TechRadar reports that ASUS is not expected to release a new phone in 2026; treat that as coverage of the current outlook, not an official product-roadmap guarantee. For a player who games occasionally, travels with one phone, or uses a phone camera heavily, those everyday strengths can matter more than a dedicated gaming mode. For long, demanding sessions, however, compare independent sustained-performance and thermal testing for the exact model and game. The cited source set does not establish a direct test that would justify saying it sustains higher frame rates than REDMAGIC or ROG. Specifications that can mislead
Refresh rate is not game frame rate
A 185Hz panel can refresh up to 185 times per second, but a game may be capped lower, the graphics settings may be too demanding to sustain the cap, or the developer may not enable a high-frame-rate mode on that device. Touch sampling is a separate input measurement. Compare the game’s supported modes and observed sustained frame rate, not just the display number.
Short benchmarks do not predict a long session
A brief benchmark can show burst performance while missing throttling, battery drain, frame-time spikes, heat around the controls, or performance while charging. For a serious purchase, look for tests lasting long enough to represent your sessions and reporting the game, settings, mode, firmware, and whether external cooling was used.
Cooling has costs
Large thermal hardware or an active fan can support sustained play, but may add weight, thickness, fan noise, accessory expense, and maintenance or dust concerns. Before buying a gaming phone from outside the most familiar US flagship brands, check the exact device variant—not just the brand name.

- Read the update promise precisely. Find out whether a stated period refers to Android-version upgrades, security patches, or both. Consider whether that is enough for how long you plan to keep the phone.
- Check durability and accessories. Confirm water-resistance rating rather than assuming one, and price any case, screen protector, charger, cooler, or controller you actually need.
- Verify your games and setup. Check each game’s supported graphics and frame-rate modes, controller compatibility, and whether the phone’s gaming tools work with it.
