size and whether you also use a desk. A chair designed for PC gaming can be awkward in front of a low television, while a comfortable rocker or recliner is usually unsuitable for keyboard-and-mouse gaming.

Best overall for console and PC: Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 Series
The Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 Series is the strongest choice if one chair must handle console gaming, PC gaming, work and long sessions. Its value is adjustability rather than console-specific electronics: adjustable lumbar support, 4D armrests, seat-height adjustment, rocking, tilt and an 85–165-degree recline give you more ways to position your body than a fixed recliner or floor rocker.

WePC highlighted its tilt lock, recline, ergonomics and armrest adjustment, including the ability to move the arms out of the way for more relaxed controller play. Tech Advisor’s 2023 guide also named the TITAN Evo 2022 its best overall gaming chair and reported a starting price of $549 at the time of review.
Why it works for console players
- Recline lets you move from an upright desk posture to a more relaxed controller position.
- 4D armrests can be lowered or moved away so your shoulders do not remain elevated.
- Multiple size options make it easier to match the chair to your height and build.
- It can replace both a gaming chair and an office chair for mixed-use setups.
- Rocking provides movement without requiring a separate footrest.
Why it may be wrong for a TV-only setup
The TITAN Evo is still a desk-height chair. If your television is mounted for sofa-height viewing, the chair may put your eyes too high or place you too close to the screen. Its relatively firm cold-cure foam may also feel less lounge-like than a recliner or rocker. It is a premium purchase, so its adjustability is difficult to justify if you only want to sit several feet from a TV with a controller.
Tech Advisor reported Neo Hybrid faux-leather and SoftWeave fabric versions, along with multiple sizes and the 2022 Series’ recline and armrest features. Current Secretlab pages may describe later materials, prices, warranties or editions; do not automatically treat those current specifications as 2023 specifications. The current Secretlab comparison page is useful for identifying the present model, not for reconstructing its 2023 price.
Best dedicated console rocker: X Rocker SE Pro
The X Rocker SE Pro is the better answer for a player who sits directly in front of a TV and wants a couch-like rocking posture rather than a desk chair. WePC selected it as its best console chair, citing its rocker design and integrated audio system with two speakers and a subwoofer.
Its appeal is straightforward: you sit low, lean back, rock while playing and keep the setup focused on the television. That makes it a more natural fit for a dedicated living-room console area than the TITAN Evo.
What to consider before buying
- It is not a practical desk chair for keyboard-and-mouse gaming.
- Low seating can be uncomfortable if your TV is mounted at sofa or standing height.
- Some users may find it difficult to get in and out of a floor-level rocker.
- Integrated speakers are not necessarily better than a headset, soundbar or TV audio.
- Exact wireless and wired connection requirements must be checked for the specific model and television.
WePC described wired and wireless 2.1 audio compatibility, but that does not establish universal plug-and-play compatibility with every PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, television or adapter. The exact model number, manual and connection method matter. The allowed research did not verify a current official product page for the exact SE Pro model, so confirm current availability, warranty and specifications before following a retailer listing.
Best floor chair: X Rocker 5143601 II
The X Rocker 5143601 II is the best fit for a deliberately low gaming setup. WePC listed it as its best floor gaming chair for console. It can work well in a small room where a full recliner would dominate the space, provided the television is positioned for floor-level viewing.
Floor seating is not simply a smaller version of sofa seating. Check the angle from your eyes to the centre of the screen before buying. A television mounted for a standard sofa can force a floor-chair user to look upward for hours, creating neck fatigue. Floor chairs can also be unsuitable for anyone with knee, hip or mobility concerns.
As with the SE Pro, do not assume that an old model name guarantees current availability or identical specifications. The research available for this 2023 comparison does not verify a current official X Rocker page for the exact 5143601 II model.

Best conventional recliner: RESPAWN 900
The RESPAWN 900 is the better choice for a living-room player who wants a proper recliner rather than a racing-style gaming chair. It has a footrest, 360-degree swivel, independent recline and footrest controls, a cup holder, side pouch, headrest pillow and built-in lumbar support.
The manufacturer lists a 135-degree recline, an 18.8-inch seat height, a 31.5-inch width, a 37.8-inch depth, a 43.2-inch height, a 48.5-pound product weight and a 275-pound maximum capacity. These figures describe the chair itself, not necessarily the complete space required to operate it.

- Furniture-like appearance suits a living room better than many racing-style chairs.
- The footrest supports a relaxed controller posture.
- Swiveling makes it easier to turn toward other parts of the room.
- Storage and a cup holder are useful for TV-console sessions.
Limitations
- There is no height-adjustable seat or 4D armrest system.
- It is a poor choice for keyboard-and-mouse gaming.
- Its footprint is substantial, especially when reclined.
- Built-in lumbar support is not the same as independently adjustable lumbar support.
The manufacturer page currently shows a 3.0/5 rating based on two ratings alongside more than 200 written reviews. That small rating sample should not be treated as robust evidence of long-term quality. The page also displays a current price signal of $349.99, but that is not a 2023 price and may change.
Which type of console chair should you choose?
Choose a desk-height gaming chair if you:
- Play console games at a desk or high monitor.
- Also play PC games or work at the same station.
- Need adjustable lumbar support, armrests and recline.
- Prefer an upright posture and the ability to change position.
The TITAN Evo is the leading recommendation in this category. Alternatives include the DXRacer Craft and Razer Iskur V2. Current Tom’s Guide coverage lists the DXRacer Craft with a 135-degree recline and a 275-pound limit, while the Razer Iskur V2 emphasizes adaptive lumbar support and offers a 152-degree recline. These are desk chairs, not living-room recliners.
Choose a floor rocker if you:
- Play close to the floor in front of a suitably low TV.
- Want a compact, relaxed console-only setup.
- Like rocking and may benefit from integrated audio.
Avoid this category if you need a desk, have difficulty standing from the floor, or cannot adjust your television to the correct viewing height.
Choose a recliner if you:
- Play from a normal living-room TV position.
- Want a footrest and lounge posture.
- Do not need a chair for office work or PC gaming.
- Have enough room for the chair to recline fully.
Does a console gaming chair need built-in speakers?
No. Integrated audio is an immersion feature, not proof that a chair is more comfortable or ergonomic. A rocker with speakers may be appealing for games, films and music, but a headset can provide clearer positional audio and voice chat without filling the room. A soundbar may also outperform small chair-mounted speakers.
Before buying an electronic chair, identify the complete audio path:
- What device supplies the sound: console, TV or an audio extractor?
- Does the chair use 3.5mm, optical, USB, Bluetooth or a proprietary transmitter?
- Does your television pass audio through the required output?
- Is an adapter or transmitter included?
- Will party chat work through the chair?
- Can you use headphones if the chair’s speakers are unsuitable?
A chair does not need special PS5, Xbox or Switch compatibility if it is simply a seat. Compatibility matters when it includes speakers, vibration, USB or wireless functions. Switch owners should also distinguish between docked TV play and handheld use.

- Correct seat height: Your eyes should meet the screen without forcing your neck upward or downward.
- Lumbar support: Adjustable support is generally more adaptable than a fixed cushion.
- Recline and tilt: Changing position reduces the need to hold one posture throughout a session.
- Armrest position: Your shoulders should remain relaxed while holding the controller.
- Seat depth and width: You should be able to use the backrest without pressure behind the knees.
- Head and neck support: Particularly useful when reclining, but not a substitute for correct TV placement.
- Stable base: Check the safety and stability of casters, rocker mechanisms and reclining hinges.
- Breathable upholstery: Important in warm rooms or during long sessions.
- Easy cleaning: Especially relevant for a living-room chair used with drinks and snacks.
A racing-style chair is not automatically more ergonomic than an office chair. Logos, coloured upholstery, speakers and recline do not establish good support. Fit and adjustability do.
How to choose the right size
Check more than the maximum weight. Capacity is a safety specification, not a promise that the seat will feel comfortable. Compare:
- Recommended height range
- Maximum weight capacity
- Seat width
- Seat depth
- Armrest height
- Backrest height
- Whether you sit cross-legged or shift position frequently
- Whether the chair will fit through doors, hallways and stairways
For example, WePC listed the medium TITAN Evo with a recommended height range of 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet, a 286-pound or 129-kilogram maximum load and a 56-centimetre seat width. Treat those numbers as the 2023 listing’s specifications, not universal guidance for every current TITAN Evo size.
Measure the room before ordering
Manufacturers commonly list the chair’s upright dimensions, but the operating footprint can be larger. Measure:
- Width between furniture and walls
- Depth when upright
- Depth when fully reclined
- Clearance behind the backrest
- Footrest extension
- Space needed to swivel
- Cable routes for electronic chairs
- Floor protection for casters, rockers or swivelling bases
The RESPAWN 900’s listed depth is 37.8 inches, but that should not be treated as the full clearance needed when reclining. Confirm the chair can operate without striking a wall, coffee table or TV stand.

Materials: fabric, faux leather, mesh and foam
- Fabric: Often feels less sticky in warm rooms and has a less glossy appearance, but it can absorb spills.
- Faux leather: Usually easier to wipe clean, although it may feel warmer and can wear or peel depending on material quality and use.
- Mesh: Generally breathable, but less common in lounge-style console chairs.
- Foam: Firmness is personal. Denser foam can feel supportive to some users and too hard to others.
The 2023 TITAN Evo was available with Neo Hybrid faux leather or SoftWeave fabric and used cold-cure foam cushioning. Do not treat a material label as a guarantee of comfort or durability.
Is a gaming chair better than a sofa or office chair?
Not universally. A sofa may be more comfortable for casual multiplayer but offer less upright support and fewer ways to change position. An office chair may provide better adjustability and ventilation, especially for mixed work and gaming. A dedicated recliner may be superior for controller gaming from a TV.
The best chair is the one that matches the screen, room and activity. A premium desk chair can be a poor living-room purchase, while an inexpensive recliner can be excellent for relaxed console gaming but unusable at a desk.
Buying checklist
- Identify whether you need a desk chair, rocker, floor chair or recliner.
- Measure your eye height while seated and compare it with the TV position.
- Measure upright and fully reclined depth, not just width.
- Check seat width and depth against your body measurements.
- Confirm the exact model and generation.
- Check the weight capacity and recommended height range.
- Verify audio connections if the chair has speakers.
- Check the return policy, warranty and replacement-part availability.
- Consider upholstery, cleaning and floor protection.
- Verify the final price and shipping date before ordering.
Verdict by buyer
- Best all-rounder for console and PC: Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 Series.
- Best dedicated immersive rocker: X Rocker SE Pro, if its audio connection suits your television and console setup.
- Best floor chair: X Rocker 5143601 II, for a genuinely low-TV setup.

For most readers, the central decision is not which brand has the best gaming styling. It is whether the chair places your body at the correct height and distance from the screen while supporting the posture you actually use.
